My black step father came into my life when I was 11 and showed up to my 6th grade graduation instead of my alcoholic dead beat father (deported to Mexico and never heard another peep from again) who would only call me once every 3 years or so. Darion Pledger, when I was raising my 4 kids (I was in the AF) there were all races of life. I told my kids, the only difference between blacks and whites is, the blacks have a darker tan. My son in-law is black and of course my grandkids are mixed and I love all of them so very much.

My husband's stepdad is black. His real dad is an amazing father, and his stepdad is an amazing father figure. My husband is blessed to have 2 father figures in his life, and I'm blessed because of them too. I never had a father. Now I have 2 fathers too. And my 2 year old son favors his black grandfather over literally everyone in the whole world. He doesn't see any difference between him and his "Dawdaw." And I DARE anyone to tell him that isn't his grandfather!! As far as I'm concerned, he is more my son's grandfather than my sperm donor.

0:56 I saw this video years ago and I came back specifically looking for it. This was beautiful relationship between a father and daughter whether they had shared biological bond or not, he was there for her and she feels safe with him.

I married a woman who had two kids before we met. I adopted both of them and gave them my name. Their mom and I got divorced but I still have two great kids in my life who call me their Dad. I wouldn't give that up for anything in the world and I'd do it all over again!!

I had 3 yr old little boy assigned tomy case load He has beautiful blue eyes ans bloune hair. This little boy loved me. When I arrived at his school to transport him he would run through his class just to hug me. The White Teachers were always shocked when they saw this. Their facial expressions was priceless. He would drop his whatever he had his hands and would start running to me while calling my name. I always gave him a big hug. Hate is taught. I love that little White boy and now that I'm retired from Social Work I will always remember him for his loving heart and hugs.

I felt her when she ran to her daddy. I was in my 30's working as a kindergarten teacher playing with my students one day and my dad surprised me. I yelled out 'Daddy!' and ran to him like I'd lost my mind😂😂 now mind you I see my dad everyday but there's just something about seeing the man you look up to. This was a beautiful moment for her.

+big baby I realized that a stepfather can only be a father as much as the wife lets him be. My wife never let me be the father to my step-daughter. I was treated like a step-father and so, very little affection was shown toward me. It hurt a lot, but my job is to be the best I can for her, affection from her or not. I've been her step-dad from years 11 to 20. Her father divorced mom when she was 4. Dad was an abusive husband. Mom never told the truth about her ex. to her daughter. Mom never allowed me to be the father. A hero would say that it really doesn't matter, but it does hurt, very much. Years that can never come back. Mom and family kept my step-daughter in limbo, so confused, that my step-daughter decided to be "fair" and not celebrate either dad.

+pigjubby1 Do you know how hard it is to hear your step-daughter tell her father on the phone that she loves him, and never hear that to you? A drunken, abusive dad, only with her until age four. He provide zero money, no affection. Then you see her hug him and say she loves him, and then to have her ignore you, because she feels odd about it showing you affection. Her high school graduation, where she won't hug you, but hugs her abusive father as if there is no tomorrow. To have her friends hug you more than your step-daughter hugs you. And yet, you must remain quiet, because it is about her upbringing and not your feelings or your hurt. Try that one for size.

My dear brother pigjubby1. I hear you. See when I came across this VIDEO, it spoke volumes. The biggest is that that lol girl loved that man. She didn't see no color, and didn't care what anyone else felt. And don't for one second, think that she, him, they, hadn't had there share of rejection. But the public show of love. It silenced many. Now as for you, brother, been there, done that. I want you to look up the word, stepchild. Look it up. And that will open your eyes a bit further. Then look up the word child, the the word step. See what you come up with. Now as far as the mom not sitting down with you, your daughter, and explaining things once she was old enough to understand, that's sad. Because if you accepted her, loved her, then you deserved to be acknowledged as such. I been there. And yes it hurts. But as a man, you keep going. Will the day ever come that you get your just do, maybe not. But you didn't sign up for accolades. As long as God knows, and you do. But keep being you. Don't let nothing or no one change you.

That’s the kind of relationship my daughter has with my husband. He’s been in her life since she was 3 and she’s now 36. He is the one she calls when she needs anything…not her biological father, who has always been a part of her life, just not a good daddy to her. I love him 1000 times more for the love he has for my baby and her for him because he didn’t have to step up and be that man for her.

Theres a magic at play in the love of a dad for a child. There is no real physical connection, just a moment when a man chooses to fall in love with that child. Fathering a child is easy and no guarantee a man will be a dad, but when a man chooses to be dad, it is an unbreakable bond.

The way she embraced him and how emotional she got alone tells you the great man he is!!

This almost made me cry. Damn, a brother getting soft. Lol respect man. My parents died at a young age and I lived with my eldest sister and her boyfriend. He took care of myself and my younger brother even though they had kids of their own. I know he should be more of a brother but he was also a father figure.

I can love seeing this. Dad left at 8 and haven't seen him since but the man that my momma brought into my little brother's and my life is definitely our dad. That man has taught me how to be a man who can hold my head up high! How to treat people with kindness and toughness. Best man I know. Love you Dad

My oldest sister real father was never in her life even down to the day she died he didn't even show up at her funeral a few years ago but my dad which is her stepdad raised her since she was 2 years old and she loved my dad like it was her real dad and now her real dad passed away 2 years ago my dad is still living and he still cries for my oldest sister who died a few years ago 💕

Britt Brat I don't care how racist anyone can be. When you love someone, love overpowers all that negativity. It's a feeling that can't be controlled because it's something that builds up over time.
