Skin types are just a marketing thing. They were created by skincare companies to sell product. Watch Dr. Dray's video. In dermatology, there's no such thing as "skin types" in the way we think of them ("oily," "combination," etc.) The only skin types in dermatology are the ACTUAL, Fitzpatrick skin types. Don't fall for the false concept of skin types. Seriously it's the biggest load of SHIT

Yeah! Good idea. Just make sure you're properly sanitising and sterilising the dropper. Using hot, soapy water, then high concentrated rubbing alcohol or a 10% bleach bath. You don't want cross contamination which will disrupt the stability and functioning of a product, promoting growth of fungus and bacteria! Good luck my loves 🖤

Daniella A, I love The Ordinary, too, but have never tried The Inkey List. I use The Ordinary’s AHA/BHA peel- so good! And I won’t be without their hyaluronic acid. But now, I’m going to try one of the The Inkey List’s moisturizers. Hyram’s made me fickle.

I felt she was slightly more age appropriate for me and my skincare needs. If you aren't old enough to have your own money you don't need special skincare yet. Unless you have specific concerns like breakouts or eczema you only need a mild cleanser and moisturiser! And that you can get for your birthday or for doing chores around the house.

I agree. A lot of people don’t understand that these videos that they love him for will happen less and less because he’ll be busy promoting his brand, which is what he’s supposed to do. Plus, no one brand will have every or majority product work for a lot of his fan base. While, he knows his ingredients, it doesn’t mean it will work for majority of people and there’d be a lot of feedback from people who believe everything Hyram says instead of trying certain products and looking at ingredients that works best for their skincare needs.

he talks about facial rollers in a few reaction videos, i think the one with mackenzie ziegler, and he doesn't like clarisonic, he said once that it's a form of physical exfoliation, and it's too stripping and not overly sanitary! I'm not sure about foreo, but i would love a video like this!

Regarding the Foreo: it's like $60 for a brush, which is pure marketing. You can get the same brush from Aliexpress or Amazon which would cost about $10, and get the same effect :) We have a KZreadr here in Russia who investigates different skincare brands' production and effectiveness with help of specialists and lab workers, and there was an investigation on Foreo that shows this price is, well, pulled out of a hat :)

I used to work for deciem (the parent company of the ordinary) and honestly they’re very strong in their mission statement of providing affordable and accessible skincare products that they really haven’t budged from that, even giving people a whole month of Black Friday sales instead of a day and other events like that because they want people to shop purposefully instead of impulsively. I don’t think the ordinary will change but I can’t speak for the inkey list. If anything, they both seem to have similar ethics when it comes to that so hopefully it won’t increase too much overall!

I wish the inkey list had less plastic focused packaging, I would appreciate the brand so much more than I already do!

I’ve never had a skin care routine. I just ordered a bunch of stuff that Hyram recommended from they Inkey List and I’m so excited!!!

My Opinion: They're both great, just know your skin type and get the products you need. even better, use both!

Thank you for the break down. Now that you helped me narrow it down I know which one to go with for my skin.

Personally I love the ordinary moisturiser, HA and niacinamide. I’m newish to the brand and bought from them from your video. The combination of these products cleared my skin within a week and calmed down my over oily skin. Might explore the inky list next

I’m team The Ordinary, but to be honest I haven’t tried any The Inkey List and you may have sold me on the cleansing balm. Going to have to try that after I finish my iUNIK cleansing oil.

Annie S I haven’t tried the moisturizer, just the cleansing oil and I do like it a lot! I just ordered Honest Beauty hydrogel cream because of Hyram and I’m so excited! Right now I use cereve moisturizer cream and the ordinary marula oil and I really like both of them.

I love you, Hyram. I'd really love to see a "Truth about e.l.f" video!

I got the Q10 Serum from the Inkey List a few days ago and even though I already love the serum itself, the plastic bottle seems so gimmicky. It's also a lot harder to dispense the product, the glass dropper bottles from The ordinary are far superior!

Amina T I bought the same serum and I was so annoyed for the same reason too. I literally just put it on my neck and chest to not waste the product and just to get it over with. It really is gimmicky.

Hey Hyram, I am new to your channel and let me tell you, it is very refreshing seeing your take on skin care did what you advised not to and went ahead and purchased 3 products (small haul) you recommended to incorporate into my routine. I had trouble sticking to a routine, but have been better about washing my face at the end of the night. However, I can SEE I’ve paid the price for not taking my skin seriously. Hi Hyram, I would be interested to see a video on a summary of the most commonly used active ingredients and what they are used for, but more importantly the combinations to favor and the ones to avoid : i see on a lot of products like vitamin C to "avoid using with such and such" so that would be really interesting to have a summary of the in case i missed one of them !

abby7560 abby7560 in ochem you learn how to break apart esters into carboxylic acids (like retinoic acid) and you also name esters using the carboxylic acid it can break down into. It’s one of the trickier things in the class imo is all and also something everyone who takes the class has to learn.

I have no idea what ochem is (the US learning system is kinda different from the European ones) but it sounds fun 😬 biochemistry? I just remember from my chemistry lessons that the most basic ester kinda tastes like strawberries. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Or was it something else 🤔 it's been 12 years.
