I believe I found out what my gift is.. I cook some damn good chicken.. not just chicken other things as well. I've worked at popeyes now for three an a half years. Before that I believed it was truck driving so at 23 I got my class A, went over the road an I got burned out of it after a year. My dad has always been a trucker and I've been all over the country with him as a younger man and thought that was my gift as well.. turns out listening to Steve I realize now that it was a passion of mine to explore the country as I did with my dad as a child but now I realize my gift is food.. I've recently taken a new adventure into a spots bar/restaurant where my talents for cooking got me in the door with that Popeyes experience and in just 3 dayz of working my new job they're so impressed with my skill for it that the main manager said you're gonna be moving up faster then anyone they've had.. just a short story of how Steve has inspired me to continue to pursue that and see just how far I may go. Thank you Steve

So to be put in a position to make great food for others, maybe thats his calling. To serve others in any way shape or form is a solid path to serve the one true King.

You're young. Don't fall into the trap of needing to have everything together at 30. I read a lot of that type of stuff when I was 19/20 years old. I worked hard in my 20's only to realize at 31 that I spent my energy on the wrong thing. My advise, try everything in your 20's, test things out. Very few people know what to do in their 20's, your 30's will reveal it very quickly for you if tried out a lot. Most people say: 20's is time to launch, 30's is time to build. I found out that is wrong. 20's is time to experiment. 30's is time to launch and build. You'll be more focused than ever when you find your thing at 30 because there is this type of calmness that comes with that age. You'll see everything very, very clear all of a sudden.

Hello Steve I hope one day you can read this. My dream is to have my restaurant one day. I love cooking. I have had soooo many jobs and after a 1 year or 2 at my job I get fired because all I think about when I’m at work is how I’m going to make my dream come true. So my last job I had I just got fired and I’m not looking to find another job I’m making my dream come to reality. Now I started to do food for baby showers and small events. One day when I open my restaurant I am going to invite you Steve to say thank you for inspiring me. You the best and I love you for your encourage. I don’t think I was supposed to get fired on this difficult time that we are right now but only God knows what is best for each of us.

The Gifts that the Holy Spirit Gives are totally different from the Gifts you have inside of you..So, Talents, Skills, & Gifts all fall into different categories...and there are multiple forms of Gifts from GOD. Isn't it better to identify where your gift and your passion intersect. In Steve's case maybe playing golf is not his gift but if he's gifted at making jokes and passionate about golf why not incorparate more jokes about golf into his routine. Another example if your skilled at programming and creating software but your passion is basketball why not try to work in creating software that pertains to basketball? Your gift is your skill, your passion is they area or space where you would like to apply your gift.

Me im passionate about gaming but I don't think its a God given gift but now im really good at it not to be so arrogant. you also have to be confident that you are really good, because it might help you, to be really good.

Not true - Everyone has at least one Gift. 66% of society has a combination of 2 or more Gifts, while the last 3rd has only one, but everyone has a Gift. My heart goes out to everyone in these comments who have not found theirs...Just like the gentleman said, it is given to you while you are in the womb! Have you discovered anything about yourself now that it's been a while? I think some underappreciated gifts are: cheerfulness, the ability to make others quickly feel comfortable in a situation, thoughtfulness, generosity, empathy, the ability (or even just the willingness!) to help fix broken things or rescue people out of bad situations, being good with kids or the elderly, being a good storyteller, being a good listener, and so on. They may not be flashy gifts, but they can make a HUGE impact on others' lives.

What comes naturally to you? I am a great cook since I was 5 years old, I cook very good meals. I live planting, gardening. I love taking care of others and work in the health business. Ask friends casually what ARE they naturally good at. TELL them what you think they are naturally good at. Now tell them that you think you are naturally good at: reading, writing, cooking or whatever you wish....... EVEN if you aren't. Then ask them what they think you are naturally good at. Then you can have an idea of what others think you are good at. See if few of your friends say the same thing and then ask yourself if that is an accurate assertion.

but won't you get better at something if you practice it everyday until it eventually becomes effortless for you? how do you explain people who do music for a living? don't they have to work and study hard to be good at what they do? no one can immediately identify notes when they were born.

People can immediately identify notes from when they were born if they have perfect pitch. That is a natural gift. Also, if you are musical from a young age (or when you practice anything from a young age), oftentimes the child does not even realize that they are honing a professional skill. By the time they are mature enough to even make that connection, you could make the arguement that now playing is nearly effortless for them. That's why it's extremely rare to see a virtuoso level musician who started late in life.
