I moved out of my apartment during the quarantine in LA, after being sexually assaulted by my landlord in my home. Returning to the area and going to my storage unit after a year and a half included a bit of overwhelm to tackle everything - and also some added and complex emotions. I am SO thankful Carla was was there when I pulled up to my storage unit. She really broke things down in a way that allowed me to feel organized, productive and move forward. And as always, we laughed a ton and she made the process fun. So thankful to Carla, and was honored to be a part of The Carla Project, whose episodes always put a smile on my face : )

I loved that you helped her when she got stuck. It’s hard to declutter when you start to over think each item. You’re an awesome friend!

We moved eight times in 10 years. Paying to ship things really helps to clear out. Having lived in a studio apartment in between large houses. Also helps you realize how much you don’t need. And having a hurricane reach your storage in between moves and destroy have your stuff also helps you realize how much you don’t need.

Tell your friend she did so good. I understand the feelings.I donated so much stuff and I can't remember 99% of the things I've donated. My boxes were the sizes of small deep freezers. I'm still not finished. 🤷🏿‍♀️

Always so interesting to see the reaction people have seeing their stuff after time has passed. She really forgot what was in the storage unit and going down memory lane brings up lots of emotions. Obviously, when you get down to it, she wasn't going to ship most of it and decided to depart with it. Thank you for being such a good friend to help her along with that. So glad to see that most was donated or given away, but having paid for storage for a year and a half is the real kicker to me. Best wishes to her on her next chapter in life!

I had always intended on coming back to the LA area… but it took way longer than expected for that time to be right. Nonetheless, happy to say I just recently returned to get my things out of storage and create a new home in the LA area : ) I have started posting episodes of my cross country road trip / move on my channel, and stay tuned on Carla’s channel to see her helping me organize my new place ☺️

I love that!!! Thank you for watching : ) I just released an episode on my channel of me packing up those same boots and other things in NC, to head back to CA! Took me way longer than expected, before the time was right. Anyways, Carla helped me organize a bit when I got back to the LA area, so you’ll see her helping me once again on her channel soon ☺️👍👍

Friends are great when it comes to declutter unlike family. Family tend to be more emotionally charged and can get tense whereas Friends have a healthy distance from the clutter

Great job Ladies! Storage spaces tend to be hard work if it's not something you check on or declutter every couple of months. I've watched a lot of those shows where the items in container units are auctioned off. Lots of things are just not worth storing. All the best to your friend!

i met lisa through her mom debra who i met in an online course i signed up for. try online courses and classes and workshops for anything you're interested in. lots of people out there looking for community and friends!

I needed a friend like this to help me make decisions when I finally decluttered my storage unit and moved to another city. I put things on marketplace for free and the last few boxes got taken by a garbage removal company. Cost money to get rid of it, but no longer paying for storage, so it was a win.

I found you this weekend and have been binge watching you since then. I was so excited this morning to find a new video, yay!

I feel hopeful that I can do the garage now.My goal is to pack the car until full and repeat again and again. Thank you beautiful ladies for showing us behind the scenes of your friendship and process.

I just got everything out of storage and loaded into a van myself, and then moved into my new place 🤗 I’ve just started posting to my channel, my road trip across the country to move back to CA. And you’ll see Carla post soon when she helped me organize my new place. Lots to update you all on ☺️

I’m just closing my storage unit after four years got rid of a ton of stuff. I have like my great aunts Scrabble game that they used to play on and I feel guilty because I’m pretty sure I have to get rid of it but I’m 58 so it’s just time.❤

I so understand this. Moved from a four bedroom house into many apartments and my last move was into a “casita” which is really only a bedroom with a bathroom. Had to make a makeshift kitchen and even then the landlord said I had too much. Finally into a pretty large studio apartment. So now going weekly into my storage and decluttering …. ALMOST done, separating kids stuff/pictures and giving it to them. this is all from 15 years of “what’s up with my life” and I wish I had a friend like you Carla to help.

This video has given me a new question to ask…”is it worth shipping?” If I were moving, would I ship these things I haven’t looked at in over a year? If they wouldn’t be worth shipping they aren’t worth storing either.

My storage unit still has a bunch in it, but it is way more organized, and I feel cleansed and ready for the next chapter.

I think a key way to approach storage units, specifically, is; am I paying more to save this stuff then it's actually worth monetarily? Let's say the unit is 100$ per month which is 1,200 per year... are the contents worth that?

I totally get creepy vibes from storage units because of the show YOU lol. The new season is out Oct 15 on Netflix I believe! "Just the essentials" uh huh yeah ok your friend is awesome! That organizer that she said is not sparking Joy is what all of my husbands clothes are currently in! Same one. hahaha. Btw, I finally my friends if I could do a decluttering video and I got one taker lol and their parents want some help too. These decluttering with friends videos are soooo inspiring! I just love them!

Loved this one!! Storage units, basement and attics are such a worm hole for clutter it's CRAAAAZY😅When your friend found the folders I was such a dejavu... I kept all of the school books and any additional education papers and all for sooo long🤦🏼‍♀️And I wasn't even working in the same field anymore for years 😂Do you have a storage unit Carla?

They are total wormholes!! I don;t have one (thankfully!) but growing up my parents had storage units and I have no idea what ever happened to that stuff haha guess we didn't need them afterall!

There's no such thing like those storage-units in Germany. Here it's whether you have a garage/basement or not. As far as I know, the only place to rent for keeping things, is a safe-deposit-box. 😅

Seriously, I understand that it can be overwhelming, however, storage units are costly. She has been paying for this unit for 1.5 or more yrs for things she hasn't looked at/missed. Short term storage is fine but that is alot of $$ wasted! If it's important take it home and end payments!!

she doesn't have her own home though. She is living with family so she still has things of her own that she has collected over the 40 plus years on the planet that she wants to keep. i think it is the best solution for all things considered, albeit not ideal due to cost.

Animal rescyes will always take old towels.

Storage units are a huge waste of money! Sell give away or donate. You can buy a newer one if you ever absolutely need one. $$$ down the drain.
