There's no editing involved, they move like that when they're performing live. (I wish they still had their youtube concerts up on their channel, because as good as the music is, the comedy in their live performances is also pretty great.) There's a whole involved, bizarre lore behind the robot characters. Parallel universes, space sharks, vampires, aliens, superheroes...it gets really wild. The ones in the video are Rabbit (the singer), The Spine (with the guitar) and The Jon (tophat). The Jon left the band, replaced by first Hatchworth (in the image with the orange moustache) and later Zero (currently in the band). Rabbit and the Spine have both changed their designs a bit over the years, with Rabbit being the more obvious after the performer came out as trans, and the Spine opting for a sharper, more detailed version of his makeup. "Honeybee" is the standard song for reactors to get introduced to, but if you're interested in hearing more you should definitely listen to some of their newer stuff. "Hot on the Trail", "Shattered Stars", and "Transform" are some good videos from their most recent album. Some other good ones I'd recommend from the past are "I'll Rust With You", "Diamonds" (features the giraffe puppet), and if you want a dip into the lore "Brass Goggles" and "Automatonic Electronic Harmonics", and "Clockwork Vaudeville" give a peek into the robots' origins. (Their fourth album, Vice Quadrant, is a whole space-themed rock opera that's a personal favorite, but trying to make heads or tails of the plot is kind of bonkers...)

Wow first you react to Vox Macina/ Critical role then you react to one of my most favorite under appreciated bands of all time! This video is one of their oldest. They've cycled through a few of their third member but the two that make up the main part of the band are David Michael Bennet and Isabella Bunny Bennet. Isabella is transgender and has since transitioned years ago, identifying as female. She is the one singing in this song (pre transition) her and her twin brother (David/The spine; the tall one with silver face) are INSANELY talented singers/musicians. I'd love to recomend other songs for this band if you liked this so much, but you've got a list!so if you liked it definitely give those others a shot too. this ones definitely a classif but they have some other amazing songs as well and they twist up their music styles.

Hi Jay. Thanks so much for taking my suggestion. As listed in other comments, the singer in "Honeybee" is the woman in the photograph pre-transition. That robot is named Rabbit. The silver guy in both the video and the photo is her irl twin brother. His character is named The Spine. The other character in the video is named The Jon, but he's no longer a part of the band. The orange-mustachioed guy in the photo is named Hatchworth, and he's also no longer with the band. Currently they have another band member named Zero. How their music works is that the robots were built in 1896 as battle robots, but were refashioned to be entertainers. They've been playing music ever since, so their albums kind of transition down through the ages of music since then. Also the album titles are playful in the fact that they remind you what order they go in. Album One The 2c Show Mk III (3) Vice Quadrant Quintessential 1896 Also they did the soundtrack for the game Steamworld Heist and can be found playing at the saloon in the game. I didn't mention "Honeybee" in my recommendation because it was done before Rabbit's transition (the actress is irl trans too, she just made the robot reflect that). If you were to listen to it again, I would recommend their later version which is re-recorded using her female voice. They have a whole cast of characters for their pantomime shows. They did actually go to school for pantomime and all of the movements and sound effects and singing they do are coming from the actors themselves. Other characters include GG the giraffe (the puppet in the photo who is voiced by Rabbit); the computer programs Qwerty ,Mal-ory, and Beebop; and their human friends the Walter Workers, Michael Reed, and (formerly) Steve Negrete.

Also, since I hit the comment button too early: They're from San Diego, California. And Rabbit isn't the lead singer. They take turns singing and often end up singing songs they wrote. "Honeybee" is written and sung by Rabbit. "Fire Fire" is written and sung by The Spine. "Fancy Shoes" is by Hatchworth. "Sound of Tomorrow" is The Jon. And "Lyin' Awake" by Zero.

The lead singer in Honeybee is Rabbit. Rabbit has since transitioned and goes by Bunny now. Her and the silver guy (The Spine) are siblings. Bunny is the girl in the picture you posted. There's a lot to their journey. Absolutely love this song

In terms of robots in the band there's been 6 with 4 different lineups of bots. Upgrade, The Jon, Rabbit, The Spine, Hatchworth, and Zero. I believe upgrade left the group before they did recordings of their songs but you can find her in old performances. Hatchworth also used to be a musician with them as a human before The Jon left and he took on the Hatchworth persona to be the next bot in the band. The current lineup is Rabbit, The Spine, and Zero. Rabbit & The Spine are the only two who have been in the band the whole time, and their actors are twins.

there's a few members that come and go like a total of 5 singing robots, 2 human mechanics and 2 other robot... assistents (?) (they mostly appear in the live performances) and rabbit, the one in the middle eventually transitions into bunny, the girl that is holding the giraffe also the guy with the mustache eventually reapears playing an instrument for a song without his costume, but so as to not break the lore they have they dressed him as a mechanic with a fish head

The lead singer changes from song to song, generally the one who sings lead is the one who wrote the lyrics. G.G. the Giraffe is a puppet played by Isabella Bunny Bennett who also plays Rabbit (the lead of this song), the puppet only comes out for a few songs. The makeup has changed over the years, and I would really recommend you have a look at some of their live recordings of songs to see just how much their movements are not camera trickery. I'd also recommend some of their newer songs since they do explore other genres, the idea being that since the robots have been around since 1896 they've played just about every musical style from then until the current day

thats Gee Gee The Giraffe. its a puppet that Rabbit voices. I know shes featured in their cover of Diamonds. The only constant members are the twins. The fedora guy with the guitar and the one with the umbrella. The third member has changed a few times.

The silver faced guy is consistent throughout the band's history, his real name is David Bennett. The person singing lead on this song is complicated, she calls this version of herself "Butch Rabbit", she is transgender and transitioned from presenting as a male to female and changed her name from Christopher Bennett to Isabelle Bennett . The back story for her character's transition is that they found the original plans for Rabbit and discovered that the robot was supposed to be female so they transitioned her robot to female per the original plans. She tried several looks for her robot until she found the right look. So you will see other videos with a variety of different looks for Rabbit. The person singing lead on this song and the silver faced guy are twin siblings, originally, identical twins. The other guy in this song quit the band and was replaced with a robot named Hatchworth, the rusty red robot. Then he quit and was replaced by the robot Zero.

Depending on the song the lead singer changes, and depending on the album the whole damn genre changes. Their makeup has changed over the years, getting better. Silver guy in the picture is the same guy, just with improved, more complex makeup. Main singer of this song transitioned and is the girl from the picture. Mustache guy is Hatchworth, who replaced The Jon after he left. He played drums and guitar and added harmonies before he became Hatchworth though.
