Step by Step How to Drop/Remove a Puch e50 Engine from a Maxi

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Heads up, this video goes slowly through each step, I did my best to make this video useful for someone who was in the exact position I was two years ago: just starting out with mopeds.
Puch Service Manual (at the bottom of the page):

Dang, my "Until Next Time" got cut off the end of the video, you'll just have to pretend really hard that I said it.

Another great video! I just followed your step-by-step instructions to remove my E50 engine from a Puch Maxi. The only difficulty was removing that stubborn throttle cable - I couldn't figure it out... I simply skipped that step and removed the (13mm) engine bolts. Once the engine was loose, I popped off the round thingy from the engine. What a PITA! Once I removed the engine I degreased it with degreaser cleaner, a small stiff brush and air from my compessor. Ready to rebuild tomorrow! Thanks!

I bought my first moped, it's a Puch Maxi. This video helped a lot. I watched a section, paused it, finished the task, then hit play. Follow this 100% and you'll have an engine separate from the bike. Also, some people drain the ATF first, but it doesn't matter just long as it is drained at some point. Good video, dude!

Travis, Thanks tons for all the vids! I just picked up a Maxi...and have had a lot more confidence doing the restore thanks to your step by step vids. I'm planning to repaint the frame. So, I'm really glad you posted this engine dropping vid as well.

Joe Pasquarello It's something I've been trying to get better at. This video comment section doesn't look particularly great because I can't reply to comments made before the Google+ integration. I guess the larger question is if someone uploads a video two years ago and has 80 other videos are they required to regularly comb the comments on all of them? I make videos to try and help people, and freely admit that I'm no expert on 2 strokes, so I'd rather let the community here contribute or have the person go to a forum/facebook group where they could get an answer if I don't know it.

What I wanna know is why they put the kickstand on the motor? Whose bright idea was that? Might as well biolt it to the handlebars.

That is something I am learning right now, the process is called knarping your cable because you cut the end off to shorten them and then either screw or solder a new knarp in - probably not for a while, but once I get it down I will definitely make a video of it. Tire changing ones are uploading as we speak!

We bought a MKII a year ago in Georgia and my gf cousin took it apart and it took a year fo.r them and later her brother to send us the parts. We are finally trying to rebuild it and I didn't see them take it apart this is the first time even touching this bike. But because it took so long I bought another frame. So Im going to try use your video to put the engine IN hopefully I can even though mine is the za50. Thinking of putting the tires on first to put the engine on. Do you have any advice for a first time builder? I think I need to possibly clean out the tank first before I put the engine on though right?

Depends how far you want to go, MopedLarry's guide is always a good step, linked below. For a ZA50 the clutch cable will be different, and I highly recommend you replace the shift pucks as those tend to dry out. I always like to get it running first then focus on cosmetics, I find it gives me motivation. www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Moped_Restoration_Checklist

Hey Travis, i've got a short question. So i removed my E50-engine a few days ago. You know the second cable at the clutch? It't the cable which is connected to the spark plug. Is it normal that this cable is made of two cables? oO I can't get them together,.. they look kinda ruptured.

Medemblikker The numbers on the motor actually match the VIN stamped on the bike so this motor is original to the bike.
