STONE - A Doctor Who Short Horror Film

After over 300 hours of rendering, it's finally done! For future video updates, you can like me on Facebook at www.facebook.c....
This is my first ever CG short film. It's the culmination of about three months of work, from initial concept to final result. I had to use every single trick and technique I knew, as well as learn countless more.
The programs used were Mudbox, Maya, After Effects, and Premiere.
Enjoy!

    I think it was that one scene where they were in the hospital listening to the recording, and then they realised the recording wasn't playing anymore which was what ingrained the empty child in my memory as terrifying. It didn't help that my parents spent the next week or so ingraining it in my memory as terrifying.

    Actually HTC Vive Pro Eye launched few months ago and has eye tracking supplied by Tobii. But before that, "blink tracking" could easily be done by checking the light reflection on the eye. Luca Mefisto did this about three years ago[1] by hacking a GearVR (removing a screw to access the Note 4 front camera) and then using blink as game mechanic. This was really good, it was just the ending that didn't work, you could still see the Angels, which means the character could to, and yet they started to move.

  • @georgedude7741

    @georgedude7741

    10 жыл бұрын

    You could only just see them, ans I guess the logic from Flesh and Stone works here: They think you can see them, they turn to stone (but start being able to move if they doubt it, the more they believed they were being observed, the more their movements were restricted). Likewise, it makes sense to suggest that since it was dark and they knew he couldn't see well, they'd be able to partially start moving. I guess they sensed he couldn't see them well since they were in the shadows and started moving. Perhaps a cloud was coming overhead that would fully darken the area, maybe they turned out the entire street lights soon after the flashlight (hence why it suddenly cuts to black), or perhaps the character really couldn't see and it broke the fourth wall a bit to show what was happening in the last moment, rather than what he sees. It could also be that these Angels evolved a bit since they and can move slightly in very low visibility. Personally, I go with the street lights idea.

    George Dolley Though, here's a thought: Would the angels really need to stay still if their prey is surrounded? Unless it's something automatic, which it could very well be based on the Tenth Doctor's explanation on "Blink". But if they are able to control the "turn to stone", they shouldn't care in this because their prey was surrounded.

  • @georgedude7741

    @georgedude7741

    10 жыл бұрын

    Mikari It IS automatic. They may be able to do it voluntarily, but they can't undo it voluntarily. In Blink, he defeats them by tricking them into looking at each other. As they each observe each other, they're stuck in stone form. This would be totally useless if they could come out of stone form at will. Upon the knowledge that they're being observed, they HAVE to be stone. That said, it could be that they're choosing to release the stone form slowly in the video if becoming stone is voluntary simply to screw with him, they've been known to be quite sadistic in messing with their prey when they're not rushed for time.

    A theory of mine And it's on a not-too-popular video so I can get the real fans thinking on it. The weeping angels are ancient Timelords Ah-ah, give me a minute to explain. In the final episode with David Tennant as the doctor, when Gallifrey was pulled out of the Time-War for about two minutes, the president, or high-leader, called the two people (I think both were women, or, I dunno, Timelordettes) "The weeping angels of old" And that got me thinking. Think about it. What evolution could have possibly lead to this? A punishment for high treason. unable to contact anyone else without turning to stone. They lived for thousands, if not millions of years. Timelords that old could tap into the system, literally living of potential energy, punching holes in the fabric of space and time for a meal. The "Weeping" part could probably be a mark of shame that they were forced to take.

    There needs to be an episode like this. Perhaps in a way where a show like Most haunted is being filmed. The camera crew hear a strange noise (noise of the TARDIS) and stumble on The Doctor, TARDIS and Companion and ignoring the warnings of The Doctor, end up encountering either Weeping Angels or Gelth (maybe even Cybermen under better design/closer to Classic Cybers) haunting a big ruined house/mansion/castle/ETC. It would be a good story for fear factor plus it would probably be really really cheap to make and could be the money saving episode of the year. I can actually picture it filmed in night vision/black and white with Capaldi staring down the camera telling everyone not to Blink. Hell. Even have the person holding the camera not say a word throughout the whole episode would make it feel like we, the audience were the ones involved!

    They would probably zap him back into time but since he can travel through time he'd probably go right back to where he was before, look at the Angel, tilt his head, squint, and say "Why would you do that?" ajjsjsjsjs

    What's wrong with them moving? They've been seen to move in episodes before, and what we saw was them turning into their non stone form (we only see them start moving, not the final thing, for obvious reasons). The lights went out, it got dark, so due to low visibility they were able to start moving. Then the lights went out altogether, and I guess he's no more.

    It's because his regen cycle was reset. The first few regens of the doctor were mild but got more extreme as they moved on. So smith to capaldi went from 13 to 1 so it was both the most extreme and most mild regen yet.
