This is a very precise description on how this is to be done. However, if you cleaned and restrung the bass first, you wouldn't have had to do double work. I always start with new strings. I also noticed that the string height at the first fret is way high. I look for .020 at the first fret. Music Man calls for relief at the 7th to be at .012. Finally setting the string height at the 12th Music Man calls for 5/64ths of an inch of string height. If you set all the strings one at a time to 5/64ths you'll have matched the radius. No need for that silly (I own them too) radius gauge. Otherwise great video. I'll be doing a set up on my RAY 4 on my channel soon as the lack of humidity has screwed up all my guitars this winter. Cheers!

Hey bro sorry to bother you, thanks for the guide it's very good. I'm having an issue when I'm trying to lower the action that my strings are pretty high still but A D G strings buzz against the 15-17 frets. I tried giving it more relief to see if it'll do anything but the neck doesn't budge. Anyway my main concern is could my neck be raising up where it meets the body?? This is the first time I've had this issue on a guitar, on some forums they call it the ski jump phenomenon. Do you have any experience with this? My jazz bass was super easy to setup compared to this stingray ray4 sub. Also my pickup won't raise, I unscrewed all the screws and got it loose but it seems there's nothing pushing it up and it just drops back down to the previous lowest position when I put the screws in. Sorry for the messy paragraphs I've been messing with this for 8 hours now I'm losing itttt.

Hi there - I'm sorry for the late reply. First of all, I would check the frets, to see if you have a couple of high frets, that could potential do the same. It's not that often that the neck will act like that, as you mention you've read on the forum. You may need to add some new foam to the pickup cavity, the old foam may be too spongy, if that makes sense. I hope this helps. Cheers.

This was a long time ago i know so you might not remember but i can move the bridge further away like you had to when it was too sharp but when i twist the screwdriver the other way it doesnt move but just loosen the screw do you know how to move the saddle closer rather than further. Twisting the screwdriver just loosens the screw doesnt move the saddle

Hey there, Harry :-) Thanks for your comment - I appreciate it. The problem might be, if the string(s) are at pitch, that they are applying too much pressure on the saddles, not allowing them to move... That might be the problem. Try tuning the string down, then try the saddle again and see what happens. I hope this helps. If not, then please let me know. Cheers and have a great weekend.

@@GuitarNTabs When you restring, typically, you measure two posts past the one you're stringing and cut there to prevent excessive wraps, no?

@@Andyanddiana467 - Can't remember what I did here, but usually I measure 1.5 or 2 posts past. I have about 2-2½ wraps in the video, I can see, and that's fine. Of course too many wraps will be no good. I hope this helps.
