Can this be done on thick canvas strips directly? Or will the canvas have to be prepped?

I always pre wash the fabric before dyeing because their may be commercial coatings that would prevent successful absorption of the dyes. Depending on the dye you use, there maybe different pre treatment procedures to use. Also, it’s important to know the fabric content to make sure it will work with your dye. Some canvasses are a blend of natural and synthetic fibers

Hi Geri, I just came across your video and I love it. I have been wanting to make some Boho Maxi dresses from cotton sheets and I have been reviewing different types of tie dye. This method seems better for me (I am 75). I see you are using Rit dye. Is this your go-to dye. I want to make my dresses very simple. I am definitely not a seamstress. I would like them bright colors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Keep your enthusiasm🥰😍
