Mm, I remember when I was just entering high school my dad gave me a collection of music (basically an assortment of country, rock, jazz and classical orchestra) he had laying around the place. The one that always stood out to me was Stevie. When I first heard his music, it was like I'd been struck by lightning. In the fifteen years since then (not necessarily wiser, but maybe a touch more eloquent), I've yet to hear an ARTIST who could move in the same manner. It was almost like a revelation. He put into his performances this purity and intensity of emotion and soul that I have a difficult time finding anywhere else. If there's one thing I could ever ask for in my life, it would be to see and hear that same feeling in the next generation.

Here's a trick in finding chords you don't know - find out the lowest note, then bar that fret as an F, moving up slowly. As you go, what's missing/what's causing the dissonance falls into place. Some chords will have crazy names for no reason other than those are the frets you pluck on the tab. Or Google it :P

This was one of Stevie's idols for obvious reasons. He was letting his idol shine.
Haha, when Albert's face lights up when the pride and joy shuffle kicks in. awesome
You know it’s good when the guys in the control room are grooving it out during the song.
We miss you, Stevie...Died WAYYYYY too young...Mankind was ROBBED of your incredible TALENT! I can only IMAGINE what INCREDIBLE music you would have brought us for the next 40 or 50 years! LOVE YOU, STEVIE!
Stevie is just absorbing the game that's being given to him. Genius.
I'm guessing that King hasn't heard this song much from the intro, yet he still sounds amazing jamming with SRV here. That's the mark of a true guitar god.
Wow 40 years ago ! There's not much around like this anymore . How lucky we were and are to have been left with recordings such as this . ❤
amen brother
That Bass line is absolutely amazing.

rhythm section on point!!
Anytime I see SRV, there’s always a sense of sadness because he had so few years left. What a loss indeed 😢
BB just loving it
Stevie Ray, and both "The Kings" kicking ass and taking names in the clouds God Bless them all...I miss good blues
AAAHHHH!!!! Albert King! Now THAT'S the Blues. You can feel the Blues pulsating all throughout that man. It is tangible and its scope is eternal. What a legend.
possibly the best one two punch in all of blues???

Can’t possibly love these guys more. The voice, the skill, the artistry.......beyond amazing.

Here's a trick in finding chords you don't know - find out the lowest note, then bar that fret as an F, moving up slowly. As you go, what's missing/what's causing the dissonance falls into place. Some chords will have crazy names for no reason other than those are the frets you pluck on the tab. Or Google it :P

i totally agree! another thing i did that helped me a lot, was i learned chords, scale progressions and self taught with books on music theory. its awesome to learn then put it all together playing along you find it pretty easy.

To play the blues you need to feel the blues.....l felt it when l was 20
I love the smile on Alberts face as they start...
they play fast and they dont concentrate on no soul. That is going to be one of the best quotes. ONE of the best jam sessions i've heard so far.
I've watched the whole thing 3 times and amazing is an understatement for this session...
The mentor and the prodigy
I think my love for Dimebag metal-brand music has been bumped down for once...oh how I missed this music..
seeing these two blues titans together just gives me the chills
meus dois bluesman favoritos! nunca os esquecerei . r.i.p
this is the best video on the whole fucking internet!!!!!!!
SRV and Albert King - Pride And Joy In session - 1983
Great gawd I’m glad they did this and recorded it. Absolute masterpiece.
you can tell that they're old friends. because they compliment each other. some people say other musicians steal from other musicians.. i call it LEARNING ...stevie ray looked up to albert and bb and freddie and muddy. the blues are endless just like everything else in life. those two had a common bond together. the blues. and you can see it. i wish i couldl've seen it live. albert loved muddy waters and anything blues. you will never see anything like this again from anyone because lawyers
That hat is the coolest fucking hat Stevie ever wore. That iconic brim shadow. I wish you were here to day Stevie Ray .....my guitar idol!!
I saw SRV here in Kalamazoo on a friday night, 2 days before he was killed in Wisconsin. Still probably the saddest and most devastated I ever felt about a famous musician dying.
It’s like they’re telling stories with their music!
Great stuff
albert king & stevie ray Vaughan.......awesome....nothing better than the BLUES
Albert's just loving this. "WOOHOO! Pride and Joy!"
I just bought the complete session, and the hole thing is magic from the very start to the end, a none stop pure blues session with probably the best two guitar players in history. amazing
i love that little sound albert makes right in the beginning
Wow!
This is a must add to your DVD or if available Blu Ray Collection!!!! Hot!!!!!!
Its crazy to discover a video. Of SRV and A.King. When all of SRV's music is SO heavily enfluenced by A.King. Watching when they talk you can see SRV is so humbled playing with his greatest idol. And for A.King to say SRV has the soul of the ol' blues. AND the new skill. It blows my mind
the 1 dislike has to be deaf.....and blind.....and watch american idol.
these two make my eyes water
Go Stevie and Albert!❤
bliss. this is what heaven sounds like
I had no idea this existed until last night! They were showing it on PBS! I am going to find a copy ASAP!
who ever is the one dislike, is just a tool. I dont even know what else to say, two of the greatest and someone doesnt like it, tool.
Albert King is feeling that beat!!!
I am so thrilled to have heard this. This is amazing and I'm only upset by how long it has taken me to discover it.
and other people are trying to get paid off of them.who ever put this back on the web I CAN'T SAY THANK YOU ENOUGH. i just love the music they play. THEY ARE AWESOME.and so are the people that keep posting it. THANK YOU
This is what i call an improvisation. Awsome!!
Somebody banging the shit out of the piano midway through this song. Listen for the keys bouncing. It adds so much to the music.
couldn't have said it better myself
it don't come to me that this guys are dead, cause anytime I listing to them they always sound alive..
oh he's tryin' hard to hold back, you can just see him almost foaming at the mouth : ) very well done SRV!
I was one month old during this performance.
As a Hamilton boy. I had NO idea this ever took place. SRV... I remember the day you died. How it came on the radio and the DJ was chocked up, not beleiving he was to tell us what happened that tragic day. I was just discovering you as an influence. You were just some records kicking around that my brother owned. But THANK GOD I put Texas Flood on the turntable to check it out... I can understand,, why Eric Clapton was nervous about going on after you. You are deeply missed SR!
I would have killed to have been in the studio for this
Stevie is THE BEST of BLUES!! THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST!
