When you travel, every item you decide to carry has to be truly functional. We put the Buff Lightweight Merino Wool Multifunctional Headwear to the test because we love items that can serve more than one purpose.
Staying warm while Traveling can be a challenge, especially if you're trying to go ultralight and not pack many items. The Wool Buff by Buff USA provides a good option that keeps you warm when needed and easily disappears into your pack or luggage when not in use.
The Buff serves many functions and the company has a demo video of the different ways you can use it here ( • Video ). You can use it as a scarf, face mask or beanie to keep warm in cold climates. It also works as a great hair headband in the heat. Or if you want to wear it like a ninja mask or a pirate bandana, you can totally do that too. No judgment here.

I'm using the standard Buff's for years now. Mostly to wipe of sweat from my face in hot weather. I also used it as sun and dust protection when driving on a motorbike. And also as a sleeping mask. Very nice to see that I'm not the only one who does this. Its definitely one of my all time favorite travel items.

Amazing how something so small and unassuming can have so many different uses. The darker colors will also absorb the suns rays and add to the warmth factor!

Hey Tom-- do you have an opinion of the lightweight vs. midweight version of the Merino Wool Buff? My wife and I already have some kinda-garish (free) lightweight synthetic buffs (giveaways, so not Buff branded), and were looking to upgrade to something we could actually wear when not hiking

Hey Andrew! Tom here. We haven't had a chance to contrast these two yet, but I personally find the 125gsm version to be good for most situations and temperatures. We have tried the synthetic version from Buff USA, but we generally feel the merino version is more comfortable & looks slicker. Good luck Andrew! - Tom

Your merino buff seems pretty loose around your neck, but the one I got seems pretty tight? Any recommended model or size?
