Derek we absolutely love watching you do anything with cars or anything. Don't ever apologize for your videos, we are blessed to be able to go along with you guys for your journey. Also I wanted to thank you for thinking about the future and doing it the right way so you or someone else could put it back to stock because those cars are hard to find and even though I like some other shows you are the only one I see that actually cares about the history of your cars.

Love this idea. I am still struggling what route to take with another NASCAR favorite. My 76 Laguna also with a 400sbc.
You are one in a million Derek. Many car shop channels out there but you put yours together from simple beginnings in your home garage (with blessings from the family of course). Others are obviously just kids with lots of dad's money to play games with. Anyone can just replace parts with Chinese flea-bay knockoffs to get an engine running, but it takes experience and mechanical know-how to do it the way you do with explanation to boot.. A real American.
For an old guy like me, thank you for your videos cause we can't afford cable. And Wow how we car lovers ( Older Cars ) really enjoy seeing these grave gems come alive. Just proves that they were once built to last and not built out of plastic.
Best way to start a Friday night….With a fresh VGG episode!

I had a 73. Same color. Only had a 350 but was fun. One wheel peel half way down the block. I’m going to enjoy this! Memories! I traded a 77 impala for it. Rear end was going out on the impala. The Monty was running terrible. All it needed was points replaced. A guy at the carry out I hung out at fixed it for me for a case of Bush beer. I was 19.
My Momma had a 1973 Monte Carlo . beautiful and was a tough car too.
Guess a guy can go ahead and like this IMMEDIATELY….👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
When I was 14 my oldest cousin turned 16, and our grandpa gave him his 1977 Monte Carlo as a birthday present. It didn’t run obviously and had mushrooms growing in the trunk (northwest Washington) but we were over the moon and had it running in a few days. It was baby blue with a white vynal top. White interior of the finest pleather with swivel bucket seats!!! Man we had a time in that car! I can’t even hear the name without smiling.
TN cracks me up with snow. I moved here from PA and snow wasn't a big deal. We move here and they call for snow and close down schools lol. I have my battery set up the same way in my truck. All the aftermarket stuff is hooked to side posts. It does make it a lot nicer
The race has begun before the race has begun! What a challenge, fantastic

All of the cars you are working on are ones I grew up working on as new cars and I am so glad you are doing your best to bring these cars back to life. THANK YOU !!!!
Keep another radiator handy. My cold case radiator lasted 3 weeks before a massive failure at the core and tank. Love the build!

Best friend had one of these complete with New York State rust. Tommy loved it . Handicap controls for gas and brake, it would move good . It had a 350 in it. The hood was like 50 feet long .Rest in peace Tommy. Gone but never forgotten.
I’d forgotten about this car. Had to go rewatch the original episode. What a great rig.
I love this era Monte Carlo. There are a father and son who both race these on Saturday nights in the Pure Stock Division at my local dirt track! This is great!
I love this and I do NOT want to wait for part II. Someone, PLEASE help me. A feller would watch this any day of the week but this Friday night drop is hittin' this guy strong. Keep it up!!
It's always amazing to watch these cars become something other then a tree row ornament. This one's gonna be killer.
I'd change that chargerwhirler out right now. Easier to do in your shop instead of at the track. Moving to this new shop was absolutely the right move! Go where God leads you.
One of two channels in my world, where you like the video first and then get a cold snack and start watching, knowing it will be good.
This is a super exciting build. 70's and 80's era stock cars are my favorites. Can't wait for part 2! Thanks Derek!
This awesome. I sure do miss my 76 montie. I am so excited you chose this car. Thank you for all your hard work
Now l'm the guy all the way over in England, talking to my buddies about sparkolators, fuel make-it-happeners and lightnin whirlers! Thank you Derek for your Zen-like approach to old car problems. Whenever l face a challenge, l say to myself "now what would Derek do?" Perfect! 😍
Rip the paint with a thick flap disc and then paint with a shiny primer to grip the wrap! Love this one Derrick!
One of my all-time favorite generation of Chevy Monte Carlo, thank you, enjoy watching.
Because of you I took on salvaging a 1991 k1500 that was headed to the junkyard and I have rebuilt the motor and went through everything mechanically and I am starting on the interior and exterior now. Thank you for the inspiration and introducing me to something that I now love to do and will continue to do after I finish this truck I will be moving on to something else! Thank you for the videos and all the knowledge. You and your family are more to people than just a show you are role models and inspire people with what you do!
Derek, I even get glued to your commercial. Thanks for the entertainment.

Cool, I'm looking forward to 2022 with VGG.
I can see it already. Open faced helmets, greasy face, smoke hanging off the lip total NASCAR good ole days fun. It’s gonna be awesome. Love it.
You got to make some covers for the headlights so when you're sitting at a track you can cover them and make it look more NASCAR authentic. This is going to be a cool project !!!

Still have a 77 Monte Carlo that was my mom's car. Spent it's entire life in Michigan. Had to replace both doors and do some other body work, but 90% of the car is original. Mom was very careful to spray the wheel wells at the quarter car wash in the winter. Really saved the sheet metal. Tried to replace some of the trim on the sides but the prices were out of reach. Just had the pins ground off and the side marker lights filled in. New black paint and replaced the landau top. Swivel bucket seats always draw a second look.
My favorite monty carlo is the 76.. Mine had swivel seats center shift gauges instead of dummy lights. I had mine for 10 years.. Two motors and a tranny done all my self. The first motor was a 350. The next one was a 396.. I loved that car! It was my cruiser.
I wonder how many thousands & thousands of those old Montes have been made into stock cars & raced on the local speedways in the 80s???? They made great figure 8 cars. I've built & raced several years ago. Great old cars great old memories.

I've been dreaming for 40 decades of building a 70 monte carlo hot rod. Or pro street car. Then life got in the way. Now 57 years old 100% disabled with very little strength that dream will most likely never come true, but I'll get to enjoy this build with you as it comes together. My plan was the ultimate sleeper but a nascar build would certainly be right up there with something I would concider a bad azzz monte.

I don't have one, but I've seen videos. The Eastwood CONTOUR SCT Surface Conditioning Tool could make quick work of the paint on the sides. Love your channel sir! Always fun!
I’ve been putting off doing exactly what your doing with the rust repair on my truck. But now I think it’s time to get after it. Thanks for the motivation and confidence do it.
What a nice surprise. You've got me wrenching with a basic hobo freight toolkit yet again, thank you my man. Much love from my family to yours.
Yes Derek, The South cannot deal with much snow at all. We have too many hills, no salt trucks, or snow plows. We also have an abundance of drivers with no snow / ice driving experience. That's why our schools close when we get flurries. I worked in Minnesota one spring. The snow was only 3 to 4 feet deep, and the Mississippi River was frozen solid. I was driving 55 mph on icy roads, in a 2wd Suburban, and the locals were passing me honking their horns calling me a southern driver with my Ohio plates. Too funny!
Jou are just top class Derick. Just do what you do and we'll keeping watching.

It was very nice to see the MN license plate! Our weather is very winterish today. I get to do some snow blowing! You made the right move heading south, but I know how the 1 inchers can shut everything down in the mid southern states. Can't wait to see the wrap.
I love this! I have a '51 Plymouth Concord that I'm planning to paint up as a tribute "Lee Petty Special" from the 1951 NASCAR season. These videos keep inspiring me to turn wrenches so thank you and keep up the good work!
Always a good day when we get a new video
Man , your nice body work looks great if you ask me . You're talented on many levels!
Green flywheel cover is an aftermarket item from The Connection now owned by Dorman. I used to sell a bunch of them years ago in my new and used auto parts business.
You're finally somebody that cares about old cars and cares about things to do with him it's really cool that you bring your boys along and your family. Keep up the good work might teach a little more safety around the kids and tell him safety First thumbs up every time I watch you
Derek you are definitely one of my fav You Tube channels. I had a body shop for 20 years. Started out with rustorations, and then it became the largest shop in Western Delco with 11 full time. The point I wanted to get to was that I started doing 55-57 TBird restorations. I did the body end of thngs, and the company out of Exton did the rest. They were frame up. Couldn't tell it wasn't a brand new car when done. Okay, okay let me get to the simple point. In order to remove paint from a car the secret which equals very little work, and great results is to buy about 4 gallons of a good paint stripper. Mask off all of the seams around door, trunk, hood edges and don't purposely put stripper on the tape. Bury the car in stripper. Make it soaking wet. Walk away and let the stripper do all of the work. You can even use a plastic squeegee to remove the paint. Don't do any scraping; that's work. Put on another super wet coat. Let it sit. You'll know when it is time to remove it. You'll find the end result is totally bare metal. Clean it all off and then remove the tape from the door etc. seams, and use a DA with 80 grit and take that little rim of paint that was under the tape off. Bingo. Don't worry about using 80 grit because this is metal which resists the sand paper from digging in. Next up you want to use metal etch liquid on the paint. All car manufaturer "pickle" the metal with acid so it will accept the paint, and also it dissolves the little tiny seeds of rust that are now all over the metal since those metal sandng dust particles are so sensitive to moisture that even the humidity in the air will turn them into seeds of rust. Cover it with primer and skip the acid treatment, and with a year or two you will have peeling paint, with a skim of rust on the metal. Use the acid and you can leave the metal hanging on a wall without any primer or paint and it won't rust. This comment is getting kind of long, and I have something else to share with you about all of this, so I will start a new comment.

What I am talking about here is doing up a car like you saw in the car show you just went to. Mind blowing quality, and thanks to these tips, it's not out of reach to do one. Sandblasting makes all of the difference. I saw that look in your eye when you got done seeing those cars. Love your channel just the way it is though. Love that your doing up a 74 Monte, that was my first car, I loved that boat, and you don't see much done with them anywhere, (probably because there so heavy), mine was a 400, 2 brl carb, with every option available in that year, to bad I caved in the quarter panel doing donuts in a intersection and I hit a road sign, out in the country in the middle of nowhere, that and rust under the chrome ended it's life, thanks Derek love the channel
