I saw him at the Mann Music Center in Philly in '86. Added bonus: the Fabulous Thunderbirds opened for him and got to see him play with his brother. Four years later, I was standing in line at the bookstore at Temple University when the cashier's radio delivered the news that he'd been killed the night before in a helicopter crash. It was a genuine gut punch that shifted the world. One less genius who made things just a little bit better.
In this song SRV: Switched guitars when the 1st one was out of tune, dropped his guitar pick, recalibrated his amps for his 2nd guitar, played behind his back for more than half the song, and knocked a tooth out when playing with his mouth. You can see him say: "I lost a tooth" & "It's gone" Despite all the problems he encountered if you listen without watching you'd never know all the adversity he fought through to bring us his single greatest live performance ever!

No, he switched to the white guitar, because it is the one he uses when playing the song he wrote & dedicated to his friend Charley Wirz. He also named the guitar after him, 'Charley'. Watch any video where he plays the song, & you'll see him using that guitar.

The Strat Stevie is playing was built by Charley Wirz at Charley's Guitar Shop down on Harry Hines in Dallas Texas. Charlie lived a long fulfilling life but died unexpectedly from a heart attack in California at a trade show. There are many notable people that passed through or had work done at Charley's, Eric Clapton being one of many You can hear Stevie crying through the guitar notes as he plays. Most soulful song I've ever heard

My favorite SRV song ❤ RIP to the Greatest of ALL Time!
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 He was speaking about the apartheid that took place in South Africa during the 80's. Regardless, his message of love, peace and harmony still apply today. Stevie was a humble soul and a gift from the heavens.

Perhaps it may make you feel that way and that is what is great about music. However, Stevie wrote this for Charley Wirz a dear friend and mentor of his that had passed away.

@@reflected4644 Very true that he wrote the song for Charley Wirz. These people here are talking about the subject of his speech within the song.
No matter how many times I hear this song it always bring tears,RIP Stevie Ray,the greatest guitarist
And to think, he played a guitar string as high as .017. That’s why no one to this day can replicate his sound!
It's crazy to think a guy that lived a few miles from me could grow up to be the best ever on the guitar! I met him once at the mall. He's buried two miles from me. SRV was so incredible!!! RIP!!! Such a beautiful song! I l love to see you sharing this with your daughter!
That's My Boy Stevie Ray actually worked a couple shows with him as the stage hand the one you're watching right now was from the Capital Theater in Passaic I was standing off to the side of the stage decide that he is on I'll never forget that even got to talk to him for a little while he is the G.O.A.T
Stevie Ray Vaughan is GOD
Behind the back,with his teeth and one handed. G O A T

Thank you for reacting to Stevie Ray. He truly is smiling down on all the love #RIPSRV
Daughter...mind...blown!
Anyone who lost a friend this will getcha every time.
The guitar 🎸 GOD
Did you notice he broke a string and switched out his guitar in less then a minute and never missed a beat? . He was playin' the guitar with 1 hand. My Stevie Ray ❤️ .
Great dad.
Stevie ray legend that's his new name
Cute dynamic here. Good job.
The G.O.A.T thanks for showing that awesome video 👍
Pretty sure your daughter was playing the guitar the whole time!!! Keep shining ✌️ 😊
Been seeng a lot of srv reaction vids pop up and i am glad that people are discovering him.. my pops got me into him in the early 90s when I was like 10..
I watched prob 75 reactions to this song, and while,so many are great , I really, really love u guys’.....the girl is so thoughtful, the most thoughtful I’ve seen, the way she just had SUV’s undivided attention, amd the thought in her eyes ....the the guy (the dad, I think), he was just so enthusiastic and stoked....great stuff....I’ve seen people all over the planet react to this, and it never ceases to bring its universal message of love...it’s very touching to see people, dig it...much love and light to the both of u, and I’m now subscribed:):):)....u made me smile
I do like me some Stevie😋😋
SRV Was Always Amazing Even Before He Got Clean From The
Aaahhhhh!!! Y’all made me heart happy tonight. I subscribed to your channel on your last SRV reaction and was so glad to see you react to him again. This is one of my favorite performances by him. He is my absolute favorite!!!!
Greatness has no words just amazing!👍❤️
A heart breaking song. The studio version is beautiful.
This video of SRV is my favorite video of him if not my favorite of all videos on KZread. Thanks for reacting to it. Enjoyed watching!
I'm always amazed how many people never notice he broke a string and did a guitar swap.
I first heard Stevie in the 1993, was listening to deep purple etc, back then ,but with Stevie is guitar playing just gave a different feeling, like I said before the greatest guitar player ever
This is the 2nd time i've enjoyed watching your reactions to SRV - I never get tired of hearing his deeply-connected sound and seeing others be touched by his music. Two times won my subscription - Thanks.
Just watched your video.. thanks bro .. always love hearing SRV .. but your girl is either messed up or needs serious sleep. Not gonna guess but by her reaction .. I know .. ✌❤
Love watching your reactions you guys are awesome he lost a tooth in this performance if you watch closely you see it fly out
Well said SRV ,God playing through his hands , taken far to young RIP SRV
Got better and better and never stopped
How fortunate do you think I feel to have lived during Jimi Hendrix AND Stevie Ray Vaughn at their prime. I was alive in "Guitar Heaven"!!! As Steve Crowder would say, "change my mind"
Great reaction. I have many fond memories of listening to music with my dad (who is a huge SRV fan). It is great to see young people being brought up with exposure to amazing music from prior periods. I am not as down on the younger generation as some people you see on KZread, there is some incredible new talent out there but it is always good when that is rooted in an awareness of what has come before!
I was at this show in Passaic
Martin Luther King Jr. and Stevie here said it right.
His voice is really, really, good. His playing is really, really, good. The lyrics are really, really, good. Well then I guess it's all really, really, good. But seriously, here he has a softer, more ballad like voice than a blue voice.
A awesome reaction video, it's cool to see a Dad and Daughter do one together.
Loved y'alls reaction, SRV is the goat, Life by the Drop and Texas Flood are very good, wish you and yours a very merry Christmas
RIP SRV a humble soul taken far ,far to young
You have a pretty smile girl you should do it more😊
Made me cry in my soul
See how her dad doesn’t interrupt her regardless of her take. Great modelling here-some autonomy, and making her responsible for a thought out reaction.
❤❤

He may have been the second coming... And we just missed it.
SRV can play behind his back and behind his head. I've seen him play his guitar with one of his rings. I've also seen him and his brother play the same guitar at the same time!
He lost a tooth, the song was about Charlie Wurtz who passed away he switched guitars, Charlie built the white strat for him
RUN IT BACK THAT LAST PLAYIN WITH TEETH HE LOOKS OVER OFFSTAGE SAYS HE LOST A TOOTH WILD
Yep. SRV is exceptional..lol.
That s what Stevie said he just played and played
Playing behind the back isn't super impressive, but his super clean transitions from front to back and the fact that he can do it for so long without cramping up IS super impressive.

It is pretty impressive to play as well as he does behind his back tho
@darinparker3399
2 жыл бұрын
Well obviously you’ve never done it. The problems you encounter with it being behind your back, like the awkward position. No way to look at your picking hand, the small amount of room you have to use your picking hand without it hitting your back, etc.
@lasagnasux4934
2 жыл бұрын
@@darinparker3399 so either you are a beginner or you've never actually done this yourself. It's the pushing you do with your rear shoulder muscle to give you the space to pick that can cause it to do the cramping I described. Also, if you're looking at your picking hand while playing, you need to get better. At least look at your fret board. You shouldn't have hardly any reason to look at your picking hand, whether you're strumming or sweeping.
He left way too early! RIP SRV
I don't think a lot of young people nowadays know they used to play instruments.
Voodoo Child should be your next SRV vid
i always wonder if he found his tooth,,
He lost a tooth when he played with them. You can see him looking for it. You can also read his lips he says tooth, it's gone.
Did you miss the Guitar change?
Meshuggah obzen 🇸🇪 🇸🇪🇸🇪🤘🤘🤘
If you noticed at then he mouthed something and it was lost tooth gone.
He didnt fool about around
Why oh why does everyone miss the guitar change 2 minutes 11seconds on 🤷♀️ 🤦♀️
He doesn't play with his teeth!!;;just an illusion
You just witnessed stevie lose his front tooth . That is what he is saying after he plays with his teeth.
You're a beautiful couple, a dad and his young daughter, I liked your reactions! But, Steve Ray Vaughan, even, if he was, a really, fantastic special guitarist, he was FAN LIKE ALL THE GUITARISTS, OF JIMI HENDRIX ! THE GOD OF GODS OF THE GUITARISTS WORLD! IT'S JIMI HENDRIX WHO PLAYED WITH THEIR TEETH FIRST, IN HIS BACK, BETWEEN THEIR LEGS, HE BURNED HIS GUITAR! JIMI WAS THE GREATEST, NOT BECAUSE, OF ALL THOSE IMPRESSIVE CLOWN THINGS BUT, BECAUSE, HE WAS THE BETTER WITH A 6 STRINGS! THAT'S ALL! AND, NOBODY ON EARTH WILL EVER, BE ABLE TO SAY, IT'S NOT TRUE! SO LOOK AT JIMI HENDRIX, PLEASE ! LIVE AT WOODSTOCK! OR BAND OF GYPSIES LIVE! YOU WILL DIE! KISSES FROM FRANCE 😂👍🤗❤️🌹🇫🇷✌️
Can you please react to the Crash Test Dummies song called The ballad of Peter Pumpkin head Please
He actually broke a tooth you'll see when he does it he even looks over at the side of the stage to let us know that he broke a tooth LOL
Please React to Meshuggah Obzen 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🤘🤘🤘🤘
Them be 13 gauge strings
Just so she knows Stevie or anybody else doesn't play 🎸 with their teeth. Just fingers and an amplifier
Nod.
changewd guitarer withoout bloosimg a tone !!!!
He switched guitars for gods sake!!
Young b daughter if you play you can play just as good or better than him with practice
Lol, I guess everybody knows something

OK, she can go back to sleep now.
I heard when he plays with his feet, he really stinks
