Awesome vid Brian, this smooth delivery right here is proof you put the work in. Big congrats on completing the 30 Day Challenge and thanks for the shout out ❤
Thank you Thomas. I have not started the version 2.0 of the program. I will be starting soon and excited to learn even more!
Can you help me to get a good focus on a7c I use 50mm 1.2 when I use 4k video I can’t get good shift focus every time I have to use spot focus can anyone help is lens too big for the body that’s why it’s my working or what’s the reason or what’s the real settings ?
Do you have eye autofocus on?
I just got the lens slapped on a polarizing filter and got vinyeting in the corns Circle around the image. I cropped it out but still disappointed
That is crazy. Mine worked flawlessly. Sorry to hear about the troubles.
Hey! I got a 20mm G lens for vlogging. Would you say getting this one would be better?
Is this lens better? It depends on what you are looking for. The Sony 20mm is an amazing vlogging lens. It is super lightweight and wide enough to get you some background in the shot. The 16-35mm GM II is an amazing lens but it is much heavier. it is nice to get that 16mm but it comes at a heavy weight price. Plus the lens is not cheap. If you have the 20mm, then don't feel bad that is an awesome lens.
@@BrianTheCameraGuy I have a 50mm GM that I got for making fitness content on insta. I was researching hard to see what I should get for vlogging on KZread. I thought it would be nice to maybe have the 16-35 so I can do both, while having the option to vlog without wide angle distortion using the 35mm range. I don’t know if it would make that much of a difference though. I was also tempted just to get a 70-200 because I figured that would give me good range for everything with what I already have.🤣
On rhe creative look settings do you recommend that sharpness should be set higher or lower ?
I prefer to have a softer image that if I want to make sharper then I can do it in post. I would not go down too far, maybe 1 or 2 down from standard.
Whats the point though to buy a full frame to use it in a crop mode? The amount of light on a full frame in crop mode will be the same as an aps-c camera. Sigma 16mm 1.4 like 30mm and 56mm1.4 is a great lens.
The point would be that if you only have APS-C lenses, then don't worry about upgrading them so quickly when you move to full frame. This is a fantastic lens whether on APS-C or full frame. It is cheap and works great. Plus you can get it used for an even nicer price.
@BrianTheCameraGuy if i upgrade, i will want a least one lens, maybe buy first a lens full frame that can be used on aps-c than a full frame... than i was thinking at the ZV-E1 :)
According to Sony Hong Kong technical support department when the a7c2 connects to the ecm-g1 microphone, it can only use analog input. If you use a7c2 with other higher-end microphones, you can use digital input or analog input. So when g1 connect to a7c2, there is no fully automatic audio leveling function. However, on other Sony camera models such as the a74, the camera can continue to use digital input and use the fully automatic volume leveling function. Regarding this issue, I sent three emails to Sony's technical support department in Hong Kong, China and Japan. Reflecting my dissatisfaction, why do the same microphone have different reactions in different camera models. I use the a7c2, a relatively entry-level camera, because I hope that using an entry-level microphone, I can adjust the volume completely automatically, without having to spend time manually adjusting the volume.
I have not used the a7c2 but I would think it is a digital signal. If not, then you would be right and it would be an analog signal. I don't think with this mic you can adjust the volume controls. That was one of the cons of this mic.
Hi, did you notice any focus jump/focus pulsating when you close up to the subject with autofocus on with this lens (PZ 16-35mm F4 G)? Mine seems to have the issue when I use gimbal to go in closer to the subject's face, it seems to have that zoom pump, but it is actually the focus going error for a very fast milliseconds (or looks like focusing the back of the subject in mine), and then slowly focus back to the subject, and it is quite frequent. Or sometimes it would just make that whole scene to have the shaking stutter effect for a millisecond, I had even set the focus shift sensitivity to the lowest, and it still does the same thing. For the body I'm currently using A7S3. Attached here is an example (not my video, but a clip I manage to found online which has the same issue as mine), look at the table at the bottom area and you'll understand what I meant: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqWO0Luql5bggqQ.html Much appreciated for your replies, thank you.
Do you have focus breathing turned on? Also, I would double check your subject detect. Make sure you are in human and that you have eye detected turned on.
@@BrianTheCameraGuy I just updated the firmware, and have turned on focus breathing, and the eye detection turned on, the same issue is still happening
Sounds like you might have a problem with the lens. I would reach out to Sony to see if they can get it fixed.
I have one doubt as a7r3 or a7r4 can't shoot 4k120fps,is it still possible to use a ninja atmos v +(which can shoot upto 4k120fps) to get that job done?
No, the Ninja V+ does not give you the ability to reach at different frame rates. It only allows you a better codec to record the usable frame rates in the camera. I would save the money on the Ninja and just go with the a7r5 if you want the better slow motion.
I cant decide if I should go with sony 20mm f1.8 or the sony 24mm f1.4 is there a difference in low light performance? Is the f 1.4 worth the extra 1000 dollars over the f1.8 lens ?
I would say if you are not using the lens for vlogging there is something special about the Sony 24mm f1.4 lens. It is just a magical lens.
@@BrianTheCameraGuy thanks. Good to know.
You are welcome!!
Is there a difference in low light performance with f 1.8 vs f 1.4 lens ?
I do not think there is that much of a difference. You might see a little more background blur with a f1.4. Also, f1.4 will be a half a stop better in low light.
@@BrianTheCameraGuy good to know . Thanks
You are much welcome.
My question is there a difference in low light performance between f1.8 vs f1.4 lens ?
I do not think there is that much of a difference. You might see a little more background blur with a f1.4. Also, f1.4 will be a half a stop better in low light.
Is there a big difference in low light between an f 1.8 vs an 1.4 ?
I do not think there is that much of a difference. You might see a little more background blur with a f1.4. Also, f1.4 will be a half a stop better in low light.
How about an a7s or a7sii? Still worth it, or should it be the a7siii exclusively? Thanks!
I have never used either one of those cameras. Based on what I have heard about them, they are good but the new cameras are better options.
What do you recommend the d range optimizer should be set for low light?
I would probably set it to level 3!
Wow a lot of background noise. Great for quieter places but fantastic size
Yes, I would agree. Not bad in a pinch but definitely better options out there with more feature. Downside is more cost!
Will the larger zip pouch fit a passport? Thanks
Yes, it will!!!
What level do you set the dynamic range optimizer?
When I use it outdoors I like it set to Level 5. Indoors you can lower it a little bit. Does that help?
@BrianTheCameraGuy indoors do you recommend to have it set to level 2 or 3 ?
Yes, I would bring it down some.
more the people are focusing on video renews for the lenses than the real photography and image quality staff.
I would agree. Using the equipment is so much more important.
Good editing dude
Thank you so much. Really appreciate the feedback!!
I am currently using the tamron 28 to 200mm lens f 2.8 to f 5.6 . But I'm saving my money to buy a sony 20mm f 1.8 lens.
That 20mm is a fantastic lens. You cannot go wrong with that one!!
I love the a7siii . It's the bees knees. What is the best base iso rang for if don't want a picture profile and I want to film strate from the camera?
I like it as low as you can go. Iso 200 is really nice. I would just set the dynamic range to level 5!
Sony a7s3 full-frame?
Yes, it is full frame!!
Did you go through the portal creative or did you do your own program? The price seems steep, so wondering if you think it is really good?
Yes I went through portal creative. I was able to pick up the course on sale but I really feel that it is totally worth it even at full price.
@@BrianTheCameraGuy Thank you. I’ll sign up and I’ll use your link. I appreciate you!
@@aznomads1579 let me know how it goes!!
Great
Thank you very much!!!
These videos make no sense. Of course it is. It is still the best camera Sony has. I would buy a A7SIII over the A7RV., A7iV, ZV-E1, A7CII and FX3. It is just a better camera.
Do you think they will male the a7siv? If they do, what would you like to see?
@@BrianTheCameraGuy yeah I think it will be announced in July. 6k, 24 megapixels, better stabilization like what’s in the A93. Pretty much would be happy with all that.
@@heynow2880 that sounds like some solid upgrades. I would go for that!!
@@BrianTheCameraGuy let’s hope
Great review
Thank you very much!!
Would you recommend this for a wide lens for a podcast? And real estate videos?
Real estate for sure! This lens is really wide and would help capture the full room. As far as podcasts, it depends on the size of the room. If it is really tight, then yes. If it is a larger room, I would recommend something a little longer, like the Sigma 16mm f1.4.
Great review! I like to carry my iPad Mini as well for quick edits during breaks, do you think this sling will fit that as well?
I am thinking no. It is very tight with just the gear I mentioned in this video.
Thank you sir. I was up to the point of considering returning the lens until I saw your video, now I will keep it.
That is awesome. I am really glad my review helped!!
WHO ABOUT TALKING ABOUT THIS GARBAGE CAMERA OVERHEATING AFTER 25 MIN 4K 60 RECODING!!???? fu&( you all youtubers CLOWNS. this camera is not good for video unless you only shoot short periods of time.
So what is option to avoid overheating, Fx3 is okay ?
@@IRFAN-po5sz The A7siii and Fx3 maybe if you are in warmer places, I do own all of them and the Fx3 have never overheated so far, the a7siii i got a warning on a warm day after 2 hours recording 4k 50fps, but didn't shut off. Now if you have the budget, the Fx6 its the best, i can use it all day without worrying about anything.
When I was using the camera I did not experience any overheating. Although I only used 4k 60fps or higher in short bursts.
I liked your video weeks ago. I already have the Sony A7RV... I need a second camera. Its between another A7RV, ZV-E1 or a Sony A7IV... Im going more towards video. This is getting tough.
If you are going towards video I would go zv-e1. You already have a photo camera. If you want video, you want lower pixels. If you go a7iv then you will probably feel to close to the a7rv.
@@BrianTheCameraGuy I agree. The think the Sony A7rRV and the Sony ZV-E1 will be the ultimate combo... They both compliment each others strengths and dominate each others weaknesses. Im going to order one later on today. Thank you again.
Did you get your new camera? How is it going?
You didn't even bother to go outside for a few good shots. All your samples are bad and lazy. You did this lens a disgrace. But hey lets hammer folks with affiliate links....
Thank you for the feedback. I love the honest option. It is the only way to help me improve. Did you find anything valuable in the video?
@@BrianTheCameraGuy The tech info is decent and you do well in-front of a camera. That being said, I just checked out your IG photos. There is not a single good photo. Not one. Why should I follow your suggestions when you can't produce good results with your suggestions? It looks like you are in love with gear and specs, but you don't make use of it. I think you need to get out there, away from the desk, and take time to learn this skill...
Thank you for your option. I do appreciate it. Honestly I think IG is pointless except for their DM feature. It is a platform that not longer knows what it wants to be when it grows up. Also, I am not really a photo guy. Prefer video. I prefer taking video of my kids and using the gear for that. Over kill, he'll yeah but who cares. As far as following, don't worry about it. You don't have to. Not everyone has to like me or the content. Don't feel bad on you.
i have the a7s iii. love it, but not the way Sony has treated me as a purchaser of this flagship device in firmware upgrades or the fact that they came out with the FX3 so soon after. I agree with everything said here, but as a person that was not looking to use this as a "hybrid" camera, and only wanted top-end movie/cinema features, I would not buy this in 2024. I would definitely get the FX3. Sony actually cares about that camera and its status in the camera community. I would not be surprised if they stopped the a7 line altogether now that they know they have engineered a hit with the FX3 line.
You might be right about the a7s line. I also think that people will be very careful if an siv comes out. They released the fx3 a couple months later. They should release both upgrades at the same time but I am sure they will not.
Forever confused when it comes between iso and aperture
I gotcha you. ISO is like adding fake light to you shot. Higher the iso, the brighter the image. Aperture can also control the amount of light. Smaller number equals more light. Also, smaller number means blurrier background. If you want more in focus then you have to close up the aperture or male the number larger. Does that make sense?
@@BrianTheCameraGuy kinda so iso is basically just brightness and aperture is like real brightness kinda thing.. I'll have to look deeper into it, I need to get this right
Let me know if I can help. Just messing around with your camera can help too!!
Question do you recommend I film in 4k xavc s or xavc s i?
I like the 4k xavc HS. I then edit using proxies that I make after I get home.
Question what codec do you use for filming?
If you are talking about my Sony a7siii then I use S-log 3 and s-cinegamut 3. Is that what you are asking?
@@BrianTheCameraGuy how many megabites per second to you film with ?
I usually shoot at 24 fps at 100 Mbps.
You should do a review of the sony a1 . Not to be confused with the a1 steak sauce 😂.
I was lucky enough to use that camera. It is a really great camera and would love to use it for photos. Little bit out of my price range. What would you like to see in that review?
The low light performance
Low light was ok. If it is really important then save some money and go a7s3, fx3, or zv-e1.
@@BrianTheCameraGuy is the low light performance on the a1 comparable to the a7iv ?
They are pretty close. If you have a fast prime lens then you are all set!
Everything comes alive at night with the a7siii
No doubt about it!! Great camera and amazing in low light!
Everything comes alive at night with the a7siii
I would have to agree, 100%. Amazing camera even after all these years!
the review i have been looking for.....
Thank you very much. You thinking about taking the plunge on this camera?
I absolutely agree. I've been filming with my ZV e10 and I'm loving it. Next thing is to invest in a good lense for better.
What lens have you been keeping an eye on to get next?
@@BrianTheCameraGuy Sony Sigma 16mm
That is such a great lens. I know it has less physical features to the Sony 15mm but I really love the image quality!!
Ugh, Make it Stop... His Face, NO!!!!
Thank you so much for making me laugh!! I appreciate you stopping by and checking out the video.
Its a bang for the buck and was my first apsc but i really hate the rolling shutter 🥹 although it has its limitations, i use it as my B Cam Just got a FX30 and I absolutely love it!
I would agree that the rolling shutter is rough. I guess to get it to that price they had to cut on the processor. Hopefully if the mark 2 comes out then it will be improved. I am seeing rumors it might be out later this year.
Great video & great BRoll! Cheers to you and your family, sir 🫡🫡🫡☺️
Thank you so much. I am really glad you liked it!!
Agreed, I love this camera and yes it does awesome photos aswell.
I was very impressed even 2 years later. You cannot go wrong if you are starting out!
No one hates this lens. It's a dope ass lens
It is a really great lens. I was totally blown away with how good it was.
so what I got from this video is low light vlogging go with 14 1.8 and day time gm 16-35 gm ii ( because its lighter)
I like the 20mm for the nighttime stuff. Lighter but better in low light. I like the 16-35 for daytime stuff.
Why do some say /b and others do not ?
I believe it is just to show it came off a different factory line. It is the same camera.
Hi Brian, would you recommend shooting auto ISO for talking head videos? 😊
I would recommend locking down your ISO when doing a talking head. When you sit down to do a talking head, you should be in control of your lighting. You can always bring your lighting up if you want a lower ISO. I would mess with your lights vs. letting your camera figure it out.
