@@tonysamosa1717 It is a shame what such a talented man (Stephen Colbert) had devolved into. Even Jimmy Kimmel was funny at one point in history (The Man Show). Both previously challenged political correctness and were creative in offending those who deserved it. Now, they are both useless.

+Kyle SoSik That's because they know that already. It's the reason he was on the show. It was/is the reason *for* the shows of both these guys in general, and indeed the entire political landscape of the US. *Mindless* mockery/satire pitched against mindless propaganda, each alternating between the labels "liberal" and "conservative". In other words, mindless opposition - democracy as farce.

He started off pretty playful (for lack of a better word) at the beginning of this interview but he seemed actually mad towards the end. We ran into Stephen colbert, around 2016 or 17. He was with some people so we didn’t want to bother him… but we kept staring and talking about it, and it was pretty obvious. He came over to us told us he wasn’t Stephen Colbert. Walked a few steps came back and said “or maybe I am, and I just want to mess with you guys”. It was definitely him…. They called his name on an intercom thing, maybe 5 minutes later. He went up talked a few minutes then left with a few of the people he arrived with.

@@Sylar-upd4t3 I saw Stephen Colbert at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The woman at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly. After paying for the Milky ways he proceeded to leave the store then began to throw all of them in the garbage. Haven't seen him since.

Bill is trying soooo hard to get him to break character by repeatedly insulting him, but Stephen refuses to take the bait. He just pretends that every insult from O'Reilly is a compliment and then volleys a backhanded compliment right back at him. Stephen is in complete control of the interview the entire time and you can tell how much it pisses O'Reilly off. His own crew can't even hold in their laughter. This is a master class in trolling. O'Reilly thought he could simply berate Colbert into dropping the parody act. He had no idea who he was dealing with.

I never said Bill was good at it but it is so blatantly obvious that the two men are just messing with each other here and even probably talked about it prior to the interview. Bill has a set TV persona that is supposed to be abrasive and one-sided in some ways and it is a little different from how he is off camera. Also, it has been well known that Stephen drew inspiration from Bill for his Pundit character on the Colbert Report. The two men are poking fun at that in this interview. The two men also respect each other in real life behind the scenes. In particular, Stephen has a great deal of respect for Bill. Bill is not as good at showing his respect but he does have some.
