I have a double gig bag by gator as well, extremely well made, I’ve been using it for 5 years, traveling all around the world (I work on cruise ships as musician) and never had a problem. Then last year I was getting a flight from London to Portugal and the airline (TAP) made me check my guitar at my gate 15min before flying. It was the most stressful situation ever! I was worried because of my Les Paul. I took videos in case my guitars get damaged. Thankfully they were fine. The gator double gig bag did a wonderful job protecting them! Now I made a custom gig bag for only one guitar but nowadays the airlines are getting more & more strict so I’ll definitely consider getting one of that vault and travel safe with my guitars. Cheers ⚡️🎸

Yup yup - I have the gator dual electric bag - you are right - that thing rocks carrying around town! such a time savor to be able to throw it on your back and have both hands free.

That looks like a great solution for flying. Gator makes some great stuff. I've been using a double gig bag for a couple of years now for my JTV-59 and JTV-69. Big benefit for me is that I can strap it on my back and I can then carry my Helix in it's backpack like luggage and my gig bag with exp pedal and other accessories and I can get it all in one trip. And the zip up on the gig bag is great for smaller accessories and my tablet.

Nicky it’s good to see you here! I’m carrying two JTV’a in my Mjni Vault. I haven’t had to fly with them yet but it handles the road miles perfectly well. Grab one if you can!

Really happy I went with the reunion blue case for the typical electric guitars, but I wish it fit a typical semi hollow. I might try the gator acoustic/electric and see if that works for me instead.

RBX is good for me. If I'm flying I'll use my individual Gator/Fender/SKB plastic cases and carry them individually with gate checks, but if I'm staying in the PNW the RBX is an amazing product.

Years ago I got tired of carrying 3 guitar cases and a guitar stand. I bought a 3 guitar vault from Rock Case. Best investment I've ever made. Now I don't have to worry about where I'm going to store my guitar cases, or where I can put the guitar stand. I just wheel this case on stage and open it up. My straps and whammy bars are all on the guitars ready to go. And the lid is padded so it makes a great guitar work station if you lay it flat.

I’m ok with 2 cases. On the fly gigs I just bring a hardtail and spare strings. Digitech drop for alt tunings. I have deheadstocked a gibson, but that was on stage

I think theyre mostly the same, but this ones a bit shorter and has more access to the guitars like a stand would. The enki goes way up the front so you have to lift the guitar out vertically. I would like to see them side by side still

Looks like a well thought out product. With the built-in guitar stand feature, might even be useful for just storing guitars at home.

Hey if they work for you, cool. But I have used cases for years, although I travel much less these days. I’ve had cases tumble down a flight of stairs a couple of times and been banged around with no damage. But sure it can happen. I have walked long distances with two guitars in cases and survived. Again YMMV, and that’s cool Now that double case thing is cool. If I had a current use for it, I would check it out, especially for the stand part.

Love your work Steve, moved my rig to the Tone Master Pro recently and really been loving it. Your vids are very helpful to people that are considering the switch from tubes, appreciate it! But damn man that thing looked shaky AF when you were talking about using it for a stand, even when you magnetized the back. At 500+ I’d be so bummed if my Les Paul’s headstock broke…again lol. Is there any way you could make a short or something that shows that thing being sturdy?

Looks nice but if the airline loses your luggage you are screwed. Because of that I will always carry one guitar on the plane in a gig bag and curb check the other in molded case. If they lose my luggage at least I have 1 guitar to do the gig.

@@SteveSterlacciwhile the outside part seems quite sturdy, I am guessing the above comment was said because the guitars can shake around quite a bit inside - and that was with minimal movement, so imagine what would happen when airlines start tossing your stuff in loading/unloading areas. Think about how Sweetwater packs guitars to ship to its customers. Damage happens when guitars have room to shake and move within after withstanding a drop or crush - it’s basic physics. SW uses inflatable pillows and foam that conforms as much as possible within the shipping box’s space to virtually eliminate movement within. That means the risk of damage from careless loading/unloading and heavy objects being stacked on top is virtually eliminated unless a forklift runs over the box. There is just way too much open space in this Gator locker, and they need a better way to eliminate it so various shapes and sizes of guitars will fit without all the shaking and open space inside the case - whether it’s foam inserts or some sort of giant inflatable “pillow” (using a hand pump, teeny electric pump, vacuum, etc.) or additional foam/gel inserts that would totally cushion any remaining space so there’s literally no movement possible. It also needs two separate, much thicker and more secure strap to secure each neck individually to the case on its own instead of a large rubber band that is way to loose and thin, which encourages both necks to sway in unison as the case is moved or turned over. And because it’s so loose, I bet it’s possible for the headstocks to smack together or against the sidewalls with very little effort. Sure you can try stuffing clothing and such, but for a trunk this size, it needs to be totally secure. Ola Englund bought something similar recently to tour with, but I forget what company made it. It also had some design flaws with a lot of open space, but it seemed much more robust and the guitars didn’t seem to shake around inside as much because of the way they were separated and secured. I hope they’ll improve on the inner design because the outside and the magnetic thing for taking off the top and connecting it behind is very smart. Gator makes some really great stuff, but I don’t think I’d want to trust expensive guitars inside this thing unless the guitars are insured for damaged protection and aren’t irreplaceable.

@MashaT22 you're also judging on when the lid is off. If you see the section where I put the lid on, it totally locks them in place at the body and closes off the part at the headstocks. So, when the lids on there isn't the play that you see when it's in "stand" position. I will do some flights with this and provide an update at some point, but I'm pretty confident going in. Thanks for the conversation and addition!

@@SteveSterlacci I don't know man maybe the ground below was uneven or something but it just looks like it would easily fall down, and the foam on the inside looks a bit too soft and while I'm sure the guitar wouldn't take a hit with the actual case, it seems like the two guitars are likely to hit each other. You just know airport staff is going to yeet that case of a flight of stairs if they want, and I wouldn't trust it just looking at it, maybe it feels different in person.

@NoOne-ye5jf I can absolutely promise you my driveway is not flat AT ALL lol. So that is definitely a factor if you're concerned. I'm curious to try it. I won't be trying out my vintage gibsons for the first flight but I'll give a fair shot and see what happens. Most likely the teles will be in there for flying
