Same bruv i used to change the channel as soon as I saw it starting because i thought it was a cringey kids show... I wish I could kick my past self so bad for doing that. But then one fateful day, I had nothing to watch as all channels were airing shit and I watched a few episodes very reluctantly... I WAS HOOKED AS SOON AS I UNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS GOING ON. God damn. ESPECIALLY AFTER SEEING OCEAN GEM. I was freaking OBSESSED. I still am.

When I first saw the commercials (the silhouette one) I thought Steven was a red head

A year ago my best friend had committed suicide, I met her when I was only 6 and last year I was 14. She loved Steven universe and we always watched it at her house, at school we were constantly bullied and we always reassured eachother we would be okay and we’d manage, but she couldn’t take it anymore. She hung herself and I only got the call a few days after she was in the hospital. She loved this song, and I always listen to it because of her. She couldn’t handle the bullying anymore and was driven to suicide because of it, I remember how happy she was when we watched it together, and now she’s gone. I miss her so much, I moved schools since I didn’t wanna see the people who did this to her. I miss her a lot, her name was Anya, she’d be 14 today.

Thank you for sharing your story, I can imagine it's not easy. My best friend died by suicide too, 2 days before my 15th birthday. I'm 35 now, and every year I get really sad around my birthday. I can relate to your sadness, and your longing for your friend, your understanding that your friend was suffering, and that bittersweet strength in holding onto the beautiful moments together. Your friend deserved kindness, at the very least, respect. You do too. We owe it to each other, as human beings. I'm sending you a big hug! And my sincerest hope that you're staying safe and being kind to yourself. Take care! Ps. Grieving will take a lot of energy, and time. As you move through the pain of grief, know that you are not alone. My family wasn't very supportive, but I was able to reach out to members of the community, and even kind strangers that were patient. It takes patience. There are many people who care about you and your well-being. Something to keep in mind. ("Secret for the Mad" by Dodie kzread.info/dash/bejne/d56DpqylpqyrnLQ.html has advice I'd give 15 year old me. It'll take time. And it won't ever fully go away. But it's a reminder that we lost someone important to us. Even though it hurts, I'm grateful I'll never forget her.)

In 2014 i was diagnosed with mild depression, but it was a very dark time for me. Come to think in that year this series had little time premiering dubbed in Latin America. When it was ending in future, i was 30 already in a much better place and must say, besides changing my ways of dealing with stuff, medicines and all, this show was always a good companion. During this pandemic my Girlfriend and I saw the whole series together and made all this shit of world way more bearable. Thanks, Rebecca and Crewniverse.

This song hits so hard when you realize this song is about Pink Diamond and her memories of the past but she makes new ones with Greg. She regretted the past which is why she always is confused why Greg chose her to be his beloved and she loves him too but the past is weighing her down but now she accepted that she will forever be bad and now the only way to cope with it is to transform into steven to make a new form of herself and as a sign of love between her and greg she wants steven to fix the mistakes she made in the past, she wants him to be “better than her” as what bismuth said but she knows Greg will miss her once shes gone and so she made that song to tell him that she will always be with him as in Steven hence “If I could begin to be half of what you think of me” She transformed into Steven so that Greg can still love her and she can fix the mistakes she has done in the past, by transforming into a completely new person. This song is too perfect for the show and it was already played in episode 1 of Steven Universe so the only way for us to understand the lyrics is to finish the entire series, it truly makes me glad I was born in this generation. This is hands down one of the best songs I’ve heard from childhood shows

I used to enjoy this song cause its so calm since I was kid but now Im 20 and recently lost my mother, Im having a bit of trouble with my memory and trying to understands my own feelings so im revisiting the things I used to enjoy. This song has a completely different meaning to me now, I feel like I've taken my mother for granted and that her love for me and my siblings is something no one else can replace. right now Im realizing how patient and loving she was when I was having my worst moments. All I really wish is that she's happy in heaven as everyone says she is. I wish she knew how much I love and miss her this song means a lot to me, and so does this show. It will always hold a special place in my heart

i remember i started this show when i was 12 bc i had a crush on this girl and she was such a big fan of steven universe. this show made feel so comfortable with my sexuality and own skin, even though the girl rejected me, im so thankful that she was my first girl crush, she didnt look at me w disgust or shame me for it and she introduced this wonderful show to me. we also hung out a lot after i confessed and we became good friends, shes going off to university now and i’m going out of the state in a few weeks.. im so happy i was able to be a flame in her fire, i wish her the best of luck and happiness.. thank you cali

Steven Universe was not a perfect show, but it’s one that deserves to be remembered. It’s characters, themes and plot were all so engaging, and that’s not even mentioning the music. There were some truly exceptional moments of this show that deserve to go down in history for being so excellent. I miss growing up with Steven Universe, but I’m glad it had a part in my life.

I met this guy and he taught me the good sides of living and taught me other things when I was having a hard time. Months later I got a call that he committed suicide and now I smile because that's the thing he loved most about me. I miss you so much ☺️

When i was 13 my eating disorder began and so did my self harm as well as my anxiety getting worse and worse (I’m 14 now btw still struggling with all of this but I’m in recovery). Anyway I started watching this show during these terrible times when I felt like I had no one and it really got me through some terrible times. From suicidal thoughts to severe relapses this show helped me find hope and peace again. I’m sad I finsihed it because even though I can rewatch it nothing is like watching it for the first time. But this show helped accept my gender identity and sexual orientation and accept my intrusive thoughts. I am so grateful for this show and everything it’s done for me.

I didn't watch this when it first came out. I saw it on tiktok and started watching just a week ago. But I swear, I have never felt so.. represented before? I don't even know if it's the right word. I watched this show, and fell in love with these characters, almost like I could feel their pain through my own experiences. I saw characters who made me feel just a little bit less alone. I watched this as fast I could around my schedule or school and theater. Only around 3 hours a day that I had time to watch it. Obviously, since this has been out for so long, I've heard this song before. But piecing together not only the story, but the music at the end of each episode? I only knew these characters and this story for a first time, but after hearing Blue Diamond say "Pink" and then this song start playing fully made me sob. I don't cry at many things, but this show hasn't failed me yet. I'm not even done watching it, I'm about to watch the movie and then SU Future. I'm sure that in a few years, this song will still give me goosebumps and make me sob.

Really glad you chose to watch. :) I sympathized the most with Peridot and Lapis for many varying personal reasons, and it felt really good to see them both collectively grow throughout the series. How'd you end up finding future and the movie? As an aside, as someone who kept up with it since late 2016, I'm sure that will definitely still be the same as it has for me, lol.

In relation to the episode itself, Jones-Quartey commented, "'Change Your Mind; isn't the end of the Steven Universefranchise but, "'Change Your Mind' is the end to this particular story that we started writing back in 2011." Oh and cartoon network also stated theres more to come when someone asked if the series was over.

You've done so many people a favor by editing all this together. The work that went into this--I can't even imagine. There's something just so satisfying about seeing it all put together coherently, aside from it being such an incredible song, unique in its instrumentation, sensible in its melody, and creative in its harmony.

In the original version, it seems like steven is talking about how can he keep up with the legacy of his mother, creating the words "i would even learn how to love LIKE you." The reprise, meanwhile, feels like when steven learned his mother is not all that great (being a diamond and all), and now trying to accept that fact. "I would even learn how to love YOU."

Ok, So Steven Universe Future just ended... Going back to all of the moments we had in the series.. it was great. All of the plot twists, the reveals, the leaks, and everything else was just great. I remember seeing this advertised in 2013, like most people who grew up with the series, talking about a new show called Steven universe. I watched the entire first and second season but stopped watching it after the midpoint of season 3... I got back into Steven Universe When the movie was announced. Then I watched future and now we are here! Thank you Rebecca Sugar for making such an amazing show. I hope we can get something in the future, no pun intended, but it was a good run..... thank you all and I will miss this show.... (Edit: Also jeez these 7 years went by fast!)(Edit 2: wow.. that’s a lot of people... over 1,000 people who liked this.. thanks!) (Edit 3: coming back to this after 2 years... I still miss this show tbh)

I've seen the entire series from gem glow to the future, and it was great. yes i cringed in places i found stupid (such as the cookie cat song(s) don't judge) but even after all that, i still want, no NEED more of it, but i'm still glad it ended where it did. and, yeah. i agree with you, all of the twists and turns made the series unique, and that was good, top tier ending Crewniverse, top tier.

That’s why I think it is Pink (Pink as in the gem, not just the diamond) singing the song to Steven. In the beginning she thinks of him as a separate being, that she’s the mother who did wrong and he has to clean up her mess. Every time I hear this music I remember a time when I was younger and fell in love with an amazing girl. I loved every part of her and she was simply incredible. I remember too sing this music for her and the lazy nights we passed together, but one day everything started to fall apart. Her brother died in a motorcycle crash and I gave all the support possible. Some days later her grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and she needed to be with him almost every time. Passed this days she had a urinary infection and I was with her when this issue came up. I remember the pain in her eyes and her crying. Her mother never liked me but that day she said I couldn't be the best man but I was what she needed. After that moment we had to get apart because of her grandfather and the cancer. It felt so bad and I struggle to let it go away. I passed years trying to deal with this feeling, even when I was with other people the memories didn't get away. Then I met another girl that i fell in love again. I really loved her but I was afraid about losing her too. In the end of the day i lost her because of my fear. After all, what really needed to do was to let it go all the things goes away by itself. Maybe let the things be more simple and learn with them would be the best. I never thought I would say that, but in the end of the day needed to lost her to finally found myself and found happiness. Hear this song now feels good, feels happy because now I really learn how to love, love myself.

It's amazing that you were able to move on, and that had the power to let go. It isn't easy to let go, and especially to move on when you are attached to something, so to have the power to do that not only once, but twice, is amazingly powerful. You did amazingly well with coping, and you are so strong. :3 Good luck with any future ventures on love you have, and I hope you finally find what you are looking for.

Everyone else is posting their stories and thoughts here, so I will too. Damn this song is a throwback. I started watching Steven Universe in 2015, pretty sure my first episode was "Giant Woman" because I vividly remember seeing Opal on the TV. Binge watched the entire series, and the episodes that weren't out, I was excitedly waiting for. For me, it was an introduction into the LGBT+ community, it gave me better ideas about mental health and what relationships with others should be like. It gave me a new appreciation for animators and voice actors. It gave me something new to look forward to when I was in middle school and starting high school. I've never been as passionately into any show, movie, or book, but this show had me in a chokehold. The story, art, music, songs, and characters were everything to me. I loved the art, the animations, and the cosplays that the fandom had generated. Dude, this show SHAPED me. People have critiques about Steven Universe, and a lot of them are valid, but this show has done me and other people too much good to just write it off like I've seen a lot of people do.
