Hello friends! In today's video, I wanted to show you how to make a eurohem on jeans (again). I had made another video but the lighting and sound were off and I wasn't too proud of it. I really hope you found my instructions easy to follow and that this helps you make a perfect hem while keeping the original hem! From Maria my mother taught me to embroider when I was 7. I am now 71, I love to sew. Watching you sew is a joy. Sewing takes patience. And love of fabric and all things that make up the Art of sewing. This shows in your excellent work. Carry on.☺️

Hemming this way seems better to me. There was a lot of bulk when I finished. I'll have to try and undo them and do it this way. Thank you for such GOOD CLEAR video.

The euro hem, is still complicated in my brain, even tho you’ve shown clear demonstration. I prefer the American version, saving the original hem.
If you cut on the length the pants are supposed to be then sew using a 3/8 seam line, when the hem part is added back on it adds an additional 1/2 inch or more depending on the width of the original hem. There could be a difference of the finished hem length making it longer than the desired finished hem. This is confusing to me.
Thank-you. Always learn something from you!

I just finished shortening 6 pair of jeans for a customer! I wasn’t thrilled with the result so I thought of you and I watched this video and loved your technique! I didn’t cut the excess off I turned it inside and I used the iron on hem tape. Not sure why but some places did not stick! Perhaps I didn’t keep the iron it long enough! I love all your videos!
Enjoying watching your videos 😊

You are so talented...Did you go to design school or learn sewing on your own. When you speak you sound just like one of my aunts....How funny.... We are Portuguese and wondered if you are.. My mom, who is no longer living, was a fantastic seamstress as you are. Thank you.

Hi! Thanks so much 🥰 I'm Spanish speaking. I guess this is why it sounds similar. Cheers 😊
My teacher always called euro/american/original the same thing... "Eurohem" and so do I. Personally I prefer what you call "American Hem" but I leave the choice up to my customer so I have an example of both at the front counter to show what each look like.
Great!

whenever I do the Euro Hem I finish it completely in a blue that blends in with the jeans, then I topstitch it with the gold thread after. mostly I use the American hem or just the plain jeans hem. I like your trick of securing the seams first so they don't move.

Making the top stitch first with the blue thread is such a great idea. It will make it easier to make the final top stitch. Thanks for sharing 😊
Am I missing something? Why not just cut the jeans leaving room for them and then turn fabric under twice for a New hem? What's the advantage of using old hem? Video was very well done. Thank you!

Hi Carolyn! I can see your point perfectly, however, it has become very fashionable to keep the discolorations of the original hem. I think the following video might illustrate better the point. It does have a nice history of the jeans at the beginning but your question is answered in full after, this. So you can skip the beginning. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dp2DmJuldtzOebQ.html Please, let me know what do you think after watching the video. Cheers 😊 Aida
Which is a more accurate measurement? Using a persons inseam measurement for altering pants or the outseam?
@DowntownTailoring
4 ай бұрын
That’s a good question. I can tell you that with Today’s fashion, measuring got very tricky. If everyone wore the pants on the same way with the crotch on the right place, the inseam measurement would be the best one. But all pants sit differently. At my store we measure one by one on the customer. I hope this helps.

Waist down size step by step video please
This is a beautiful technique, but I prefer to just hem. If you gain a little weight, the pants get shorter, so I can't lower the hem again.
@DowntownTailoring

Yes. I can see your point. Anyways, after a few washes, the regular hem will start to discolored and look very similar. Cheers!
My tailor cut the hem and attached it again like never cut.. How did he did it i don't know 😂😂

If your denim is spandex, it will lose the elasticity in the hem area and become unwearable after few washes
