    Their pro level saws are incredible. The old stuff is all designed and made in Germany and it is obvious when you start getting into them. The designs and choices they made back then were all about providing the best product money could buy. They still make decent stuff, but it doesn't have the same quality feel as the older Zero series, and the newer "greener" engines aren't the same. I don't care about fuel economy and how much cleaner it is. I want a nasty ass big power saw that will drive a 40" bar through rock maple and oak trees and get me home and hour earlier. The newer stuff is like Stihl Light....lol...still leaps and bounds better than the other offerings. If you haven't tried a pro level Stihl machine, you really need to.

    That was pretty awesome! Novel, but awesome!! Just a nerdy FYI, gas powered chainsaws vibrate on purpose to add a little bite the cutting action, there's a long winded explanation but the bottom line is "Vibration" is a "Good Thing" when it comes to chainsaws :-) Even some electric chainsaws have an eccentric weight ("Vibrator") added to the output shaft to help the chain teeth bite into the wood.

  • @SalisburySnake

    @SalisburySnake

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@quadsman11 I'm a bit skeptical myself. But I have heard a story about single cylinder hillclimb motorcycles beating out their 4 cylinder competitors. The reason why was not revealed until they used a high speed camera. The pulsating of the rear wheel helps it regain traction rather than continue to spin. Regardless, electric is most likely the future of chainsawing, even for pros. It should be possible to build a motor with pulsating power delivery without just adding a vibrating weight to the shaft, if that is found to be necessary.

    Runs about like the cheap entry level saws that Stihl unfortunately has to sell. Kid you not, I walked into a family run large hardware chain that features a large Stihl equipment display, asked for the $350 and up range saws to buy right now. They told me I couldn't have one until they started it up in front of me. 15 minutes and 2 saws later, neither worked, and I quietly told them I had to be going now.

    When Stihl first came out they were made in Germany. The correct pronunciation is "sh-till" and changed to "Steel" as a marketing ploy when the manufacturing shifted to USA. As a side note it translates to "Quiet" in English, hardly appropriate! One impressive thing about Stihl is they only work with dealers Walmart and Costco need not apply!

    Interesting power saw. Chrysler experimented with turbine powered cars in the 1960's? Scrapped most of them; to expensive to make the engines. Also, people complained that it took too long to move off the line once the light turned green. It took several seconds to get going. The people behind them would honk their horns at them.

    It doesn't matter if it has the torque, it " out Cools" all others. Stihls are just plain hard to beat.

    stihl’s are hard to start, hard to keep running, and even harder to get rid of. Husqvarna if you want to “git er done”

    This is nuts JB. STIHL's a great product but this is like Tim the toolman. 🤓 I wonder if the blade needs sharpening more often? This was interesting. Thanks. Take care and fly safe. 🤟🏼🖖🏼
