Great Pants for Travel | Outlier Slim Dungarees Review

With the durable Outlier Slim Dungarees, you can feel like you’re wearing pajama pants while looking like you’re ready for a business lunch. View Our Full Review: packhacker.com/travel-gear/ou...
It’s not denim. They're not sweat pants. It’s tech fabric. And it’s damn comfortable. If you want to sport some extra comfort while still rocking the street style, the Outlier Slim Dungarees are great pants for travel.
These pants are incredibly versatile and their two-way stretch keeps them comfortable and looking custom-fit. You can wear them on a hike and they’ll repel dirt and water or you can dress them up with the right shoes and shirt and wear them to a fancy restaurant or business meeting. The front pockets are deep so you can keep a decent amount of gear close by when needed, and the high price tag is justified with the comfort & durability that the Outlier Slim Dungarees offer.

Other than possibly being traumatized for life with your David hasslehoff pose ;) a really useful review again! You guys should have WAY more subs - seriously one of the top travel/daily life gear channels on KZread - so happy I stumbled onto it. While I find outlier's shirt pricing just stupid I agree with your pants theory, though I haven't bought a pair yet to test them myself but I will be getting at least 1 pair as part of my kit. Building this travel wardrobe from scratch is not an inexpensive endeavour though. I do have a question like usual but just 1 (multipart - ha) this time. ;) How do you find the waist? Do they fit "true to size'? Is it more of a jean, chino or dress pant type waist? I'll be tailoring the legs as per usual but waist sizes can very by up to 2 inches depending on where they sit, the stretch, etc. PS. I just put in my first woolly order. I took your advice and started with 1 long and 1 short sleeve “everyday weight” t-shirt plus 1 lightweight Polo Shirt (the only weight in polos) to get a sense of how they'll all fit and feel, I'll try the same with other vendors though I may buy less if these feel/fit great since I won't need as much. Once I tailor them I'll report back, it might be interesting background data for you since I'm at the opposite height spectrum from you (5' 2") so some of my experiences are likely quite different from yours or from those of your team (or at least those I've seen in videos). :) Cheers, Christopher

Thanks, Christopher! As far as TTS, they're close, but a tad small. There isn't much stretch in the waist for the SDs. Good luck with all the testing and finding the right fit! Would love to hear your report when you get everything sorted :) - Tom

So, we need to make some clarifications. I finally managed to buy a pair of slim dungarees during my trip to NY, having them shipped to the hotel (there doesn't seem to be a physical store, or at least I couldn't find one). It's impossible to get them in Europe without paying absurd prices at customs. The positives are indeed the fabric, which is of excellent quality and seems very resistant to dirt, and the cut of the pants, which are rather nice and fit the body very well. But be careful because they fit one size smaller than stated; I normally wear a 32, but this size is quite tight on me, considering that I am quite slim and have a narrow waist. As for the widely advertised comfort, it's all based on the cut that leaves a bit of space in strategic points, but they are NOT stretchy at all, or at least not more than a normal pair of pants. In my opinion, they can be a good pair of versatile pants, but if you're primarily looking for comfort, look elsewhere.

Another great detailed review. When I travel I rarely ,if never, put anything in my back pocket so as to not expose it to loss or theft. Although they seem expensive, when given the durability and ease of use and upkeep it makes for a pretty good bargain! I know they are comfortable but do they seem breathable and warm and or cool to wear during all phases of travel weather?

I have worn Allbirds wool loungers as a house shoe for 2yrs now. I spend about 8 hrs a day in them. I've worn them outside Running errands maybe 4 times. The sole holds up very well. Your feet will sweat if worn w/o socks. The wool foot liner will stink after 1 day of use and will begin to pile after a week and foot pressure spots will begin to form. The shoes are very comfortable and a thin sock is all that's needed to combat the moisture. I bought my regular sneaker size and found that they were perfect fit w/o socks. After 1 yr of daily wear, my rt big toe began to wear down the inner lining and the outer surface. At he end of the yr I had a toe hole. I'd recommend to size up a half size and wear a thin sock. These make for great for airports or hotel lounge shoe. If using only as a house shoe, there are less expensive less stylish options.

Hey Syahidah - the Outlier Slim Dungarees are built with men in mind, so they are tailored more towards a men's specific fit. That being said, if this style works for you and you can find the right fit, that's great! But, we currently haven't tested them out on a female frame to verify the fit. If you're looking for a similar option, we recommend checking out the Anatomie Techno Chino Mid Rise Pant packhacker.com/travel-gear/anatomie/techno-chino-mid-rise-pant/ and the Anatomie Skyler Travel Pant packhacker.com/travel-gear/anatomie/skyler-travel-pant/ - hope this helps! 😊 - Rebecca
