Stitch Panoramas in Photoshop Like a Professional

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I’m looking at how to stitch panoramas using Adobe Photoshop. I’ve also created a second version of the video showing how to stitch panoramas in Affinity Photo. If you want to see that video, here’s the link: • Stitch Panoramas in Af...
The video shows two images I captured using a wide-angle lens and a standard tripod. The first part of the video demonstrates how I process these frames in Capture One before exporting them. Following this, the images are stitched into a single panorama using Adobe Photoshop. I’ll also demonstrate using the Content Aware Fill tool in Photoshop to create missing parts of the panorama.

I've been trying out the Panorama function of my camera but not quite happy with its low res output. I want to make use of the full res images to stitch together. Thanks to watching your videos I now know a couple of ways to achieve that. Cheers from 🇨🇦

Thank you. You probably already know, but if you shoot RAW with Fuji or Sony you can use the free version of Capture One. It's very effective and has a many of the tools you find in the pro version.

@@RobinWhalley No, I didn't know that! My main camera is a Nikon D850, but I occasionally pull out my Fuji XE1 for street work. I'll look into that - thank you very much!

Absolutely, "Essential Affinity Photo". You can buy it on Amazon, Google Play, Apple, or lenscraft.co.uk/learn-photo-editing-books/ You might recognise the author.

Hi Robin, I have re watched as I do not see much information regarding wide angle lens use for panoramas. Do you have information about this yourself? As an aside I am looking forward to seeing how (future) C1 handles panoramas. Cheers, Nick

I don't include much for two reasons. First, I try to keep the videos short and not cover too much information. If I try to cover lots of areas they become too long and confusing. Secondly, I don't really treat shooting wide angles any differently to other panos. I shoot most of them handheld but where I do use a tripod, I don't use a pano head. Now if you are shooting with a wide angle this only works where there is a reasonable distance between you and any foreground object. If you have something looming large in the foreground I would recommend using a panoramic head if possible to reduce parallax error.

Robin Whalley Be nice if you get a chance. I typically start in DxO and go to PS. DxO doesn’t do panos, as you know, and the AI functions coming out in many of the software editors is starting to show some promise. Because of that I’ve kept up with upgrades with software I don’t use much. I’d also be interested to get your take on where you see software going since you comment on a wide variety of software. At present, I’m a bit conflicted as I generally like to be in control of crafting my images, especially if it is one I want to print large. On the other hand I’m happy to use tools that make my efforts more efficient as long as I can direct the direction the software is going. I wonder if I’m the only one with similar sentiments?

@@donniebel I think a lot of people share your thoughts. Personally I'm not a fan of AI when it's used to create an effect. I like to be in control of my image and move it in the direction of my vision. Some of the other uses for AI are quite promissing though it's still early days.
