"Stop And Searches Wouldn't Have Made A Difference To Me!" | Former Gang Member On Knife Crime
Gangsline consultant Sheldon Thomas says 'stop and searches' wouldn't have made a difference to him when he was a gang member.
"Social media should take responsibility for people promoting the lifestyle! It's a culture."
Policing minister Chris Philp has called on forces to increase the use of stop and search as part of a “robust approach” to tackle knife crime.
Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Mr Philp described stop and search as a “vital tool” which is “not used nearly often enough”.
“The police must use the powers available to them without fear or favour,” he wrote ahead of a week of action on knife crime.
“I want to see them take a robust approach and this starts with increasing the use of stop and search."

They actually invited someone on the show who could articulate the problem with knives very well, and it's not just a "black issue"

@@stevemarks9360It’s fundamental. If they weren’t R they’d be a lot less comfortable allowing black men to kill each other, fall into a life of crime & waste their lives in prison. Instead they veto stop & search initiatives because they’re scared of being called hurty words.

True in London @@ruledtrendy5066
Well done talktv for putting on a black person, and not some crazy activists
He hits the nail on the head at 2.20, " most of the people involved in knife crime prevention, have never been involved in knife crime" This is true of so many things that affect the working classes.
Racially motivated REPEAT harrasment by law enforcement is one thing. But what does an Innocent Man or Woman have anything to hide ?
We need more people like Sheldon. People who can share their lived experience and the longer term impacts.
I doubt any hardened criminals would be deterred by stop and search, but perhaps some younger kids MIGHT be deterred possibly..
Even before this EX Gang member spoke ! I knew exactly what was goin to deliver. Sometimes that Chip on the Shoulder needs to fall . MET dammed if do or don’t. Having gone to fantastic inner city School of Multicultural identity in 80’s ,and myself (white) was not majority, simply never ever a case off Racism against Blacks Indians Pakistani white,in fact isolated case was involving Pakistani and Black kids ,pushing shoving. Great times to live And still we see connect with each other. SKA DAYS 👌
Shut down the social media, problems solved, simple as that
It would've if he'd been caught
Always blame. Sheldon. Culture we live in England 🏴 everyone should live by the English culture and laws. Don’t blame. Parents that’s all parents do your job teach your kids. The country needs discipline and less blame and feeling you’re owed
Sheldon 💯 right.
Softly softly approach is not working . Young people have no fear of authorities . At no time in history have children run the show like they do now .
😂🤣 - kids are still growing up in poverty but you think laws & tech will stop them, goodluck bud
Had all this years ago, black people moaned because they were being pulled up all the time

It was because as the guy said, outside of London, Birmingham and a maybe like Manchester in parts, it’s a lot of white guys that are into this gun and knife culture but it’s always more geared towards black guys. If it’s done equally across the board the no one law abiding should complain. They can search me all they like, I got nothing to hide just if they make me late for workdays, just give me a receipt for the stop to show my boss lol
we imported the problem and the government tied the hands of the police, reap what you sow.

Bro gangs in the uk have always been a thin lmao it just got worse with more people in poverty and the glamorisation of gang life. Also a lot of these kids are raised by gang members so their mentality is even worse! Some are generational family criminals getting worse with each generation
