STOP-MOTION with Kevin! Ep. 1
Фильм және анимация
Learn stop-motion animation with Kevin! I've been meaning to try this format for a while - a stop-motion lesson based on a simple exercise easily done with arts and crafts materials. It's still a bit tricky to show the addition of each new frame, but I think this came out fairly clear. I have some ideas on how to improve the exercises, but I'd be happy to hear what you think!

I wanted to try a new format where I teach a simple stop-motion exercise that anyone can do. Let me know what you think! I already have a few ideas of where to improve, but wanted to start somewhere! ✨

A good tip to have is to plug some wired earbuds into the phone. If you have it enabled in settings, changing the volume of the phone will take a picture, so you can take a picture of the next frame by changing the volume using the earbuds, without having to risk moving the phone by touching it.

I was going to suggest the same thing with one of those Bluetooth selfie sticks
I think a little bit of sideways motion would help a bit, both shaking when holding the energy and waving around crazily when released

Hi scott! Love ur vids
Very helpful, would love to watch more like this, even longer. It is rare to see an animator’s process frame by frame, without speeding it up. Would love to watch you work with rigs, as well as performance of characters. Thank you!

I agree its very nice to see the frame-by-frame process.
Tips and tricks. My respects!
If you’re animating with figurenes or lego etc i suggest using “sticky tack” to hold the figures down and make your camera stable
Stop motion animation is so cool that you do it with toys, puppets, and even people. They even do a lot of magic.
Very cool. It really doesn't weigh everything down with the technical terms and principles but from what I can see shows more of the process. I could see this being really useful.
This is awesome to see your decision-making in this video. Helpful to see how you think about the motion while shooting.
Excellent ideas, pro tips n tricks... and lots of them. Magic!
I’m taking your stop motion course right now, working my way through it and loving it 😊

Hey Kevin, have you heard of the toy called Stikbot, the whole point of it is to teach kids about stop motion and how to make their own films 📼

Love this idea. Getting an insight into the thinking and processes is really interesting. It can seem quite daunting starting out in something like stop-motion, so having these videos can really help break it down to something everyone can try. Keep these videos coming please!
Dang, this was a great tutorial for channels like mine that are devoted to stop motion 😂

What is the best phone to use for stop motion?
Do you have a recommendation for a software where we could rewatch video frame by frame to study natural motion? Say that I record a ball that gets dropped and bounces a few times and want to understand what happens.

With Stop-Motion Studio you can play back on your phone - or pair your device to your computer and review there. Or professional software is Dragonframe.

Hmmm, a video teaching stop motion... a "guide" one might say. Be careful. Ep. 1 is innocuous enough, but by Ep 5 we'll be deep in secret lore!! ;)

“Let’s take a picture.” TAKE THAT F***ING PICTURE ALREADY!
I really think it is
My question is, why do you want to stop motion, though? It’s good to move.
