Hello all,
Welcome to a Victorian heritage video. Today we have a bit of nostalgia, with the return of Steamrail Victoria's Glen Waverley shuttles for the first time in 11 years. A pair of K class locomotives operated top-and-tail on a rake of 20th century wooden E-type carriages. Locomotive K183 was on the east end and K190 was on the west end. For this tour, the water gin tagged along behind K190 to provide for the watering of the locomotives mid-way during the day. There were six shuttles run between Glen Waverley and Darling with passengers alighting only at Glen Waverley, unlike the last time the tour was run. Each shuttle took approximately 40 minutes.
Two one-way transfer trains to and from Glen Waverley were also run, however on the return, passengers were treated to a double-header due to an earlier issue with K183.
We begin our video at Kooyong, capturing the train rolling over one of the last tram squares, then we shuttle between Glen Waverley and Darling, getting a mix of lineside and station locations along the section.

Steamrail Victoria is one of the mainline heritage operators in Victoria, offering day trips and weekend tours back to a bygone era, whether by heritage steam, diesel or electric. This trip was one of the more popular suburban shuttle tours, which saw the train operate locally on Melbourne's metropolitan train network. For more information, head to:
