    I went night fishing for the first time ever(I’m 11) and I caught my 7th species, a thorn back stingray. I caught him on black lug and squid

    Hi mate seen you on the pier tonight, hope you done well, i been fishing just over side of pier caught a few species tonight, apparently what i thought was a pollock turned ou to be a kelp cod

    Hi thanks, it varies from 6 to 12 foot depending on the depth of water when the tide comes in and goes out.

    Thanks Neil, I cant remember the size line or hook I used. Its best to match the line and hook size to the type of fish you are targeting or expecting to catch.

    I'm going fishing tomorrow and planning to try float .. what about stripe of mackerel or prawns for bait for pollock?

    Yes strips or mackerel should work.

    Have you tried using the frozen peeled prawns.. The prawn v raggies experiments, the prawn has caught the most on a lot of videos on here.. Its my first time viewing, so if you have covered that already, I apologise... If you have covered it what bait won..?

    I usually only float fish in the summer but it might be worth a shot depending on the area your fishing.

    I usually start at about 6ft deep then adjust up or down as the tide comes in and out.

    @@fishingintheukgarywood Look forward to that. Pretty rough ground around here for loosing tackle & desperate to catch some Mackerel, so i was thinking of putting out some floats with Gulp worms or similar whilst casting Sabikis on my big rod.

    It's an old rod I got off my dad years ago, I'm not sure what make of rod it is sorry.
