Let’s be honest, this lens is purely designed to be a flex. Sony took the most basic and generic focal length and turned it into their most technologically advanced piece of glass. And I want it lol

I would 100% agree with you. After the announcement of the Sigma 50mm f1.4 Lens, it will be interesting if that hurts the sales of this lens.
this is the best lens I ever own, worth every penny

Hey Rodrigo, I would agree that this lens is amazing, fantastic, and just one unbelieveable lens. Not right for everyone but it is a pretty darn good lens!
Again another very informative video that is awesome that you got a chance to review the camera.

Your spot on with ur review. It's awesome dude. I just picked mine up for just 1400 mint, it's used but perfect.. fell in love with it after having borrowed it for a few hours from sony rep. Darn I was so impressed I had to have it.

It is really a great lens. I would love to buy it. I just don't think I would use it that much.
My first/only lens for my A7IV is the Tamron 28-75 and I just ordered this sob as my first ever prime. The cons melt away whenever I see samples of what it can do. Good video!

Thank you so much. Listen this is a great lens. One of the best that Sony has ever made. If I shot more telephoto stuff this would be a lens to get.
Sold! Thanks for recommending this lens. 😊 You made a lot of good points and now I want one! Lol! With that said, I thing the New Sony 50mm 1.4 GM might be a better fit for me being lighter weight 😃

That is really the one that I would like to test out as well. I don't think I need 1.2. Having a 1.4 is plenty enough for me.
You are absolutely right about the price tag too high. I’m a beginner love Sony but those prices are very high, I use sigma for my Sony a 7iv and a6400

That is how Sony keeps their bodies so cheap (not that $1,000s is cheap). They price their lenses high and theor bodies cheaper. I don't mind this strategy as lenses are forever investments but it is tough when you are first starting out. What Sigma lenses do you have?
I just bought this lens, waiting for it to arrive ... I'm doing some corporate picture/video work and got this lens "just in case". I also plan to do a lot of night or low light work with it. Probably not going to be watching KZread much as they have a rather aggressive "ad-blocking" policy that violates GDPR laws and I really don't have time for ads and most information regarding camera gear I can get via standard websites that don't violate GDPR. If you want feedback on future direction/content, I would recommend moving away from KZread and more towards web site articles, they seem a better fit for photography and video work (there are many other video platforms like Vimeo if one feels the need to distribute content). Articles tend to be better because the read doesn't have to pause the video and restart all the time, they just scroll to what they need. In addition, posting very high resolution images via websites makes for a better read and compare, especially when one wants to compare 61MP vs 12MP ... hard to see that on a KZread video without doing a lot of image zooming/cropping.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I was not aware of the GDPR laws. I am going to have to look into that. I really enjoy making the videos so maybe I should check out Vimeo. How do you like the lens so far. It is really an amazing lens for the Sony system.
It's a fabulous lens. It can be bought on some sites at a very reasonable price.

I would agree. Using the equipment is so much more important.
Hi Brian, so I actually got from the direction I really got excited to replace my 24-240 inexpensive Sony lens, and I want to (hopefully) shoot a documentary. And was going down the rabbit hole of looking for what is the best lenses. I got to a point of thinking to buy a Zeiss Supreme prime (20,625$), but then looked for still less expensive lenses. I saw the Zeiss Otus, and this one, which honestly with the auto focus seems like a really great bargain if I want really great sharpness and detail but not pay for the super premium cinema lenses. I thought the videos you shot of your kids look really good, the color rendering is great, the definition is there, and you used A7S3, right? Thanks for sharing this video!

Yes, I am using the a7s3 for almost all my video work. I also use the a7iv for all my photo work.

@@BrianTheCameraGuy I am tempted to try the alpha1 for video work, even making a movie, because of the 8k video, but I read some reviews that it overheats sometimes

@@BrianTheCameraGuy Thanks Brian. I wonder if for making a whole movie with the a1, it won't be too much to rely on it for video. It's still an hybrid camera, and I'm not sure if it's not going to overheat and malfunction

Definitely something to test out for you. So far after day one, not a problem. Are you thinking about using it for 8k or just 4k?
I have noticed ❤that my 85 GM isn’t is sharp as the 50mm 1.2gm
@BrianTheCameraGuy
Жыл бұрын
Yes, this 50mm is really sharp. It is probably because the lens is closer and you get more in focus.
Interesting I can't afford it

I really feel the same. I would love it for portraits and low light but I would barely use it so for me it is not worth the price.
What an absolute clickbaith. "Stop recommending a 50mm lens" then start praising the lens non stop for 10+ minutes.
