Levels. That’s elite once in a generation fighter vs a workman who has done well for his era. Didn’t expect him to maul him so easily but to get him out of there so easily is a credit to the man and his relentless attitude and instinct for the KO 💥🥊

On a world level he did win a title but he beat a broken down groves and froze against a smaller canelo and then got blitzed against an elite level beterbiev so I describe him as hardworking to give him credit and not discredit what has been a good career for a hardworking fighter.

Callum Smith has been an outstanding boxer/champion over the years. But it has to be said Betertbiev was on another level & controlled the fight from start to finish.

The Smiths have been good for British Boxing no matter what. Stephen seems a smart well spoken lad and i hope his coaching career goes well and his fighters shine through. I hope they all stay around in one way or another coz Boxing needs good Boxing people in the game.

At the end of the day alot of people thought beterbiev was just a wrecking ball without knowing he has a 290+ wins as an amateur. The IQ has always been there we've just not seen it as much.

I'm not sure Callum had the quality to beat Beterbiev any way. But this plan of "standing ground" and "backing him up" was a really bad idea. At 80 kg noone has enough power to make that plan work - only 90 or even 100 kg guys have a chance of making this work. With light heavyweights it's just going to lead to mid range trading where everything we know about Beterbiev shows this is a type of exchange that he wins - takes one or two, but gives out more. Usyk beat him (twice) in the amateurs using his trademark exceptional mobility combined with well-judged counterattacks. So that strategy can work. Unfortunately only a tiny number of boxers have the athletic ability to pull that off.

Beterbiev is a phenomenon almost 39 years of age and this was his best win and performance. Beterbiev looked like he may be declining in the yarde fight or maybe he was just playing possum. Last nights version beats every light heavyweight out there - bivol including

Beterbiev is a very unique fighter.You dont see that kind of power .He just touches people and they back right off.

Inactivity kills these top tier fighters. Not saying callum would beat beterbiev, its just an observation. You can't fight once or twice a year and be on point, those lights, the occasion, adrenaline dump, the arena and eyes on you. Well done to beterbiev though, he is a beast. Callum calling him a slow starter before the fight made beterbiev cone out firing quicker than ever. He definitely took that personally

True about bivol power but if pernell Whittaker could beat (draw robbed) against the great julio cesar chavez , if Ali could beat foreman, if leonard could beat hands of stone (second fight) then there is a possibility for bivol….gvozdyk was winning against beterbiev when he got broken down and bivol is much faster and more fleet footed than gvozdyk

Because it depends on what style you fight. A bigger ring suits the boxers that move/dance more, a smaller ring suits the pressure/brawler fighters.

Well, they've won more than 90% of boxers, so I would say they are world class, just when your at the elite level, their can only be 1 or 2 that stay there

The problem with a lot of British fighters is they have the skill but they aren’t the same level of athlete as the elites. Liam smith, groves, Callum smith etc can box but don’t have the athleticism of the elites. Crawford, mayweather, pacquiao, Beterbiev, Canelo etc all insane athletes. Their athleticism whether it’s power, speed, core strength, Golovkin etc allows them to do so much more than typical world class fighters. When they do take their athleticism seriously and take the same supplements these foreign fighters take they can then compete with the best like AJ.

Look CS is a great fighter been a to level pro….but Guy Betterbev is on a different planet one of the best I have seen. For CS to say he don’t hit hard,don’t make me laugh

You know I don't understand really myself why Smith even come to fight this fight and he was going to get into the ring and not do anything that his coaches told him that he needed to do to win this fight he didn't use his job he didn't set nothing up he was told to stay off the ropes he laid on the ropes all night let a guy beat the hell out of him and then you wonder why he got knocked out if you don't listen to your coach and your trainer that's trying to tell you what you need to be doing to win this fight you're going to lose there's no excuse for this he was taller he had the arm reach he should have kept a job in the Champs face all night long in which he did not do he should have never even got close enough really to even hit Smith with a punch if he would have used his skills and set of letting him Barrel in on him push him up against the ropes and then beat him to death and that's exactly what he let him do Wilder did the same thing against Parker you can't win a fight going backwards in Smith just about 99.9% of the fight was going backwards all night instead of going forward you can't win a fight going backwards

Callum and his brothers are real gentlemen. I respect them all, they are a credit to the sport. This is a fair assessment of the fight, but the better man won. Pity it wasn't Callum but that's boxing for you.

These British fighters need to leave England earlier. There just isnt enough top level gyms and coaches there, so that by the time these guys realize they need to move to America and find new teams it's too late.

They should stay amateur for longer. Look at Moses Itauma turned over at 18. Five more years in the amateurs and he would be markedly better as a boxer.

Smith has fought two elite operators & been found wanting on both occasions. He should retire if he claims to only want world titles. Better that than be a punchbag for up & comers.

Callum should go up to cruiserweight I reckon. 175 is obviously out of the picture now, I'd fancy his chances at cruiser, baring Opetaia its not that deep a division and if Callum was to put on a few more pounds of muscle he'd be quite the force.
