I have a AK7600 zephyr tempest from 2007. The fan does not work.. no screws to unscrew. I was told by zephyr part no longer available to repair! Do you agree?

I can't find any information on a model AK7600. Are you sure that is the right model number? If it is the right model number, then the information given to you, i.e., the part is no longer available, may be correct. Therefore, they might not support that model anymore and do not stock repair parts for it. You might be able to find a fan motor that could replace the old one at an electrical supply store.
AWG wire size question: are the wires from the controller switch to the motor 18 or 16 awg? The ones that you disconnected from the tangs. I have the need to mount the fan higher than normal. I was looking at this model because it appeared the controller can be dismounted from the unit as you have shown. I'm looking to fabricate a mount of the wall or counter top to hold the controller and run wires up to the fan housing.
