You can store a flat magnet in a chamber. If it's strong enough, you have't to put it out for magnetizing the needle for a compass or you can put the knife on a metal surface.

Your note about the gold reminds me of something I learned from old paratroopers. They would sew a silver dollar under the patch on their overseas cap and tuck an extra dollar between the layers of the flap on the side. The dollar would get you a cab ride back to base and the silver dollar made for an improvised sap in case you got into a dust up at the bar.

He has a lot of cool videos like this too with different mods and making tiny kits.

SAK needs to put in a cell phone so we can call for help. And while we wait, call in for pizza delivery. I store things under and between the blades when I put an unused SAK in a kit. I take out the books, glover needle and fishing leader line when I take the SAK for use. Good show.

The EMV chip from a credit card should fit, even if you would need to either store or memorize the expiration date and security code to be able to use it. An RFID tag or chip would be pretty easy to fit in there. One of the smaller Sim card varieties from a phone would work. Microfiche or microfilm are actually a bit too big in their standard formats, but it would likely be easier to cut down microfiche to fit than microfilm, and microfiche can be read with a good magnifying glass and a source of light. A tiny Fresnel lens could fit, but I'm not sure how useful it would be. A folded up strip of magnesium ribbon would fit, and would be a great fire starter, as would a bit of char cloth. A spare flint for a lighter would probably fit in even the smaller sections. Lead sinkers for fishing could be made to fit any of the sections.

Be cautious as the scales are pressure fit and you will likely need all new ones after you remove them

Great Tips and great video as always, thanks a lot, Felix! And cameraman/editor! I think for being prepared for emergency situations it is better to hide your Victorinox in a gold bar than hiding a gold bar in a Victorinox. Because the Victorinox is surely of much higher value in an emergency than any gold bars ;-) Joking, of course, but a little truth is still in there, Felix, as you surely know better than I do ;-) My real recommendation is of course something totally different: If you store little things in your 91 mm scales be sure to have also always a little thing at hand to get the scales easily open. My tip is, of course: carry ALWAYS and additionally the Victorinox MiniChamp or the MiniChamp Alox. (btw: I really do so, I carry always my MCAlox on a chain around my neck.) Best regards my friend, stay fit and virus free, Robert

A good place to put a microchip or similar ID device so if your knife gets stolen, you can tell the police "Remove the handle" you'll find a small tag with my name on it! Who'd think to remove the handle when they steal your knife!

To hide stuff in the scale I think that’s a great idea. However, if you carry your fishing equipment in it, you’d have to remove the scales first in order to use the equipment. Would that be practical in the woods? But like others have commented, it’d make a good spy thriller 😃😃😃. Thanks for the video Felix, I’m a great fan of yours.

If i were in a true survival situation that required me to hunt, fish, trap/snare, in order to stay alive, it is very very practical. I understand this is only for true emergencies, not weekends at the lake. Great video, you’ve taught me so much. Keep them coming!! Chow! :)

A suggestion; if you are going to take off the scales with plans of reinstalling them, many times the plastic around the place ns cracks causing the scales to not be as secure. If you warm up the knife with hot water or a heating pad until it is just barely able to be handled, the plastic will be softer and will crack/chip less leaving a stronger reinstallation.
