    Personally I don't like a ridged routine where I use the same things AM and PM almost every single day. I'm kinda the same with exercise too...I just listen to my body (or skin) and give it what it needs when it needs it. I mean, I do have a few products that I am fairly consistent with e.g I like using I'm From's rice toner with Benton's snail bee high content skin in the morning with Neogen's micro ferment essence and Mizons intensive repair essence at night, I'll usually also use a small amount of Cosrx's 95% galactomyces essence AM & PM too. But if my skin is fairly normal I'll opt for a light gel moisturizer pretty much always but if it's a bit red and flakey, usually from tretanoin, I'll use a heavier moisturizer...the Ordinary's one is great I find. It's cheap and I don't use it regularly so I always like to have a 30ml tube on hand. It's saved my ass countless times now.

    @@JamesWelsh Save your good SPFs for your face and just go for the cheaper ones everywhere else, including most of your neck. You have very few oil glands there and it's highly unlikely to make you break out or anything. I just ordered Klair's soft airy UV essence literally about an hour ago and I'm sure as hell not putting that from my forehead down to my collarbones lol. Another good way to save your good SPF is a '2 in 1' moisturizer/SPF and using your SPF 50 over the top but 99% of them are awful. So far I've only found one (Azclear's) and it's only available in Australia :\

I broke out so terribly and I absolutely did not know which product was responsible for the break out.. now I introduce one product at a time - therefore I can see which product was the problem

    Nada what if i never had a routine to begin with? i never had a routine and wanted to start caring for my skin. i bought a few products. should I introduce one product at a time? i bought two cleanser , one moisturizer , face oil , and two chemical exfoliators (bha and aha). Should start with just using the cleanser for some time and then add a bha or aha?

  • @CeCe1066

    @CeCe1066

    4 жыл бұрын

    Michonne Luv I think sticking to just a cleanser and moisturizer for the first week (or longer if u want) is best. Then add the face oil and test it for a week or so. Then add spf after that. But if ur area’s under quarantine/social distancing, I guess spf doesn’t really matter lol. Once ur sure the spf doesn’t break you out, add ur bha OR aha. Don’t do bha and aha at the same time! If you’ve never had a routine, adding these at the same time can really dry out and over-exfoliate your skin. The point is to build up your skin’s resilience over time. I also wouldn’t recommend using both the same night, so try to alternate if possible. Once your skin is more resilient, you can probably change this. Again, it’s important to not over exfoliate and to listen to your skin. Also important to be using an spf if you’re using an aha. An aha makes your skin more sensitive to the sun; even if you use an aha at night, you have to make sure to wear spf. Sorry that was long! I know im just a random person on the internet so you don’t have to listen to me, but this was just all the things I’ve learned and thought I should share🤗

    @Michonne Luvs As the others already mentioned, I would start with the basics such as cleanser, moisturizer and sun screen 😊 maybe you should buy products that are fungal acne/ Malassezia safe.. Before I started a skin care routine, I didn’t know that my skin is prone to Malassezia and I got all these little tiny bumps on my forehead Therefore, if you don’t know whether your skin is prone to it or not, I would just focus from the beginning on products that are safe 😊 Here is a link to a website where you can check the ingredients of products: folliculitisscout.com

    can totally attest to the first mistake about skincare. when i first started being more conscious and active in my skincare routine i bought like 5 different products in 1 day. going from using only 2 products daily to using 7 every day for less than a week caused my skin to go through a really gross purge, but i couldnt figure out what was causing it. so i wound up completely cutting down my routine back to the basics and introduced them 1 by 1 and what do you know, no more breakouts!

    I'm the WORST at shuffling skincare products. I have very normal skin and pretty much nothing changes that and I feel very lucky for that. That said, I buy so many new products that I'm always tempted to use them. I also still get confused about what to use with what and when. I have the basic idea of what order to use them in but not what ingredients to use with what. I absolutely LOVE your skincare because I'm a skincare fanatic! Happy to see you healthy and safe! Love from Orange County CA!💛🌴

    Oh! I bought some dots after your chats on them. I freaking love them. If nothing else, they keep my fingers off blemishes and that is super helpful. It's also weirdly interesting seeing the stuff in them when you pull them off. But they fade so fast, probably because I'm leaving them alone. I don't get blemishes often, but they're amazing for the ones I do get! So, thank you kindly for the recommendation.

    THANK YOU! People demonize parabens without even knowing what they are. It’s refreshing to see someone who actually knows what they are talking about. I personally like seeing parabens on my ingredient lists (considering I only use trusted brands) because I feel protected and I feel like my active ingredients are more natural if they actually need preserving.

    omg thank you for the day v. night moisturizer advice! i have drier skin so I use my cerave moisturizing cream at night and use my tatcha dewy skin cream in the morning. it helps me not feel so stuck in my skincare routine and i like that my night moisturizer is thicker and more “healing” while my day one works better for under makeup and gives me more of a “glow”. i thought i was being extra for having two moisturizers so thanks for this haha

    James darling hello!I listened to your advice to use a little facial mist (I use a simple mineral water) in between skincare steps and it is amazing! Even if I am wearing a face mask every day and this is an extremely difficult and stressful time I have no breakout and my skin glows! Don't know if it is the added moisture or that it cleans away residue from bad tap water but it certainly helps! Thank you😘

    I think the day and night moisturizer being separate is definitely more of an oily skin thing, I have super dry (Sahara dry) eczema prone skin and I use a pretty thick moisturizer both day and night, using the same one. I can absolutely get why with oily skin you might want different things for day or night more, though.
