This technique is so much fun. I used French silk paint on shaving cream to marble a silk tie. Fantastic looking shoes, Angie, thanks for sharing.

Yes add stars
I was leery about these would turn out, not a big fan of shaving creme dyeing, but these turned out super cool! I was surprised the inside didn't get dyed. I'm a vote for adding the stars, although they look great as is. You did a great job NOT getting any dye on the soles. Pays off going to thrift stores. I'm going to sour some when I really decide to dye. Thanks, Angie, great video, it did look fun and easy.

Very very cool Angie I really love these my white shoes I’ve been working on for over a year now and it’s just the splatter from my sloppy dying I just did shaving cream socks about a week ago lotta fun enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend😁✌️

I love em! Yes to the stars. That's next level stuff. I've been wanting to do this too but also too chicken. I like the idea of leaving them in the dye.

You should do with a shirt. So you could have matching socks, shoes and shirt.

That look is awesome. I had thought of the flicking of white just as you were saying it. I think they look great as is, although I probably would add the stars look to them since they did turn out to be looking a lot like a nebula or something.

That's too funny! It's one of my favorites.
Would some bleach or acetone/rubbing alcohol help get rid of the dye on the sole? Otherwise you might have to get some masking tape if you were to do this again.
@FunEndeavors

It might - I haven't tried anything other than the magic eraser. I'll have to give those a try though.
I'm all for the white paint splatter to look like stars think it'll look great

Those are awesome! Did you take the inside cushion out of the shoes before dyeing??? I l9ve those. I have yet to try the shaving cream but after seeing this, I may just have to!!!
@FunEndeavors

Thank you! No, I left the insole inside the shoes. I think a little air bubble must've formed though and the dye didn't get into the inside of the shoes.
I love the way they are, no white please. 😄

Could you do the same method with a t-shirt? Would you have to do one side at a time? I love how the shoes turned out ❤️

Probably. I think you would have to do one side and then flip it.

Those shoes are pretty and fun! I do like the idea of adding stars on them. Not sure if I missed some info by looking rather than listening, but can you explain why the paint didn’t adhere to the white rim around the top of the shoes and the areas where maybe elastics is on either side of the tongue? I think that makes them look even better than if everything got saturated with the colors.
@FunEndeavors
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I think it probably has to do with what the fabric is made of in those areas. The dye won't adhere to elastic for sure.

@@FunEndeavors makes sense. Thank you for answering.
Love the shoes! I’m like you…..scared to spend the money on shoes and have it turn out ugly. Now I have courage after watching this. I wouldn’t add the “stars” to this pair. They are great just the way they are. When you do socks, do you leave them in the shaving cream for 24 hours also?

Thank you so much! I was intimidated too, but I'm glad I went for it. That's one reason why I went and bought an inexpensive pair of canvas shoes from Walmart to practice on. I didn't leave the socks in the shaving cream. I took them out of the shaving cream and put them in one of my containers that has a rack in the bottom to process. I'll post that video this week some time. The socks turned out looking really cool too.

Can I do this with cloth paint? And rainbow?
@FunEndeavors

I've never tried using shaving cream with cloth paint. I think a rainbow would work though.
How do the shoes hold up, colorwise, after awhile?
@FunEndeavors
Жыл бұрын
I'm not quite sure. I just made them this week, so I haven't had them for long. They've been washed in hot water though, so I suspect they will wear really well.
I think maybe you should try this neat technique again, but maybe don’t tape up the soles. If that teeny bit of dye got under the tape, and you couldn’t get it off, maybe you’ll like the results if you just dye the white rubber too! As you’ve learned, it’ll stay on, even after scrubbing. It could look really beautiful!!!
@FunEndeavors
Жыл бұрын
That might be something fun to try.

I brush a thin layer of Vaseline on the soles before dyeing and it’s so much easier (and more reliable!) than the tape method! You *do* have to have a steady hand, because anywhere it touches will block the dye, but it keeps my soles PRISTINE through the dye process Edited to add: depending on what dye method I’m using, I either put two pieces of duct tape (folded over on itself) on the bottoms of the shoes, or take a needle and thread through the stitching on the inside of the tongue/heel of the shoes to use as ‘handles’, so I can pick them up without touching the Vaseline.
I did some hats and they came out of the batching tote with a thick layer of yuck. Will definitely thin shaving cream next time
@FunEndeavors
Жыл бұрын
Yes, that happens. It should've washed off though. The first batch of socks I made I didn't thin the shaving cream and they came out the same way.
Not white paint - Glow-in-the-dark paint!
