    I saw him at the Mann Music Center in Philly in '86. Added bonus: the Fabulous Thunderbirds opened for him and got to see him play with his brother. Four years later, I was standing in line at the bookstore at Temple University when the cashier's radio delivered the news that he'd been killed the night before in a helicopter crash. It was a genuine gut punch that shifted the world. One less genius who made things just a little bit better.

    In this song SRV: Switched guitars when the 1st one was out of tune, dropped his guitar pick, recalibrated his amps for his 2nd guitar, played behind his back for more than half the song, and knocked a tooth out when playing with his mouth. You can see him say: "I lost a tooth" & "It's gone" Despite all the problems he encountered if you listen without watching you'd never know all the adversity he fought through to bring us his single greatest live performance ever!

    No, he switched to the white guitar, because it is the one he uses when playing the song he wrote & dedicated to his friend Charley Wirz. He also named the guitar after him, 'Charley'. Watch any video where he plays the song, & you'll see him using that guitar.

    The Strat Stevie is playing was built by Charley Wirz at Charley's Guitar Shop down on Harry Hines in Dallas Texas. Charlie lived a long fulfilling life but died unexpectedly from a heart attack in California at a trade show. There are many notable people that passed through or had work done at Charley's, Eric Clapton being one of many You can hear Stevie crying through the guitar notes as he plays. Most soulful song I've ever heard

It is great to see young people being brought up with exposure to amazing music from prior periods. I am not as down on the younger generation as some people you see on KZread, there is some incredible new talent out there but it is always good when that is rooted in an awareness of what has come before!

    Well obviously you’ve never done it. The problems you encounter with it being behind your back, like the awkward position. No way to look at your picking hand, the small amount of room you have to use your picking hand without it hitting your back, etc.

    @lasagnasux4934

    @@darinparker3399 so either you are a beginner or you've never actually done this yourself. It's the pushing you do with your rear shoulder muscle to give you the space to pick that can cause it to do the cramping I described. Also, if you're looking at your picking hand while playing, you need to get better. At least look at your fret board. You shouldn't have hardly any reason to look at your picking hand, whether you're strumming or sweeping.
