    Geri - I've been ice dyeing for several months now and I wanted to let you know that you are my original inspiration to try dyeing and I'm so grateful. You are much more precise in your work than I am - but you still inspire me all the time 😊💕I LOVE your work!! This suit is magnificent!! I've been wanting to try the stitch resist method so I enjoyed watching the tutorial!

    Hi Geri, Wow, your work is wonderful! What a good tip to use nylon thread instead. I came across lots of difficulties as I kept using cotton thread. Thank you.

    Hi Geri! I'm keen to try this - did you prewash your fabric before stitching?

  • @GeriInStitches

    @GeriInStitches

    11 ай бұрын

    Yes, pre washing is a must. Depending on the dye you use, you might need to scour the fabric as well. Especially for natural dyes. Pretreating gets rid of commercial coatings on the favores that prevent full penetration of dyes

    Wow aweomse project!! Definitely want to try this. Just wondering.. is the fabric not shrinking in the boiling process?

  • @GeriInStitches

    @GeriInStitches

    Thanks! I always pre wash and press the fabric before stitching. And that minimizes shrinking during dyeing

    You are using nylon thread. Which thickness do you advise? And can you use it on tshirts as well?

  • @GeriInStitches

    Hi Margot, I use the thinnest nylon thread that I can find so that I can use it on lighter weight fabrics as well. I apologise for not having the exact "measurement" of the thickness. When I bought it, the store didn't have this info. I think it can be used on tshirts but when working with knit fabrics, I would use a jersey or ballpoint hand-sewing needle. Hope this is helpful.
