KD did us a solid when he left. He didn't have to do a sign and trade but he did. Thanks to him we had 3 great finals run and would have had 3 rings if it weren't for the injuries on the last run. Also thanks to him we got D'Angelo Russell from the sign and trade, then we got Wiggins and Kuminga thanks to the last trade. For a superstar, KD might be a little mercurial but he doesn't act like a flaming narcists. He just wants to play ball. I hope he lands in the right place for him. KD did a sign and trade in a way that he thought would leave the team in trouble, though. I mean, to Jay’s point, if you’re gonna be a player that single-handedly establishes a winning culture for a franchise, you need to be a strong leader that can shoulder the load of the entire organization. That was LeBron going back to Cleveland. KD is a guy that - by his own admission - just wants to hoop; he’s similar to Kawhi in that respect. He’s not much of a natural leader who’s gonna hold guys accountable and all that. He’s not a culture-setter, despite being an incredible player.

I think KD forgets that he said that, I think everyone forgets that he said that. It doesn't fit the narrative they want for him, and he certainly can't admit that again because it takes some air out of what he argues. You just want to hoop, to play, but you want to win on your own. If he just wanted to hoop and be apart of a good organization and help people win, GS was the stop, that would have been the best place for him. But, like Lebron, I don't think he was really ready for that style of basketball, were so much is put into "team" and not "star + team". KD is going to have to create that culture in Brooklyn and be the leader if he wants that outcome. You can't tell your friend you don't care where y'all go, but then give a list of things you won't do and places you won't go. Either you want to be the guy in the role, or you want to be a role player just happy to support your team.

In 2020 it was Kyrie and Harden, this season Kyrie was a part time player, Harden was traded mid season and his replacement never played a single minute this season while dealing with a back injury, they were also down their best shooter with an ankle injury since mid November 2021.

As a basketball fan, 2017/2018 were boring years, 2015/2016 were good years and it was the same two teams, difference? KD. I always liked GSW as a team, but you have to admit 2017/2018 were BS and if you don't think that, you're a GSW fan. I will give GSW full credit for winning 2015, injuries is part of the game and was disappointed they didn't win 2016 losing 3 straight to the Cavs but imagine if the 2019 Raptors kept DeRozen and just added Kawhi? That's literally what GSW were in 2017/2018.

The problem is Curry was the best player all along. I think the question of who's better is tricky. If you gotta plug a player into a random team, most ppl would pick KD. He has all the physical advantages. If you need a franchise leader who shows character and commitment and leadership etc, it's Steph by miles. So you're right that KD hasn't shown he can lead a championship team- but for me that's a knock on his character rather than his basketball skills.

Part of the reason KD left is because he ended up wanting to play more iso after what happened in the finals with draymond not giving him the ball. So he left the environment he ultimately wanted with the warriors only to return to the environment he originally left in OKC

That is a serious misrepresentation of what happened in Oklahoma City. People forget in those last three games in 2016 Durant was the worst player between Westbrook and him. Oklahoma City and Westbrook definitely had a great team around them and built it for Durant so stop it that young team that had stars everywhere and a superstar right alongside him went to the finals earlier in their journey. Even that team although it was not as loaded also had a great team around them before he left. Durant does docket criticize no matter what he does he went to the most stacked team on the planet in golden state so yes he got criticized. Now he is getting criticized for not playing well enough against Boston and the fact that he needs to prove he can be the best player on a championship team. He has not proven he can be the best player on a championship team because he wasn’t in Golden State that was Curry. If the rant wants to be on the same level as curry all time and be a top 10 kind of player that he needs to lead a team to a championship and prove that he can do it if not OK he’s probably the greatest bus rider there ever is. No one was criticizing him for things out of his control because he chose to go to Golden State and make them unbeatable. He chose to go to a team in Brooklyn to prove that he can win a title by himself and lead a team and he has not done that yet so he’s going to get criticized because he’s been playing for a long time and he still hasn’t let his team to a championship it’s all warranted criticism but if people try to criticize Kevin Durant by saying he’s not as great as curry or that he needs to lead his team to a championship oh no what are we gonna do . He needs to win a championship because right now it looks like he needed Golden State and the Warriors to win a championship which makes him and his career maybe the greatest second option ever because he’s not in that class of guys that can lead to a championship even though he is a generational talent

Stephen A is just wrong. If KD stayed people would still be discounting his rings, Barkley was literally on get up saying KD needs to "be the bus driver on a winner". Some people look at KD as needing steph to win it all, I think that's ridiculous, but its on KD to go get another one.

Agreed. KD left because he wants to build his own legacy. People call him sensitive, but the reality is people will always remember KD as the one that hopped on a championship contender and got 2 chips for free, despite arguably being the best player in both finals. He doesn't need more rings with the warriors, so it's up to him to prove that he can do it or not. Regardless of whether he can do it or not, it still takes guts to leave like that trying to prove himself.

@@maxmx767 with the type of player KD is, I wouldn’t count him out for too long. BK is giving him the keys next year, Kyrie has to be on his best behavior lol. I’m not arguing against needing another star to win. But Curry was just one chapter of KD’s success just like Kyrie to LeBron, Dwade to LeBron (2x), and AD to LeBron. Kevin isn’t finished.

KD won’t smell the Finals again as long as Kyrie is there, or “not” there. After 3 seasons, Nets have only gotten worse with KD & Kyrie running the show.

He deserves for people to say whatever they're saying about him. If KD didn't leave GSW then he could have been in the greatest dynasty ever and could have been a top 3 player OF ALL TIME. Easily over 6 championships. But he had to get into his feelings.

Yeah this doesn't look good for Kevin at all, I just wonder what's he thinking now & surely he must have regrets. I think the reason he left is because he wanted to be the star player & not 2nd to Steph even though Steph sacrificed less shots so that Kevin could get his shots off because he's all about team ball
