@@jakedavila4468 absolutely. jimi took the standard blues and made it more experimental but when it comes to proficiency and a wide array of style mixed with his insane knowledge of scales and improv stevie was miles ahead of jimi in skill. just look at billy strings now. hes bluegrass but i can hear a ton of srv licks in his improv. went to hs with a kid who thought he was srv. he was good but you can just pick out the phrasing and if its not perfect you can tell. yes i didnt feel like using capitol letters... sorry

First of all....Stevie was an absolute monster! He would have made the devil cry at the crossroads and just about anyone else for that matter. I just watched Jimi live in '69 and to be honest ( and I love Jimi ) it wasn't even in the same league for guitar playing. Yes, I know Jimi wrote it and all of the usual " Jimi was the original and Stevie copied him" " Jimi changed guitar" I agree with a lot of that BUT Stevie was cleaner, faster, harder and just a better player. Now all of this is of course just my opinion and like the saying goes "opinions are like assh*les....everyone has got one!" R.I.P Jimi, Stevie, Prince ( another shredder) Bowie, Petty and all of the rest. Thanks for all of the music boys!!!!!!

The Stockholm '69 show (I assume you mean that show) is just about the worst Hendrix recording available. All the others get taken down yet that one stays up. Hendrix was burnt out, pissed, and Noel Redding was deliberately playing obtuse and loud to fuck him over because they were at each other's throats at the time. If you want a true gauge of Hendrix in his prime, you have to go to Band of Gypsies at the Fillmore East (some footage exists, maybe not on KZread), Atlanta Pop 1970, Berkeley, Newport 69, Woodstock (though his band is not very tight). The Stockholm show gives such a terrible impression of Jimi. Once you see the footage of Jimi performing Machine Gun at the Fillmore Eat you will understand why people rate him so highly.
