Thank you for doing a creative and balanced aquascape with low tech plants. I have chosen to avoid high tech lighting, pruning, feeding and CO2. Finding a decent looking aquascape with such parameters has been tough. Clearly you have taste, education and talent

That growth on the Windelov fern is called "Crested"..usually is either a mutation or caused by a virus in some plants. Pretty common in the terrestrial fern world so figures an aquatic fern would develop it.

Already want to move into the tank like a fish now^^

ALWAYS ALWAYS excited for anything easy or low tech! Instant like! Any recommendations for easy background (stem) plants that are just super easy to grow and help to absorb nutrients? I really like hygrophila siamensis 53 B but is having no luck whatsoever no matter what I do to them in my fluval flex. Perhaps they need CO2

I can't seem to get Hygrophila to grow either. Mayaca fluviatilis does well for me. Limnophila sessiliflora is another one to try (my hooligan fish are it before it could get going).

Hi, if you r afraid crypts might meld when the tank is filled in Germany with different water ( or other plants) ,why doesn't Tropica ship their own water for these tanks? I know it's a lot but better safe than sorry.

Nope, it is Apistogramma cacatuoides, probably "double red" variation

It will grow fine without co2 but with co2 it will grow faster and have a nicer colour to it

its like bodybuilders taking steroids. they have to do it. they are afraid of failure so they cheat. co2 is too expensive anyway. it takes more skill to succeed with a low tech aquascape.

Hey George (or anyone) can you help me select a light for my 17 litre ciano aqua 20 tank. I want it to be good enough to grow plants including ludwigia and hairgrass. The tank is 40cm long. I'd like the light to fit inside the lid if possible. Thanks.

Almost any light will do. I got fooled into buying an expensive light and i had to buy a dimmer for it because i can't get more than 50% of my Twinstar light used without my tank filling with algae. And that's with just 7hrs of light a day and no direct sunlight. ANY light will grow plants. Just buy the cheapest light you can that looks nice on your set-up.

it indeed does, if you use "Throw-away" wood your luck of cause will be challenged.
