This old welder/friend of mine used to say ‘that’s exactly how I’d do it too, if I didn’t know what I was doing’ and laugh as we drank a beer 😂😂😂😂. Shit still standing 100 years from now 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

We contacted Chris, contractor, to built a rear carport. From the beginning Chris and his crew were an absolute delight. Very professional, honest, deliver quality craftsmanship at a reasonable cost & time estimate was perfect. We are ecstatic with the final product & must say that the whole experience, from start to finish, was excellent. Highly recommed Born to Built for all your construction projects & looking forward to our next project. Thank you John & Carmen

This is awesome however, it would have been nice if you went over all the details such as was it bolted or welded, the size of the metal and why you chose that, why the roof structure is not attached or resting over the 4 supporting beams…etc It will help so many rookies like me. Awesome work.

I'm collaborating with a project manager and a construction contractor in Eastern Europe on a carport project very similar to this one. It's made entirely of box steel columns (4 inch square) and joists, with columns securely embedded in concrete footings. During a windy spell reaching 60 mph, I noticed some structural sway when we were on the roof, which is currently plywood, but will be topped with terracotta tiles adding to some fears I have about the center of gravity. In a light-hearted moment, I exaggerated the swaying by pretending to surf. However, the seriousness of the issue became apparent to me, even though not everyone found it amusing. Despite initial reservations from the project manager and contractor, I firmly believe I need to insist on adding diagonal bracing for added stability, especially without solid walls. These braces will be positioned at 45-degree angles and adequately spaced between joist columns to ensure rigidity. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!
