apparently steve WAS just a recurring background character until toh got shortened. there was gonna be a different side character, but since they didn't have much time, and seeing how much people liked steve, they just made it steve. that's literally the only reason (as far as i'm aware of) that was the only good thing that came out from disney shortening the owl house.

he gonna die, he's liked by fans but still just a supporting character with no real overall story relevance. itll be a quick and easy way to raise the stories stakes and make a huge impact on the audience and characters and make them develop and make the final fight more dramatic. if he dont die im gonna be real confuzulled

@@azr3ii Actually The Collector plot was created after season 2 got shortened. So that also came from the shortening

fun fact the reason steve broke down crying seeing the two gay old women is specifically a callout to Disney. Steve is voiced by Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls, who in one episode wanted to put an old lesbian couple in his show, but disney shot it down.

He was voiced by Alex Hirsch. As of Season 2, he's voiced by Matt Chapman. Matt's voice is a lot more gruff and biker-ish, because he is a biker, while Alex's voice is distinctly his "background extra" voice. Coincides with Steve's increase in importance beyond being a fan favorite.

This is stupid to say, but that's thank to Disney for cutting The Owl House, the crew couldn't put a needed character so they used Steve to fill that new character due to seeing the love people had for him.

Well, MLP kinda did the same thing during its run in some occasions. So this is not new to me.

I literally jokingly said Steve was my favorite character back in season 1 because I couldn't choose a favorite.... Season 2 made me realize they were making him an actual character and my joke shilling is now true.

As soon as I saw this guy’s face reveal, I just knew that the entire fandom was going to immediately love Steve. That’s not a bad thing, I’m part of it

Steve was famous enough in the Emperor`s coven to: -Be know by name and face to Lilith (from when she was a head-witch) and Hunter (The Golden Guard; A.K.A. Emperor`s Right Hand Man) -Be close enough to Lilith to be invited to her Birthday Party -Be in such good terms with the other scouts that they can just let him run scot free after rejecting Belos Steve might be the one that saves them all.

I'm pretty sure it's also a Gravity Falls reference; Steve was voiced by Alex Hirsch in Season 1, before Matt Chapman took over in Season 2. In the episode "The Love God" in Gravity Falls, he intended to have a scene with an elderly lesbian couple, but Disney shot it down. I'm pretty sure this is a reference to that.

They probably had planned for it seeing the degree of depth and development he had in such a short amount of time. We probably would have gotten a lot more episodes about him if the show wasn't cut short.

i really appreciate how steve had a sort of continuty. steve questioning his place in the coven wasn't a one-off joke, he ended up following through. stan steve for clear skin.

Love the tiny details they work in like how when King scratches the back of his head it actually makes a scraping sound instead of ruffling or how his horns break through the top of the helmet (speaking of, good job Steve for remembering safety first :))

Half titan, maybe. Seeing as he’s a witch and can do magic I don’t think he’s a full titan.

What I love so much about steve is the implication that despite what we ever see him do, he has to be a badass. Remember, only top tier witches get into the emperors coven, but even so, steve never let it get over his head. He remains chill wherever he is and always has a positive outlook. When he decides he is unsatisfied with his life, he decides to do something about it. I imagine it can't be that easy to just quit a job at the coven. Steve doesn't ever stop hoping, and he can find himself in any situation he is. No matter where he is, he is always steve.Which is why having his named on his shirt like that is amazing, as well as why he was the perfect person for king in his situation. King went through several identity crises and right after receiving the possibly biggest revelation about himself yet, some people view him differently, he isn't even sure what to think about himself, who is he? Well, just like Steve will always be Steve, King will always be King no matter what. Be like Steve.

He's so real, he gets that unlike him, those kids know exactly what's about to happen to them and doesn't blame them for being upset about it even though he can't really do anything about it. One of my favorite aspects of Steve is that while all the technology in the Boiling Isles is mostly magical 18th century technology he just *has* a motorcycle

I love how at the end who he was like no you're not stealing my girlfriend when Steve said I can recommend a good therapist he was like no this is my baby you ain't taking her away from me

Thats crazy character development for a side character, i mean steve ended doing all this crazy bs just to get his dream job only to realize that it sucks, starts ditching work, wears only half his uniform and decides just to relax while hanging out with king. Then after that he finally admits to king that he doesn't need the coven anymore, just happy to be himself, and wants to move on to a different path. Then proceeds to take off his mask the final piece that’s tying him to the coven.
