That's what director had to say about the fans who did not like the female voise packs, Both military voise overs are female and yet, the star here, female. Calling the the fan base sexist was wrong. Now imagine this. The number of voices keeps going down, down, down, down, until only one remains. One fighter, on a suicide mission. Enemy flak is getting closer. They're going to die, they're sure. But they begin the final line of their oath. And they hear a second voice. Then a third. Then more. Tachyon sensors are picking up something big entering the system, and the hostile fleet begins to turn. It's too late. The pilot never lives to see the fleet break and run, but there is one tradition that never left Humanity. Her body is recovered and identified, and given a proper burial as one of the Martyrs of Sol. Humanity reels from the loss of their capital, but now there's a deep, burning resentment in our hearts. We'll see this to the end, even if we only hear our own voices reciting the oath. After all, someone just might join in.

The beauty of this trailer is that during a war or a battle with pirates, cristaline entities or leviathans, you never think about the individual lives being lost on your ships. Even a puny corvette would likely have 300+ people on board. It's nice to add a touch of humanity to the game.

@@lastofthelight I've been thinking on that and I think that the beauty of the humanity is just the cultural difference, I wouldn't like to live in an earth completely United... But I think that maybe in terms of species we can unite, like, one individual with other individual, and even our selfishness that makes us wanting to stay alive would take us to the Dawn of a humanity united, not politically or culturally but, as I said, individually. I really believe in that... And if you are asking how it would be possible, the best answer is the Anarcho-Captalism. It may sound confusing but it's what Hoppe and others libertarians wrote... I hope this text is clear enough to understand since I am Brazilian and don't know how to write with perfection in English...

I once had a very bad situation in my gameplay. I was in a war against Unbidden and then from other side came the Horde. I could spare only few ships and a fleet in making to defend that border. There was a fortress world named Apaxia. Defenses failed, space bastion couldn't hold them off, ships were crushed and I had to rely on FTL inhibitor on planet to hold the enemy before I get a chance to get fleets from battles with Unbidden. But then, colossus came and I knew I was in trouble. Huge enemy fleet was bombarding Apaxia and even colossus joined. At that point, I knew I lost this battle. And with that, Horde would gain full access to entire undefended sector of my Empire of Earth. But then... as all hope seemed lost... cavalry arrived. Fleet after fleet came rushing from gate. My allies came to help. 6 fleets, each being over 70k. In glorious, FPS draining battle, they crushed the Horde, protected Apaxia and chased them into to other systems. Thanks to their save, I managed to finish defensive fleet on this side of border and regain control of situation. I sure as hell gave them the reward in form of all kinds of resources they needed. But as my ships fought that hopeless battle at the beginning, I was imagining them chanting the oath, facing the obvious defeat, just to give people on surface time to prepare for defense and allied forces to come. I imagined soldiers on Apaxia, biting the ground as enemy laid siege, yet they didn't falter, never giving up hope that help will arrive.

I was playing a game about a year ago where I was involved in a war helping out my (AI) Federation-mates deal with an Awakened Fallen Empire. We were doing a decent job of holding them...well I was. The AI wasn't being completely incompetent, but it wasn't being nearly as useful as it could be. I'm building ships as fast as I can sent them through a nearby wormhole when The Unbidden appear 3 lanes away from me, right at the edge of my allies territory. I immediately shifted my doomstack fleet to bottle them up, as they only had a few hyperlanes that they could exploit. To the south of them was the Awakened Fallen Empire that we were fighting against, so they were more or less contained in that direction. I fully expected the doomstack fleet to crack...but it held, with massive losses. Reinforcements came through the wormhole, just in time to reinforce for the next wave of Unbidden...and they held again! Repeat this SIX times for almost thirty years. The Admiral in charge of my doomstack fleet picked up the "Substance Abuser" trait...but the fleet held! He died two waves later...but the fleet held! All the while, I was frantically pouring more and more ships into keeping The Unbidden bottled up AND desperately trying to build up two more doomstack fleets to hopefully attack and destroy the portal. The fleets were finished and surged past the roadblock, taking the fight to The Unbidden and closing the portal, saving the galaxy. With the Awakened Empire's expansion slowed by their own dealings with The Unbidden, my doomstacks made short work of them and brought The War In Heaven to a finish. In my head canon, there is a statue to that Admiral and his fleet on every world in my Empire and many of the worlds of my Federation. They held the line, dying by the tens of thousands so that others might live.

Hmmm, the Colossus just straight up turns me into the bad guy. I was fighting against a hivemind with the Tree of life. They were stronger than me and could win a prolonged war against me, so I blitzed through their systems to strike at the cultural, spiritual and biological heart of their empire. I blew up their homeworld, destroyed their most holy tree of life, and silenced a hundred billion souls. Few games make me feel like the bad guy THAT well. Thanks for the many hours of fun paradox!

I was playing as a rogue defence system. Declared war, and went to their capital. Used raiding after getting Nihilistic Acquisition to capture pops to turn into energy, before using apocalyptic bombardment to turn their homeworld into a Tomb World. Renamed the world "Folly of Pride" to stand as an example. True evil faction glory!

Every so often I return to this trailer and still can’t get why I cry every time. Maybe because of underlying theme of crushing hope of a mother, a relentless yet futile effort to stop the fleet or rousing speech delivered at start at unison and at the end by single voice. There are too much things that just click in this clip that just work and make this an art.

@@gamerplays5131 well I mean you have the spirit but not quite. So first its a strike craft, not a corvette. Two is since there are ion canons(meaning that UNE has Titan techs, so for sure not just tier one components and most likely at least tier 4 components. And I would guess its the tier 3 strike craft. But one only deal like 3 damage per day.

For some reason, this was really touching to me. The thought how many have died in a war in Stellaris and that they have their own story. How many brave souls sacrificed themselves is really heartbreaking when you think about it. When I used to use a colossus I saw it as a weapon to spread fear to the enemy. The fact that billions of inocents die by one shot by a colossus is a real war crime. Now I feel bad when I use it I now see it as a last resort in a war when there is no other option. I know it's just a game but it still feels bad.

I used to think the same, since I played this game I must have murdered trillions, and I feel really bad. But after all, I had to use it to reduce endgame lag, and it's worth every bit, all for the greater good.

I love how the number of voices reciting the oath steadily goes down as the battle rages.

Price rises and they can sell at a tidy profit. Point is there are a lot of powerful people who are willing to lie in order to make the populace do their bidding. Think long and hard about the implications for this obvious fact.

I've had a game like this. I lost the sol system and earth was cracked. I was so horrified and pissed. I eventually developed my own colossus project and decided to shield every world of the fanatic purifier empire that destroyed earth. They wanted to be left alone, so I made sure no one would ever bother them again. I knew it was wrong, but it felt so right. Using gigastructures I glued earth back together and settled on it again, it wasn't the same, but we couldn't live without earth.

Nope it was all in vain, Stellaris does it really well when it comes to humanity being tiny and not even special in a universe with sentient species. Most other mediums like movies etc always have humans as protagonists winning against the aliens who are always evil and invaders and patting humanity on the back saying how special we are. I love how this averts it completely In a universe with numerous other species we are tiny and insignificant. We can be wiped out the way you would step on a cockroach.

I am myself a 40K fan but even in the 40K verse humanity is one of several factions, there are also Necrons, Nids, Orks, Tau, Chaos, Eldar and Dark Eldar. Humanity is one of several factions and have also on occasion lost. So even in 40K they aren't really special or anything major. A guardsman and guard regiment are nothing to a Nid swarm some of which can tear through SM armor and Leman Russ tanks not to mention the Tau's ranged energy weapons the Ork WAAAGH! or the Necron armies let alone against the Chaos Gods.

So this is how my forces felt during their last stand at proxium 9 They fought and died But their sacrifices gave me time to bring my reserves from my shipyard in one of the black hole systems to reinforce the remaining ships in my final fleets To Admiral Mikhail Kalatov You and your fleet will be remembered forever

@@ACrazedGaming i once Had a similar Story My About My Garrison in My biggest colonie quiet ironic that the Name was Hope and it was a Multiplayer Game another Player declared war landed on Hope but My Garrison survived 5 years and even Beat the inavsion force those 5 years where enough for me to build Up a Strike force to libarate Hope and its sister colony destiny sadly a year before My fleets came to rescue a Planet Destroyer fired its beam Eliminating all Life on the ground in the end there Victory was irrelevant

I likw to imagine that all Stellaris trailers take place in the same universe and that Overlord takes place a couple of centuries after this trailers

I know that this is not the earth and that the narrator is the pilot we see dictating a message to her child, but I when I first saw this I thought it might have been the voice of the earth, Gaia. Just the thought of the Earth itself saying farewell to humanity, its children... "I feel like the day you were born was a life time ago. It went by so fast. I need to go, but, know you have been with me everyday." "Know that I did what I could to protect you." That thought hit me pretty hard and made it even sadder.

Whether it was Earth or a colony is irrelevant. A human world just got blown up? Yeah, peace is no longer an option. I am pursuing this war now until the alien race who did this is EXTERMINATED.

I like how in these spacebattles it all goes so fast even though in realtime a battle could take days, weeks or even months.

I think its more of game mechanics then canon. If you will have realistic battle speed it will not be seen in game where minimal time tic is day.

Whoever wrote the UNE oath / pledge deserves a raise.

Apocalypse launch trailer shows the commonwealth of man's response and corporate trailer shows the corporation mining the remains of Europe VII.

This is like watching the ending of some really deep and engaging sci-fi series.

Amazing trailer. A heartstring-pulling personal story with a sacrifice worth remembering. Damn I respect these kinds of stories by the way. It makes me want to play Stellaris as a true upstanding empire. Fighting even for the rights of those who can possibly destroy you. Standing up for the weak even though it diminishes your own power. Sacrificing so others have hope to keep on living. Being good isn't easy. It won't be rewarding. You will lose the loved ones whose lives you sought to improve and protect. Destroying a planet is way easier than creating one.

@@_Cartographer_ your hate will be your undoing. A society built on hate dooms itself. Such a society needs something to despise, to fight against. Should a such a human empire wipe out every xenos from the face of the galaxy, they would find themselves lost. They would need to find a new out-group to hate and war against.
