I’m a 22 year veteran of the volunteer fire department. The drive and passion for this life, because it’s more than a job, is just as strong, if not stronger, as when I began this journey.
the adrenaline of being in that truck with almost no idea of what you will see on the scene that's incredible though creepy at the same time. what I hate the most is when people hear the sirens but don't give way that's quite aweful as a feeling. stay strong be proud.
I retired after 33 years in the fire service. I do miss it. I never considered myself a hero. I took my job to heart and every call we ran we did our very best to lesson the impact on the people we came in contact with. We worked closely with law enforcement many times. I met many officers and the upmost respect for them. Great video.

Jim. Retired firefighter from the UK. Like you I always felt awkward when politicians praised us for just doing our job. Recently took my grandson to my old Fire Station. He loved it!! Modern fire engines are impressive!! Though talking to the crew, the manning is cut to the bone. I fear for our brothers and sisters.

we dont fear the fire , fire is fear of firefighters
When I was 5 years old I had a chimney fire and my local fire department put out the flames and saved my home (witch I still live in today) I thank every single firefighter for being brave and saving people every day Thank you so much yall for all you do
First second and damn i choked up. Look at them immediatly stopping what their doing and running straight to danger. Firefighters are my heroes (first being Jesus of course), some kids grow up on power rangers, superman, batman, xmen, but me? I grew up loving the every day hero. They're united as a family, they know their duty and do everything in their power to help even if it costs them a limb, their job or their life. I came across a story where a fireman took a 3 year old burned victim to the hospital himself because the ambulance never showed up, but he's getting punished for it anyway. Such a thankless job *salutes* thank you all firefighters for your service and God protect you all and bless you for your bravery.

I became a firefighter in 1968 when I was 19 years old in Massachusetts.In 1977 I moved to New York state where I was on a small city fire dept and did a tour also was a former fire captain on that department.Today I am on a fire department in Connecticut where today I am working in the capacity as an incident safety officer because of my age,I am no longer engage in fire fighting operations. MY fire department also runs the ambulance and Emergency Medical Services.I have seen a lot in my 50 years in the fire service,including a lot of horrible stuff.The department I belong to also has responded to suicides.One of the most unpleasent suicides we had to respond to was for a teenage girl that hanged herself.
Watching this video makes me realize how much I miss being a firefighter rushing in to the station throwing on that gear getting on the rig screaming down the highway and pulling up to a house with fire blowing out the front door nothing like it in the whole world

after 7 years as a volunteer firefighter/EMT I am now retired after becoming disabled due to health non fire related and I too miss it
I think it should be mandatory to have police and fire training 2 years of each.those are jobs that get people used to bravery and away from video games which is the reason we are having problems in the streets today.video games.so anybody that has been suffering from playing too many video games call the police academy and go take your boxing lessons.
For freedom and justice for all, For the ones who sacrifice their lives.. The ones who helped on 9/11, 9/11 is about bravery and teamwork that's what Hero really means. God bless the sacrificed ones🤍🙏🤍🙏

Firefighting is not even close to Two Steps From Hell if you treat it as a JOB and not an adrenaline rush or adventure. If people stopped portraying it as bravery and heroics, fewer firefighters would be injured and die. Tribute like this do nothing but hurt the profession.
@neptun2810

I think you are partially right about that. There is a Japanese quote, that I think kind of addresses the problem here: “Charging into the chaos of a battle, and getting slain in it, is very easy, and the first roughneck that comes along can do that. But true courage means to live when it is right to live, and only to die when it is right to die”. Needlessly risking your live is not brave, it is stupid. And that’s not what makes Fire Fighters heroes. They are the ones you call when the situation went far out of control, so they rush in and save the day and maybe your life. The nature of the job is basically that the Fire Service goes right to that spot where everyone else is running away from. The Siren and Light Signals basically tell everyone “get out of the way and get out of here, we take it from here”. So Fire Fighters are not heroes because they risk their own safety to safe you, but because they rush in to help you when no one else can. Because they save lives and prevent damage. A Firefighter that saves a victim from a burning, fully smoked house is a hero not because he puts his own live at some risk even with breath protection, but because he saves a live that no one else could possibly have saved.

@@neptun2810 You should write movie scripts. Fantasy movie scripts. You were right in the beginning, wrong at the end. For the most part, USA has fire players, not firefighters. All these videos Prove it if you ONLY, evaluate their performance without the fantasy you described. Here's a news flash that will show you how wrong you are. The FDNY is one of the worst departments in the world and my playlist on them proves that statement.
@neptun2810

@@JB91710 That's precisely what I said. You don't play with fire, you don't try to be tuff or seeking adventure, you stay focussed and do your job. Of course there are a lot of Firefighters who don't, but I was describing how Firefighters should act, not how every single one of them acts. Are you a Firefighter yourself or something like that? PS: There are indeed some dangerous mistakes in his video, look at the Clip from 02:08. Every Firefighter knows that on a burning Car the Gas tank might break and make burning gasoline spill all over a few square metres. These two guys stood far to close to the Car and got caught in the flames. Big mistake. Always keep your own safety in mind when dealing with Fire.
