I don´t know where the idéa that women don´t like nice female virtual character. My wife always select the sexist there is around, and so does here sister. They was playing tons of fighting games as kids, and the main reason for specifically fighting game was that there was a large roster of characters to choice from, so both could be a nice looking women, and still not the same character.

That's the point - hold your attention with eye candy so you don't look into the writing or the quality of the rest of the game. Just how many versions of "game where you run around in third person hitting things a sword" do there have to be before you gamers ask the question "hasn't this been done before?"

@@terrydaktyllus1320 Except the game is actually good? I tried the demo and the gameplay is great. As for writing quality, I don't really care about writing in my action game. What matters the most is fluidity, gameplay, music, and visuals. And Stella Blade strike a home run on all of those points. Hell, Nier Automata had a lot of eye candy, but the main draw for the game was the writing and the music. The idea that the eye candy in both of those games is to "hold your attention with eye candy so you don't look into the writing or the quality of the rest of the game" is incredibly ignorant. Games that only have eye candy to offer don't sell well, "sex sells" only as much as the quality of the game allows it to.

It’s nice to hear something about this game beyond people being either triggered because she’s an attractive woman, or people thirsting after her because she’s an attractive woman.

Yea I prefer linear games too, as there tends to be better tight consistent level design and planning. When it's open world a lot of the areas end up being empty wasted space until you get to a part they actually put effort in, making you waste time just to get to those parts. Even then, most of those levels still end up being pretty bland and forgettable most of the time.

When it comes to open worlds. I don't mind the empty space. My main concern is if that open world immerses me into it. RDR2 and Ghost of Tsushima are great example of this. Both games immerse me into the setting and I'm happy to just explore it to experience something that I never will in real life.

Side note: Shift Up is the same dev studio that makes the excessively horny Goddess of Victory: Nikke. And yeah. Been playing it for a while and everything beneath shows the world building, character arcs, and fantastic music shows that there's some real effort besides some overbearing fanservice. Which, thinking about it, makes you wonder about great stories that are hidden beneath the veneer of being base and simplistic. But that's neither here nor there.

The veneer is because of the current situation in South Korea. If you don't relentlessly pander to fanservice, you get turned into a scapegoat into an ongoing civil unrest situation. Consequences include having a rented blimp with insults at your expense being flown around your office building, to _literal riots breaking out._ I'm not exaggerating about the blimp, one gacha game studio was targeted with the blimp because they didn't make the sexy gacha swimsuits sexy enough. It's freaking crazy down there, and if you live in pretty much any other country it basically makes no sense

I can't get enough of the Boss Challenge mode. I must of fought that freak 20 times in a row to the point that I could beat him without using any healing. Can't wait for the full game. Love using the Mikiri Counter!

Whats cool is that they made physical clay models of the bosses and monsters, and 3D scanned them.

Seeing something as sexual or not depends on the person. I don't see this character as sexual, the same way I don't of Kratos as sexual (and he is actually half naked). And yes, the game looks and feels really good. Very smooth and polished. And the music is God tier, I loved the vibes. I can't wait to enjoy it on release.

Great video. The soundtrack is absolutely killer so far too, especially at the rest stops! The Korean voice acting is fun too, seems to fit a lot better than the English option.

You know a demo is good when you're still firing it up after going through initially. Booty aside, is the gameplay so far fun? For me, yes! and that is what's important.

To be honest In Korea, some people say that women's appearance is disappointing. “Eyebrows are too thick.” “The main character needs to be prettier.”

Looks like a fun game. Looking forward to playing it on my PC.

Not gonna lie this looks pretty cool, Massive fan of DMC, Nier, Bayonetta and games like that but either they over complicate things or the mechanics are just annoying as hell

Wasn't expecting to like this because it looks like games I've not enjoyed in the past. Gave the demo a try because it's free so why not. I'm definitely leaning more towards buying it now, wish the demo was a little longer to help me make that decision more concrete though.

Finally an actual review

Downloaded the demo played 10 minutes and bought the deluxe edition for pre order. The first few minutes amazed me i fell in love with everything. I think that game companies these days release games and they are not finished. its just pumped out and they say well we will slam out a bunch of updates and fix all the crap we purposefully didnt get done just to release a game in 6 months. That drives people away. Its nice to have a game that is awsome like this. It lets us know hey we are working hard on this game to give you everything you want in a game. They gave us the demo that is amazing and when its finished and finally complete to be sold it will be flawless and the updates that will come will make the game so so much better not just fixing things that were put aside to get it on the shelf.

I just know my thumb will stay on the screenshot button the whole time

Games combat sounds similar to code vein

I have watched dozens of female streamers playing this game and every single one of them found the female characters pretty with more than a few showing a female gaze when Tachy first frees Eve from her pod. The idea that female gamers wants to see ugly female characters is a laughable notion that developers and publishers need to drop.

The 'sexiness' of this game is way overblown. The demo was great and it seems like the devs really did their research with the mechanics and gameplay. My biggest issue was honestly the lacking scan function in the open world.

The escapist can say goodbye to videos with 6 digit view counts 😂

For an animated corpse this channel sometimes actually gives a reasonable approximation of life. A generic paint by numbers one but still impressive non the less.

Eve controls a Gundam mech warrior. Tachy too, and we play with her too. Tachy transforms into an Alpha Naytiba.

This is the only game in a long time that's truly made me want to know more about the world. Something about the desolation and hopelessness calls to me.

IGN was so far out of pocket attacking a developer personally ... And essentially attacking his wife by claiming he never seen a real woman. Bruh... It might be time for these sites to die for good and KZreadrs completely take their place

They fired their head of videos and the whole creative team jumped ship. They're all over on a new channel called second wind. Yahtzee still does reviews but the ZP name and imps are no longer his. Instead it's called fully ramblomatic and it's him and his dog in a very similar artstyle

Its garbage. It overwhelms the player right away, the controls are bad, the animation is weird (her body is moving too fast and hard for the low momentum she is actually progressing to get anywhere), its clearly going to have a massive amount of microtransactions like Genshin Impact seeing as how there is a massive amount of items all for upgrades and crafting, the skill tree is nauseating, who cares if the rest stops remind you of FF7, the script sounds pre-teen (she has to have an explanation of a power cell until she realizes its an older version of what they use today, OF COURSE its an older version). Its sounds like a garbage plot exploiting body horror and bouncy girls. I was actually excited for this until the demo. I even cancelled my pre-order after playing it. You're a bad reviewer. You don't even have an advanced copy and you're already brown nosing...why would you compare the rest stops to FF7? What kind of merit is that suppose to even be?
