We are in that in-between stage with seasonal decor and I kind of love it! How do you feel about summer turning into fall? What are your fall goals? I like having the anticipation of Christmas to motivate me on house projects I have been thinking about all year.

Unfortunately I always seem to get depressed this time of year. My birthday is in September so I visit Brimfield MA almost every year to hunt for treasures, and try to keep myself busy with projects. This year will be full of them as I'm switching out from farmhouse clutter to a clean combo of farmhouse/cottage. I am so thankful for all your inspiration. I will be 50 this year and it's time for a good decluttering. That being said I resist putting my fall decor out until the end of summer. I just don't rush it.

What type of lavender do you grow? I was told once that there are different types, and there is one that's considered only for cooking tea etc . Please tell me if it's true?
*Quiet, Calm, Welcoming, Warm* . As we transition through the seasons, nothing brings more joy to my soul than a seasonal decor re-fresh. My Fall 2023 color palette is olive, navy and nutmeg. I've swapped out the sea-grass baskets for vintage wooden crates, made a few floral arrangements, found darker/moodier containers for house plants and gave an art piece a make-over. In Upstate NY today, the temperature is 69. The windows are open and I'm loving the breeze. For those that observe nature, there's a subtle shift in vibrancy. The light is softer, we may be a bit weary from our Summertime labor and it's a wonderful time to slow down.
As an English person, coming up to the anniversary of our beloved late Queens death, the story of you buying your platter to commemorate hearing the news of her death really touched me. Last year was such an emotional one, The Queens Jubilee and balcony appearance, which we kind of knew was her last one was heart wrenching, my dad died in the July unexpectedly, then we had to navigate his funeral and his birthday anniversary as well as the Queens passing and funeral all in the space of just over a month. Now being in the midst of that time again but a year on it's bringing up all sorts of emotions. Really enjoying your video, thankyou, you have a beautiful home, so inspiring 🥰 x
Hello Sarah...awaiting the premiere of your video was like waiting for Christmas morning as a child. Truly. I love being home!!! Its where my heart and soul is happiest. I am at peace. I said to my Husband many months ago that I had experienced an epiphany. I expressed to him that I realized what my hobby was...the HOUSE!!! He said, 'I could have told you that.' Thank you for your loveliness in all you do. It remains a gift to all.

Mine, too... Best Hobby, ever❤
Oh my goodness! You have just set my mind off into a frenzy of ideas! My husband and my 33rd anniversary is coming up on this 1st of September. And because it's a holiday weekend when everyone is out and about, we generally stay home. I can't complain much because we both really enjoy staying home. I have never thought to make it a "Staycation." It's perfect! What we would spend on a vacation could easily go into priming the house for this special time rather than feeling like we were just staying home, doing "nothing" on another anniversary. Thank you, thank you. Thank you!!! Oooo! Sorry, I can't stay and type more! I've got to start priming this little house! In 33 years, I can't believe I've never thought to do this. But before I go, thank you for all your hard work and inspiration and the brightness you've just added to my life.
What a beautiful video! In sight and sound, very peaceful. I love how you captured your desire to slow summer down and expressed it artistically “on film”. Thank you for this gift! When I was younger and very busy, I would do my seasonal decorating in one fell swoop. Now that I have more time, I’ve been enjoying introducing fall a little at a time, a color here, a pretty tray there, rustic foliage. It’s been very satisfying.
One of my favorite videos from your channel. I found your words very meaningful and inspiring and they are echoing my current thoughts. The world seems like it has turned upside down and has become a very uncertain and scary place of late and I found some calm and sense of peace with this video. Thank you.
Sarah, the nice music and your soft voice was a calming effect. The cutting of flowers was a nice transition into fall which is surly on its way. The ending was perfect with your husband. Love the time you share with your excellent education for designing tips. 💕Will be waiting for what comes next.
Your videos just become more & more beautiful…. Is it your pace, your rhythm, the music, the way your gracefulness & your cherishment uncovers the items or the gems you’re looking for, I don’t know. Maybe it’s putting all your treasured finds together in new arrangements & displays that always brings out continued but different beauty. Oh my. I think it’s all of this & more. You’d probably understand this more than I would but anyways, lovely video Sarah. ♥️🕊🐑🇺🇸🍸
I’m from England and I felt so deeply the passing of our wonderful Queen Elizabeth II. Thank you so much for sharing the respect and love you also felt. That bought real tears to my eyes. The china platter was really lovely and looks so good amongst everything you placed it with. I love your style and thoughts which are always so calming and interesting.
Such a lovely, inspiring, slow-comfort video - thank you so much for all the care and time you obviously craft into your design work. I, too, love the “in between seasons” time…saying goodbye to the season that is waning, and the next season cycle coming towards us. Fall is my favorite time of year, and while I stay true to my practice of celebrating ONE season at a time, (and ignore the Christmas decor already filling the shelves out in the world) I am also enjoying anticipating autumn’s return with just a few decor and baking changes. I think that grateful anticipation can be a form of grace. I so appreciate every “visit” you send out into the world. Warmest thanks.❤

Julie, what a beautiful way you have with words. Thank you for all your insights here! You are such an encouragement to me.
Sweet tableau at the end - you and hubby at wine o'clock, on your lovely re-styled porch.
Oh goodness. This video is a work of art in itself. So soothing.
Love the tranquility of it!! I wish I could afford over $200 sheets!!
I am all about porch life, and I love what you did with your porch! In fact, I always watch your videos with a special eye out for your porch. Over time you have done so many beautiful touches with it. And a staycation with a porch like that? Yes, please!!
I feel a little sad this time of year. August is my birthday month and the summer seems to fly by at that time. I know the migratory birds and my flowers will be gone soon and I miss them. But I get over it and enjoy fall and Christmas and wait for spring. It hasn't let me down yet!
I love that you are taking the month of August slowly and restfully. The blanket with lace trim is such a great idea. I also think your bedroom curtains are so pretty.
I have been sleeping on Brooklinen linen sheets for the past year and I love them. In the past, I would change by bedding to flannel sheets in the winter as we have harsh cold winters here in the Midwest, however, I did not last winter. The linen fabric is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Truly heirloom quality. This video was so calming and certainly welcomes the transition to autumn; thank you.
I wish SO MUCH that I could come to the retreat, it's only an hour drive for me. I just can't afford that right now, too many repairs needed on our old house. I also need to find time to catch up with the sessions as I have only been able to attend the first one in March! We have had some family health struggles, challenges, and tons of work that seems to overwhelm my days, especially Thursdays!!! Glad to know I can go back and rewatch and looking forward to September when things look to be slowing down (I hope).
Once again, I love your curations! Love the porch refresh and the ending with you and your husband! 🥰
I’ve noticed a change in you. You have slowed down and taken the time for the moment. Your over all look is so beautiful and pretty. Love your videos and l look forward to each one.❤️💕❤️

Such a calming moment to watch your video with soft lovely music, beautiful design, pretty things, and your soothing voice-over. I love all the green accents, my colors right now, and the beautiful limelight hydrangeas. I love the arrangement you made with them.
Hi Sara, it was your '22 Christmas decor videos that first captivated me to your channel. And now I find your fall decor equally breathtaking. I love your farm house and the beauty you have created in and around it.
I do love your video’s and always enjoy watching and gaining so much inspiration! This particular video was what I’ve needed as it’s been such a busy summer! Looking forward to the fall and doing a bit of home refresh. Thank you for such a calm and inspiring video!
Beautiful, Sarah. I especially appreciate the admonition to slow down and enjoy the time “between” seasons. 😌
This was so lovely and peaceful. I feel quiet now, thank you. I like the idea of sewing the lace edging on a wool blanket.
This was such a beautiful and relaxing video. I'll come share your porch with you! Thank you for sharing.
The porch refresh has inspired me to work on our tiny, tiny porch and turn it into a usable space. Thank you!
Can you do a Chanukah decorating video? With one of your clients or friends? Having a very hard time ever finding those.

Hanging some thrifted drapes in the den, exchanged sofa pillows, books, figurines... I actually love the in-between seasons as there isn't there pressure to perform, just to be instead! @SheHoldsDearly

Try this- Freeze your ice cream bucket overnight, the next day add 2 cups of half & half + 1 can of condensed milk to your ice cream maker and let run for 20 mins. Brew some strong lavender tea and have it ready in the fridge. Don't add it hot. Add the cold tea (about 1 Tbsp) to the ice cream and serve. If it's too runny, you can freeze the ice cream for an hour in the freezer. 🤍
