The Aquatic Blader lol. A little sad that I got into SU about when "The Question" aired. Bc one day I was watching I think a theory video on it and they said something like... "Because Ruby and Sapphire makeup Garnet" or "Garnet is the fusion of Ruby and Sapphire", I was like "oh cool. I knew the little red one/Ruby looked kinda like Garnet". And so i never really had the satisfaction of watching Jailbreak NOT knowing Garnet was a fusion. (Yes I still watched it though)

Late to the club but yes, he got one detail wrong. Sapphire doesn’t have a gauntlet. Only ruby, as shown in the episode where Steven, Greg, and garnet/ ruby & sapphire, go to the motel, at the diner part (I think) ruby wields a gauntlet (smaller than garnets tho.) sapphire, in the show has never ever used a weapon. In the show, sapphires are sort of servants or workers of higher ranks. Sapphires can see the future, but there is no proof that sapphires wield a weapon. Sapphires often have rubies to guard them, therefore no weapon needed.

Idk why this is getting recommended to me now, but it's nice to see a theory turning out to be true.
I know this has already been solved, but given all this evidence and foreshadowing, it astounds me that there were people who heard it and _still_ weren't convinced Garnet was a fusion.

***** technically, according to Rebecca Sugar, gems are neither male nor female. They are rocks. Rocks are genderless. But so far all the gems we have met, barring Steven, have identified female. Including Ruby.

Wouldn't they be sexless? Gender is something else, like Ian said on Twitter they're a one gender race, they might not have sexual organs (unless they shapeshift one like Amethyst with her digestion track, and rose with her womb) but they do have gender, since they refer to one other as she and her.

Dakota Weaver well fortunately for us we know this one isn't just a theory. I totally gaffed and used the wrong word, MY BAD. DX so TECHNICALLY calling Ruby and Sapphire lesbians isn't COMPLETELY accurate, but because they identify female... Also I don't know if its intentional, but Google Sappho, I remember reading that Sappho was like some hella gay goddess or something like that, and to be "sapphic" means you're a hella gay lady too, I believe.. Going off vague memory here, but that could have something to do with Sapphire being a lesbian? I mean the ....root word is the same and all, idk. Just a thought I've never been able to shake.

I suppose this is an okay theory, but characters named 'Ruby' and 'Sapphire'? How absolutely ridiculous. Next, you'll go telling me that Sapphire can manipulate ice, and Ruby can control fire. This theory is obviously wrong.
