If you're dealing with a new client it might be good for both them and you to know if they want to go shopping to Lidl or Gucci ^^

Don't adjust to the clients, always have the dignity of a professional expert. Offer your levels of quality - Fast, Regular or Best. Don't change that, otherwise you will end up broke doing stuff for free. Remember the 80/20 Rule. And you know what? Those who want quality, they don't respect discounts. So people with money will stay away from you, while cheap beggars will ask you do everything for free. Divide by zero, boom. You're broke because you're too nice.

I didn't understand the "80/20 rule" part, can you elaborate on that? thanks!

@@user-nr5xp6yd8zThe last 20% will eat up 80% of your time. So towards the end, the project barely changes but takes a lot of effort and time. Edit, damn half of the comment is missing thanks to your hacker name 🥵

I can't argue with you on this, mate. I find myself doing that with some clients and don't feel I got the best deal at the end. It's always better to name your price first then they negotiate. Good advice.

I live in a country where people take negotiation too personal, it's in our culture (Romania). I found out that the best course of action with many clients is to ask about the budget first, and if the budget is a bit under your radar, you try to present your cheapest and most affordable packages, while also showing off your beefier ones. Some will be willing to pay extra for the better packages, and others will just say the cheapest will suffice. Foreign clients on the other hand will almost immediately accept the budget you propose with very little negotiation on their part.

Bad advise. A client looking for a premium product don't want to see cheap options, or the other way around. Try to look at it in a constructive manner. Going for groceries is a bad analogy.

Yeah Groceries wasn’t a great example, I agree 😂 Still I think it is important to have your prices and stick with them.
