STOP Getting Snagged While Pier Fishing!

Ойын-сауық

We tried something we’ve never done before: we used a float rig to go pier fishing. We grew so tired of getting snagged, so we tried this simple hack to fix it AND IT WORKED. We were able to catch a multitude of fish using this method, and the best part: WE DIDN’T GET SNAGGED ONCE!
We are fishing on Jacksonville Pier in Jacksonville, Florida. We met up with some buddies of ours just to have a good time and see what we could catch. Using a float rig on a pier might not be unusual for some people, but it is a new method for us. Tell us your favorite way to pier fish in the comments below!

That setup on the piers down here Texas is definitely a trout slayer here too. Artificial or a well hooked dead shrimp with a popping cork is like the ice cream truck song to redfish here maybe you can try that.

I had that hard run happen to me recently. Probably a barracuda. No way to slow it down and it was under a dock to boot. The braid almost cut into me when I tried to cup the spool for additional drag. Never saw the fish but will never forget it. Also a shrimp for bait. Nice video.

Yea, I tried fishing the bay from a pier for the first time and got snagged 2x last night. LOL I usually fish freshwater and wanted to try saltwater. I didn't catch anything but I did have some nice nibbles on my line. I think I saw baby snook deep in the water down below. I used some rubber swim baits and believe it or not something was nibbling at my chicken heart I put on my hook. LOL Was fun even though I didn't catch anything. My first experience and it can only get better. I also learned that it's better to fish during the week, the weekends are way too busy with everyone fishing. Thanks for the video!!

Jay VanHouwe You can buy float stoppers that feed onto your main line, they have like a pin that you can then clamp the line with using some strength (pliers) or however you want to do it. My idea is usually give yourself a heap of line to let the float slide and then go as deep as you can. Keep adjusting the float stopper to shorten the line until you see your float bobbing straight (not laying on its side like he showed a bit in the video). If it’s straight up and down it means your sinker is holding in water and your bait is floating above the sea floor. Adjust accordingly if you feel like you’re getting no bites to go deeper or shallower. It’s a bit of a fiddle to get it set but once you’re set you just sit back and let the fish come!!

Instead of using a locking bead at the top. Use a sliding stop knot. That way you can adjust the depth of the float to 'any' length with ut being 2 ft or 200ft and still be able to cast
