I bought used stax srs-004s, sound great to my ears. Although I do worry about 400 volts r what ever it is running around my brain.

Wow, never thought I'd see these be reviewed by you! They seemed very niche and rare. Also, I have to thank you for doing so, without this I wouldn't have known they released those covers and new silicone tips! I have a pair myself (SR-001 MkII) and while I enjoy them a lot, I can't wear them for an extended period of time, let alone without the headband because my ear canals are just a bit too small for them to fit into. Did you ever compare the included tips and the new tips included in the cover set? Thanks for the review!

Ah, thanks! I was never given the original tips, though I do notice many people complaining about the comfort. I find the new ones pretty comfortable but when you put the closed covers on they do get a bit heavy. I think the earhooks help A LOT to keep them more stable in the ear. Apparently the CES-A1 kit is compatible with the SR-001 MKII so it may be worth a try? stax-international.com/products/ces-a1/

anyone know where one can buy the SR003 cable by itself? (for using the 002 with other desktop drivers)

I use this system at my work. I work as architect and I can spend hours a day listeing to music at my work. I would be too awkward to have an big L series on my head there. So small size is crucial. I bought audeze lcd-x for my home listeing, but I sold them, I got too spoiled with clarity of stax.Does not mean the lcd-x does not have certain advantages, specialy fullnes and bass.

Far less affordable but far more portable is the Shure portable in-ear electrostatic system. Hopefully, some generous owner will send you those! 😀

I'd like to couple my Sony NWWM1Z Signature Series Hi-Res Walkman to the SRM-D10 Portable Driver Unit for Earspeakers. Do I simply use a 3.5mm line out cable and connect it to the line in port of the driver unit as described in the video? Actually, could you recommend a 3.5mm line out cable for me? The one from amazon seems way too long....

I was always intrigued by this product, it hasn't seen a refresh in ages. Would you get a L300 over this?

I actually prefer the sound of the 002 over the L300 because it is warmer, but I prefer the l700 to both.

@@lachlanlikesathing I currently have a SR-404, sounds better than the L300 and L500 since it has sub bass. I've enjoyed the L700 as well. Still haven't heard a 009!

I find the iSines don’t have a particularly nice frequency response out of the box. I believe they have been optimised for EQ. Eugene has them too. Sicko.

@@lachlanlikesathing yes this is correct, I believe Tyll mentioned that he was told all iSines are optimized for THD, not FR, so are designed only to be used corrected by Reveal or Cipher

A lot of OUT OF FOCUS clip, I guess black earspeakers on black pad is not ideal for AF system. Try some color pads with contrast may help.
