They pose constantly. Never wrangling a toddler or picking up after their dogs. Never carrying groceries only walking through the park. Life is not a walk in the park most days.

Oops, I'm guilty. I've been wearing the same basic style since I was a teenager - blazer, jeans, high heels. The only difference now is that I wear more expensive versions of it. 😜

I'm lucky to be independently wealthy and live in a country where I can have my clothes tailor made for a very nice price. I create pieces that are timeless and very ladylike for my wardrobe. I pair them w good leather bags and shoes and have been wearing the same gold and silver jewelry for years...I have my own style

I have an hourglass figure: bigger chest, small waist, and wider hips. I have lost a lot of weight this past year, but keep the same type of shape. Wearing dresses with cinched in waist, suits me best. Thank you for your videos, they are wonderful. I am a Frenchwoman also, and I agree with you about what we like and don't like lol

One of your pictures was of the “accidental icon” she’s fabulous and I adore her vintage style. She’s not trying to dress like a younger woman she just adores color and uses it vividly.

Frederique--Just wanted to share with you that the other day I was getting dressed and playing around with earrings and necklace(s). I took a look in the mirror and thought "I look like a Christmas tree!". I opted for just the earrings! Thank you for all of your fashion advice. It is definitely sinking in!!!

Great advice, as always. Yes on age-appropriateness, it should definitely be taken into consideration. Older women who wear teen-20s styles is a big thing here in the US, and it’s so jarring and, yes, aging!

Yes. I totally agree with dressing for your body type. I'm very petite and thin and there are just some adorable clothes that just don't suit me so I avoid them. Great advice, like always. ❤️

So many people are wearing any style, any color because they can - they don’t seem to ask themselves if they should. Not everything flatters everyone.

Frederique, I love how you advise so wisely for women my age. I think wearing the classics with basic colors instead of dressing like you did in your 20's with lots of, or too much color. Just adding a "fun or colorful" new accessory elevates my out fit from young 20 something to a CONFIDENT and elegant woman of today! Thank you! Love your channel and your fun personality!

I am 5' 4" I am slim but getting a tummy trying to loose tummy....but I love xx large white button down shirts, yes I am almost drowning in it but the sleeves are perfect length for my arms, I feel like a runway model in it, lol. I pair it with blue jeans of course and I can go with fancy shoes, boat shoes or tennis shoes. I have one that is xx large and it has red flowers scattered here and there on it and I get lots compliments on it.

I live in the U.S. I find the selection of quality clothing to be unavailable. One evening, my husband and I went to a local restaurant for dinner. As we were waiting, I noticed most women wearing the same garments, including jewelry pieces. All bought from a popular chain store. They all looked like walking advertisements! But where are the selection, the variety, and the quality? It was eye-opening.

@@dresser6135 Yes, I have noticed. The 20th century introduced 'ready to wear' and thus, the need for a dressmaker slowly vanished. It is safe to say, at the medium and under price point, all stores had quite a few of similar items. The difference being is- women didn't traditionally buy everything they saw on a display mannequin as a package. It was and is still considered a faux pas in some circles to be one of many wearing the same thing. Maybe the actual art of dressing is unknown to some?

This happens in North America in general, but I find that at least here in Toronto Canada, this issue is more of a suburban style mind set. Downtown there is so much more selection in the way of independent boutiques, vintage and second hand stores, small designer lines, etc. The thing to do is explore and try. Those Fast Fashion lines are a Style Pandemic.

I agree, the quality of clothing here is terrible. I was in my 20s in the 1980s and the quality was 10 x better!

Frederique, please make a video about shoes! I am so sick and tired of sport shoes invading all styles for years now. I get it, they are comfortable and some would say fashionable, I am guilty of having a few too many pairs myself, but I'd be interested in what your ideas on this matter are.

At 54 I realized I am a little bit bohemian, preppy, NYC and Paris chic, hippie and flashy. I love bits and bobs of those different styles. I can't define myself into one box. I try but it isn't me to stick to one style. I love all different kinds!

At age 61, it’s sometimes hard finding age-appropriate styles at fast-fashion stores. There’s no way I’m going to wear crop-tops, cutouts, mini-dresses, short-shorts, etc. I think fast fashion is also, at least partly, responsible for the look-alike trend in young women, they literally are wearing identical items. Then, the proliferation of influencers, and outfit copying, is a big factor, too. I still love fast fashion, especially H&M, but I stick to items that work for my age, personal style and lifestyle: bra-friendly tops and dresses, just-above-the-knee skirts and dresses, etc. I think H&M has something for everybody, just avoid the polyester.

Re: "mutton dressed as lamb" - in my humble opinion regardless of age women can wear the latest trends colours as well as the classics. I love fashion everything that goes with it and can't imagine ever not wanting to look my best even in my old age lol! I would love to know Frederique what u wore in your teenage years and twenties!

So true about finding your style, I wore a linen Black strappy shoulder tie jumpsuit recently and White linen tie up front shirt and minimal gold jewellery to a bar and it was the most comfortable and stylish I think I have ever felt rather than over doing it with the dress, the makeup, the hair etc!

Yes, please do a video on finding your style. I think my tastes are changing and I no longer feel good in things I used to wear!

Im 62 yrs wear fashion clothes but when I was onced out bonding with friends finally in winter last year wanted look diffrent , dressed up with a very colorful (to highlightened the party under covid) blouse,black pants /trousers which later I regretted coz of the photo taken from someone.Folks folks wear dark , black colors. I normaly wear uniforms but on the photo I stand out, the center of attention which dont prefer but I like your energyvibes , videos.

Love the advice and your energy.

I agree on much of what you say. When I was in my late teens and early 20’s back in the 1980’s, I avoided the junior department in the clothing stores because the clothes were so silly. I guess I have always been more of a casual-classic in my style preference, even back then. But when I hit my late 30’s/early 40’s, many clothing choices were one extreme or another; for example: looking for shorts for the hot summers in my area, I found either short-shorts or frumpy shorts, not much in between. And when faced with THAT dilemma, I chose the longest “short-shorts” I could find, rather than fall into Frump Town. 😬🤣 But finally, it seems that clothing manufacturers realize there are a lot of women in between very young and “mature” 😊, and much more stylish, but modest options are available.

Hi Frédérique! Thank you for the lovely video! I have realized that every single time I moved home, which happened a lot, I have thrown or given away clothes. My taste have changed, I have changed, went through all my clothes and I ended up getting rid of 1-2 big bin bag sized pile of clothes. Throughout the years I have opted for classic and sleek style, and looking back at the items I wore, they looked a bit chaotic. Thank you for your advices!! Xx

Have you tried a black foundation with flashes of color? A colorful scarf or sweater, or colorful jewelry? One of my favorite looks is a dark or neutral skirt or pants with a colorful top; a splash of color next to the face is lively.

As far as age goes, I think one thing I can get away with and stay more “fashion” than basic is in my shoes. It’s a great place to add some colour and style. Unfortunately I can’t wear a heel anymore but I do have proportionately long legs for 170cm so I have some leeway there.

Love that you aren't afraid to say what is truthful, e.g. there IS such a thing as age appropriate clothing (but that doesn't mean you can't look fabulously stylish whatever your age.) I would add that at any age YOU must wear the clothes not the other way around; if people see the dress before they see you, something has gone wrong. That's why you are SO correct to warn not to wear too many colours, or the rainbow is all people will see.

I had a rainbow fringe at the age of 66. I am retired and love colour but I would still keep to the 3 colour rule with my clothes. I have had many compliments on my rainbow hair.
