I live within walking distance of a Buddy's. My son missed the pizza so much when he moved to Japan, that I brought him a whole Buddy's pizza the 3 times I went there to visit. I have a video on my channel about it. Just search Japan, or pizza. It's THAT good.

Welcome to Michigan Ken! I wanted to recommend Faygo pop (soda) to go with that pizza and cheese bread. It’s a Detroit original with a ton a different flavors. If you can find the bomb pop or Dreamin (orange creamsicle) grab them! They have Buddys pizza is the frozen section at the local grocery stores too if you want to take them home. Also, we do need a White Castle 24 hour stealth camp.

Next time that you're in Michigan. You gotta try Vernors ginger ale. It's a Michigander favorite.

I live in Phoenix now and used to work for a rocket fast mortgage company (hint hint ;) ) based in Detroit. The company used to order in Jet’s pizza and they have locations here in PHX too so that’s what I’ve had for most of my Detroit style pizza. Haven’t had it in a while, even Pizza Hut has an attempt at Detroit style, but the others haven’t been as good as Jets, and they are opening a location about half mile from my house in Peoria AZ! Can’t wait, the now hiring sign just went up recently in front of the location, so it’s getting close! Will have to try Buddys eventually when I can. It looks good as well.

I lived in Chesterfield or right next to it most of my life. That buddy's isn't bad, but ya gotta go to the OG buddy's in Detroit. Much better. Also! Thank you for visiting my old stomping grounds! Those May flies (June bugs, fish flies) are a naissance around the vicinity of Lake St. Clair this time of year. They are attracted to light at dusk and into nighttime so many businesses turn down their lights or even off to deter them from swarming around and sticking to windows and sidewalks. This is the reason Buddy's appeared to be closed when you arrived.

I think the original Buddy's is in Detroit actually. My fiancee worked in Detroit for about 6 months in 2021 and every week I'd drive up from Kentucky to see her and we'd get Buddy's Pizza from the OG location at least once every week.

It always seems a little amazing to me that you can go from Canada to the USA in less time than it takes to get a third of the way from east Texas to west Texas. I will say though that you find some pretty amazing food when traveling my home state. Good pizza is always worth the drive🍕🍕🍕

That’s funny the coffee shop employee ask about the cold coffee in the morning! I was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania (you visited there Ken) in the dead of winter with say it 25° outside ALWAYS GET A COLD COFFEE! Rarely ever do I get a warm cup of coffee! Iced coffee for life!!! lol

You’re in my neck of the woods, I’m down in southeast Michigan in Monroe County. Great Choice in Pizza Ken that’s my go to especially their Antipasto salad.

Funny about the Coney Island mention. They're known for Coney Dogs, but otherwise are essentially diners. So the people going there in the morning were probably there for breakfast. Coney Island breakfasts are pretty good. (Though I wouldn't put it past some people to have a couple coneys for breakfast.)

Instead of going to the true original buddies pizzas locations on conut Street in Detroit u went to a franchised store so its truly not the same experience as the first and orginal location in the heart of Detroit

Blue water bridge to I 94 west to 23 mile exit to 23 and gratiot. I live near Lakeside Mall, so I'm very familiar with Chesterfield/New Baltimore. Never been to that Buddy's, but i will say Louis' might be better because of their salad. Plus theres only one Louis' on Dequinder between 8 and 9 mile. So many good one's like Green Lantern, Cloverleaf, Shields, of course Louis'. Thanks for finally trying the real deal Detroit style in all it's glory. 🍕🍻✌️
