Stony Brook Provost's Lecture Series: Mary Jo Bona, SUNY Distinguished Professor

The Stony Brook Provost's Lecture Series features talks by the university's SUNY Distinguished Academy faculty highlighting their areas of deep expertise. Mary Jo Bona delivered a talk, "Mothers, Mobility, Narrative: Othermothering and Maso’s The Art Lover in the AIDS Era" on February 6, 2024.
Bona is a SUNY Distinguished Professor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and English, as well as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences. She has been on the Stony Brook faculty since 1999. Her research and expertise are in feminist literary studies examining the nexus between gender and ethnicity, with transnational migratory identities, material cultures, and Italian diaspora studies as primary intersections.
