Staying Overnight in Mexico's Safest Town (#4)
What do you do when there's a hurricane in Mexico? You rent a car and drive into the middle of nowhere, that's what.
In this episode we attempt to drive to Coyolillo, a city with an interesting history. Along the way we stop in Trapiche del Rosario, which is not only the safest town in Mexico I've ever been to, it might be the safest town in the world. Friendly people, a cheap hotel and good tacos were waiting in Trapiche del Rosario, this mountain oasis in the highlands of Veracruz.
Many people moving to Mexico ask, "is Mexico dangerous?" "Is Mexico safe?" My response to those questions would be, watch this video.

The VW in Mexico is a “Vocho or Bocho” different people spell it differently. They were made in Mexico starting in the 70s and even though they look old many are actually from the year 2000. Veracruz was the first city in Mexico to be introduced to the vw “Vocho” via the first of them being brought through the Veracruz port. So, the “people’s car” eventually became super Mexican. 🇲🇽 . They are Über affordable in Mexico btw.

My third video of yours and I am hooked. My parents are from Mexico and you are hitting all the areas that typically I tend to visit. You were asking about the Vochos and the reason you are going to see them in small towns is because most major cities have pollution laws and these vehicles no longer meet the standards so most vochos have been sold to provinces

Actually in Mexico the most dangerous places in which you can be assaulted is in public transport such as the subway, on buses and the called "combis" in those places is much more likely. It is rare to be assaulted in broad daylight or at night on the sidewalk. Anyway, if you are walking on the sidewalk, never walk in uninhabited places or apparently alone.I am referring to those long streets in which there is no one at first glance and in which there are no houses. If you pass by, it is likely that if you run into a motorcyclist or a driver, he will get out of his car to assault you.But as long as you walk through the houses or if you want to call them a neighborhood, it is safer.

Im sure somebody already said this but mexico got the stamps to make the vw beetle sometime after vw stopped and they built them till 1996 I think. maybe 93. I live In Cali and if you get one of those bettles you cant get it registerd.
The reason you think you are seeing too many old bugs is that they aren't old. The Mexican plants are still cranking out those old rear-mounted engine model bugs!
@justinhutchins3335

Thought they stopped manufacturing them years ago in Mexico. I know they kept up with them til at least the early 2000s and modifying them with modern parts, but the plant was suppose to have been done with the old beetle body. I know the newer (like 2014-current) 1.8T engines have a plant in Mexico. But I don’t think they are still making the beetles. There might be a lot but production should’ve stopped a while ago. Unless people are restoring or storing them. Coming from a guy that worked at a few dealerships lol

El Vocho esta una presente para ti amigo alleman ;P me amo mexico
So many side quests on this channel
The reason there are so many V-Dubs in Mexico is because there was a production plant that was rolling them off the line until the late 90's.... I beleive, maybe a bit into the 2000's. Anyways most of them you see are the 73' model, but only 20'ish yrs old.
VW Beetles in Mexico are called “vochos”. A friend of mine had a vocho with a molded plastic box on the back, making it into a little van. It seemed to me like quite old. So I asked him if it was like a 68, and he looked strange at me and said it was a 95. Oops. After the original VW Bug was made not regulation in the US, they continued quite some time to be made in Mexico. In 1989 I was in Mazatlan where a type of like open golf cart built on a VW Bug drive train were used as taxis, quite dangerous it seemed at the time.
That old guy at the taco place seemed really nice
There are many small places in Mexico that are very peaceful and safe actually.
🎯
You are seeing a lot of “old” Volkswagen beetles because there was or still is a Volkswagen plant in the neighboring state of Puebla . They made this “Mexican old “ beetle up until 2003… nothing to do with the “new beetle that came out in the late late 90’s…..

Veracruz has some of the friendliest people in Mexico (Poza Rica excepted!) Food and lodging are very economical, excellent fresh produce. Winter weather can be crappy, and the Gulf Coast is hardly paradise. I didn't see sun for 14 days straight last winter. Government and police are very corrupt. Political murders are common, but street crime is rare.
