It didn't as the warriors were already going to win. They were tops in offense and defense the years pre kd. They had already beat the cavs for 1 ring. They had a 75% head to head win rate against the healthy cavs while the warriors were healthy (minus steph) over that span. Kd joined in on a forgone conclusion and steph would still have 4 rings 2 mvps.

@ragnarwillz4115 you're purposely avoiding what I stated. I stated the warriors were tops in offense and defense for those 2 seasons. Please list the teams in all of nba playoff history who were ranked lower in both (rating) categories compared to their opponent and won. I really want you to find this answer for me bc it seems you are trying to overlook the significance of this. I stated the warriors had a 75% head to head win percentage against those cavs when they were healthy and all parties not named steph on the warriors healthy. This holds true even in the 2016 finals. With just steph injured the warriors were up 3-1. It wasn't until iggy, bogut also got injured and green got suspended that the cavs started coming back. Think about it. It took 4 of the 6 top warriors getting injured or suspended for a game including their best player for it to go 7. No one knows what would happen but it's dang sure way more likely that the warriors continue to win. Unless you're saying they'd get 4/6 of their top players injured, suspended for a game again in 2017 and 2018.

Going to GS is not a negative for KD based on the impact to his legacy. What has happened _AFTER_ going to GS is going to have a greater negative effect on his legacy than him being there. Even more so, the fact that GS was able to win a championship _AFTER_ KD left pretty much removes KD from any GOAT conversation. He's a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, an Olympic gold medalist, and a first-ballot Hall of Famer. For many, that résumé should be enough. I don't understand why there is an insistence on elevating him to levels he just doesn't reach based on what he's accomplished.

He means that KD’s history has shown that he cant stay with a team for at least 5+ years (other than OKC), and work with that organization through their losses and problems, rather he prefers to “team hop”. Mark of a great player is one, despite problems, tries to work with the players and organization, taking leadership and trying to help guys get better, not that KD doesnt make his team better. He is a extreme talent, however besides GSW, which was pretty stacked, he’s only carried a team to the finals once. Not to mention he’s been hopping 3-4 four teams in past couple years. Lebron is a good example; for his first stint in Cleveland, he played for 8 years, he did go to Miami, and did win their with a stacked team, HOWEVER, prior to Miami took his Cavs to the finals numerous times, and he has won a chip after Miami as well; w the Lakers and Cleveland again. With how bad Lakers are doing he could have opted for a trade or even within the time of his first stint in Cleveland but he stayed; that’s the mark of a great player.

Also the era where he once scored 37 a game and shot very little 3 pt shots. Steph has the backing of being drafted to the one of the greatest teams of all time that was able to surround him with a perfect core his age, who all started peaking at the same time. Thats just draft luck and reflects nothing on the player individually, other than their ability to maximize off of it. Not to say KD was unlucky clearly because OKC was also good, just never good enough and they made some key mistakes along with some injuries that cost them their window. Warriors are equally complicit as KD, they recruited him and got to solidify their legacy (even before 2022) with those same weak rings. You can't call yourself a dynasty with just 2015 and 2022.

Klay was the 11th pick and Draymond was a low 2nd round pick. It's like saying Jokic and Giannis were drafted to great teams just because they won. You can't use the results to now take credit away when nobody even thought they were contenders before they broke out and won. The warriors aren't complicit in anything because like I said earlier, every team wanted KD. KD also gave out a list of teams he wanted to talk to. He was the decision maker not the warriors. Them being a dynasty or not isn't relevant because we're just talking about winning.

@@abdulrahamanawudu2096 Im not taking credit away, just adding context. And of course its hindsight, the whole topic is retrospective isn't it? Nothing you've said removes GSW from the same criticism as KD for getting easy rings. We can only criticize what happened, you can't excuse weak moves because "any other team wouldve done the same". Regardless, KD was the best player and difference maker, as well as the biggest reason they won those years as handily as they did. Even if he wasnt considered the leader, it was a team that had natural chemistry, shared leadership, and prided itself on team ball and strength in numbers anyway, unlike the Lebron Cavs or Kobe Lakers. If GSW in 2016 really was the best team of all time they could have decided they didnt need him, but they actively recruited him after the embarassment of the finals. All im saying is that its hypocritical of media and fans to only give KD all the criticism meanwhile letting GSW essentially get ALL the benefit and prestige of being 4 time champs when half of them were the same rings they question KD for. Are we supposed to believe that GSW still win in 17' and 18' no matter what ? Either criticize both the team and player for breaking the league, or give them both the respect they deserve for what they did in those years.

You can't give both sides the same criticism or praise because one side did not need the other to win. Feel free to disparage the two chips with KD but they still have two without him so what does it change? They would still be champs. All KD needs to do to stop people questioning those two rings is to win elsewhere to prove he also didn't need the warriors to win.

Boston, San Antonio, New York, Washington, etc. Hell, worse case scenario you even run it back in OKC but KD chose the 1 team that would damage his legacy the most. No one would've been highly upset with him leaving OKC besides OKC fans but the fact that he left for the team that he and his team BLEW A 3-1 LEAD TO is undoubtedly weak. No they wouldn't have won, if that's the case the warriors wouldn't have blown the 3-1 lead without him if they didn't need him

Kylie wasn’t young neither was Love when they won in Cleveland The warriors first ring against Bron they were young but people use the Kyrie excuse so basically this a losing argument for Steph because y’all act like Bron won without stars he always had another HOF beside him during every ring he won

He went to a 73-9 team that was just in the finals… That hurt his legacy for sure. Those rings don’t really count.

Perk is so wrong. Bron didn't go to Cleveland to win it on his own, he made sure he got surrounded by competent players to win. When Bron came back Kyrie was already rocking, so he got Love and a few other players and even then he didn't make the winning shot, it was Kyrie. So Bron should be thankful to Kyrie for that title.

Lebron led the whole series in every stat bro what r u talking about. Big whoop kyrie made a 3 pointer. If kyrie missed and they ran another play to score it’s all the same. They win because LeBron conquered GsW

How did this clip start out talking about Kevin Durant and somehow winds up talking about Lebron?

People talk but what would you do if Golden State wanted you to play with them? Would you have joined or stayed on OKC?

When has Lebron ever got it done by himself? In Miami? In Cleveland? In LA? Perks argument makes no sense.
